Need help to apply texture on imported obj file

It might be worth opening the OBJ in another application (e.g. Hexagon or Blender) and looking at the UVs there - just in case it is an import issue due to some quirk in the file.
I'm not really familiar with blender, I could just import the obj into blender but I don't know where to go from there.
I guess in case of that knife it's not my fault that the texture doesn't fit.BTW, it's this one: https://www.renderhub.com/jordan3ddesigns/kabar-knife

Does it give an error?
What does it say in the log (Help > Troubleshooting > View Log File)?
Very good idea! As far as I can see the log file looks as expected. This is appended when I load the material:

What about the import options with obj? I left everything at default, just changed the source to Maya (as the author said it comes from Maya).
Would any of the options for axis conversion help? Those three boxes are unticked. Everything else is ticked. Those shouldn't affect UVs, just the way that the XYZ values for vertex coordinates are handled

You can try running this script: daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/metadata/list_products_used/start
It's a bit hit-and-miss when I have tried it as sometimes it just says all assets come from the "LOCAL USER" product but if it plays nice for you then it should list the products used to populate the assets in the scene.
It does depend on what is in the database, if the data there is bad or has been damaged then the script will reflect that.
Other than that and felis' suggestions, if it has textures applied to the surfaces you can look at the path of those to give you a hint as to the author/product that they are from.

Need help to apply texture on imported obj fileI bought a knife (obj with textures) from renderhub. It is one object with base, height, metal, normal and roughness textures.
Import into DAZ went fine. Applied the uber base shader, but when I load the base texture into base color, the texture is all over the place and doesn't fit the 3D model. What step did I miss?
Missing Smart Content Icons - SolvedI am not sure, but I have come to the suspicion that if I don't 'export user data' after working witth files on my metadata or thumbnails and close D|S, the next time I open DIM, my work may have been overwritten by what is tthe DAZ release. I use sub-categories and fix missing thumbnails or replace the DAZ icon for the PA's thumbnail when I first download a new purchase something. So that part of Content DB Maintenance I consider essential. And I never, ever turn on 'Login'. I use DIM for DAZ and 3DShards items and Content Wizard for other products witthout DIM installers.
Edit to get rid of a runaway 't' key.
The Mac FAQI have a MacBookPro M1 and have kept up with all updates for he OS and for Daz Studio versions. Unfortunately I go through many crashes just during the opening of Studio until it gets it out of its system and then it seems stable. But, I save often and make sure to back-up my User Data before closing or doing major metadata clean-up. One thing that seems to trigger crashes as the program opens is if I move the mouse over the screen, so I try o get it on top of the opening space ASAP.
Many icons in the library are greyed outI meant to ask earlier if the products with missing thumbnail images actually load into Daz Studio. If so, then the problem with the thumbnails is likely only problems with that aspect of the metadata or the thumbnail image files themselves.
I don’t know if reinstalling Daz Studio will correct the problem since the problem seems to be with product files or metadata. I recommend that you search your Runtime/Support folder for a few of the items with missing thumbnails. If you discover that the image files are not in Runtime/Support or that the image files are there but not being connected in Content Library/Smart Content, then it is probably better to either reimport metadata for the products as crosswind suggested or uninstall/reinstall the products.

Daz Studio : The Creative Cart@Dartanbeck I have bought the first and second offerings so far. I will absolutely get the third. I haven't watched the first yet. I have been finishing up installing products into a new computer, and creating or fixing metadata for DAZ, Renderosity and Hivewire products have kept me busy since November. Yesterday I was able to carve out time to watch the second one and you had me searching my runtime to make sure I had products, hitting the store to wishlist what I didn't have and reconsidering the Content Library for environments. I did learn one major thing, don't attempt to watch anything when you have are sleep deprived. I was closely watching you adjust the materials on the dragon from 3DL to Iray and my lack of sleep caught up to me! So I have a big note to get some serious sleep and watch it again after my new computer glasses come in with my new computer up, the dragon and other bits, and play that section of video over and over again. You also helped me make sense of that Icon Maker product so that is wishlisted too. I am grateful. I also enjoyed your style of presentation and sharing how much you enjoyed all these products. They are some of the best.

Thank you !
I found my problem: I needed to open a new scene, otherwise, the menus were not visible

Does someone know how to open a .vob file in Vue 2023 ?
I tried to open the file from this freebie ( https://www.renderosity.com/freestuff/items/79969/fly-fishing-set-for-vue ) with Vue 2023 (on my Mac if it's a relevant information) but wasn't able to.

Vue, Plant Factory now freeBeen taking some of the plant factory Acacia trees into DS via obj format. Having made the leaf and smaller branch billboards DS compatible by creating trans-maps, and tweaking the materials for the first one and saved a material setting, the second randomised import shape took but a few seconds to turn into a DS tree. Will have to see if the mesh is the same and if a morphing tree can be created. Fun.Diffeomorphic: problems installing Xin HD add-onso im trying to import some HD meshes into blender and i have been trying to install Xin HD add-on to help me but my blender just refuses to install it, according to the log the addon is installed successfully

and if i go to AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\4.1\scripts\addons the file appears no problem alongside the rest of the diffeomorphic files
but the option to enable it never appears in edit/preferences/add-ons in blender itself

i have been trying multiple things for several days but nothing works and i dont understand what im doing wrong
I also have to say that i already tried installing it in blender 4.0 and before that but it doesnt work, it just refuses to show up
DAZ To Unreal - Characters importing into Unreal 5.1 rotated 90 degrees offOk I have found out how to make it work.
In Unreal 5.4 you absolutely must 100% uncheck "Zero root rotation in import" in the daz to unreal bridge settings, leave the fix twist bones in Unreal on.
In Daz check fix twist bones.
Many icons in the library are greyed outMaybe, firstly check it by this way, if you installed them with Install Manager :
Go to runtime\support folder under your Daz Library root path, search by 3420, see if there's a thumbnail image (*.jpg) ? If there is, then try re-importing metadata of this product.

they do look great in Unreal Engine though, so there is that
add DAZ characters with goom hair and Apex cloth and it renders animations way faster than DAZ
I see, that sounds good, but isn't it the same problem with the DAZ characters? I assume I can't just throw them in to Unreal without some form of hazel? (Like texture fixing, rigging or needing to equip all accessories like clothing, hair and weapon and poses first, then export and import?)
My issue is I just use daz3d to make some fun images in my free-time. So don't want it to be over-complicated or time consuming. That's why I like daz, easy to load and pose (except for the messy menus of course, but have gotten used to them).Faster renders sound sweet though, but not if I need to work more to get it, since when they render I just do other things.
Render quality isn't as important either since I do that unpopular thing and boost my renders with AI., like the example below
