  • Content DB Editor/Manager

If you move files inside DS the databsse will update. However, Install Manager uses a separate way of tracking files (since the database uses relative paths and it needs absolute) and that is why updates may be an issue.

I have a habit of not being clear enough on this forum.  I said that when I use DS to move files, it does NOT update the database.  And with this latest version of DS, not only does my tag not appear when I use DS to move files, NEWLY CREATED FILES do not have the associated metadata.  In other words, not "wearable" or "wardrobe" or anything even with newly saved assets that have not been moved.  This issue I only recently noticed.

Now there's a morph problem.  I've been creating morphs in Blender and importing them into DS for several years now, and with this version, suddenly my mesh explodes when I test the morph much of the time.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason, it just decides it's going to not work.

I take the the answer is to simply accept the situation and that it is my fault for not understanding that this is a broken software much of the time, and that if I complain I will be put on probation or banned.  I think they run things that way in Beijing, LOL.  I don't mean to be personal and certainly am grateful the help and advice, I really am.  But please, DAZ, FIX YOUR SOFTWARE! ;)
NOTE:  I wonder if DS has considered that postresql is a piece of something you wouldn't want on your floor.  The rest of the software world has considered this.  Perhaps a change is in order?

  • That's NOT a "realistic" Police Woman Outfit

    https://www.daz3d.com/fg-police-woman-outfit-for-genesis-8-females

It started so well, then BAM! buttoned down shirt. I'm pretty sure every police department in the country has regulations that the shirt must be buttoned up.

What's the point? It's not sexy enough to be a Halloween police woman costume but completely unusable to anyone who wants an actually realistic one.

You're expecting something realistic from DAZ?  But yeah, a morph to close the top buttons and a tie option would have made this a lot better.  My big disappointment, though, is that it looks like the badge is part of the shirt mesh, so it'll probably distort noticeably.

Totally agree, it is very hard to find a half decent police officer uniform or any uniform for that matter.. That does not make the character look like they came from one of those services that are used for bucks nights or bacherlorette parties..

The only decent police officer uniform here is the https://www.daz3d.com/h-c-police-uniform-for-genesis-3-male-s..

It does get really annoying when looking for proper uniforms, only to be met with clothing that no fire fighter, nurse, doctor or police officer would wear..

Yeah, it's sad that IH Kang seems to have stopped releasing new products, as they were one of the few vendors who could really nail uniforms.  That said, there are some older V4 ones that aren't bad, like https://www.daz3d.com/real-world-heroes-police-officer-v4-a4-g4 ; and Sickleyield's Security/Police set is the only thing I've seen that actually has a jacket.

Yeah IH Kang does great work that is for sure, and yes there are some other good ones but I would say IH Kangs https://www.daz3d.com/h-c-police-uniform-for-genesis-3-male-s is the best of the newer generation products.. The image below is what most police officers wear now a days.. Either way I just can't seem to work out why most uniform products sold here and other sites, are designed to look like something one would wear for halloween or an adult entertainment establishment..

my brother in law's mac crashed.  he's asking if i can get the photos off his hard drive.  if we put the hd in an external case with a usb connection, can win10 d/l photos off a mac drive?  thousands of his daughters baby pics.  feeling bad for hima

I think you are going to need another Mac to transfer it to an ExFat formatted auxiliary/external drive... the Mac's hard drive is probably HFS format and Windows is NTFS... ExFat is what you should format an external drive for if you go between Mac and Windows.
DON'T LET HIM THROW OUT THAT HARD DRIVE!

is a plot by the squirrel king to steal our baby pictures.  he prolly didnt take pictures of his own kids

    No relation.  I'm innocent.

i +1 every step towards a male version. this would actually make me buy the base outfit in the first place, since otherwise i'd have enough every day type of gear, no need for more as such. but with such great morphs, it would be an immediate buy (both the base product and all the undress morph packs). i've seen a few comments about how to fit the female product on a male, dunno if i would be interested in fumbling... a ready male-made product would really be preferred.
tho i also 1+ "normal" straight (non-supertight at the bottom) pants... don't remember if the poster(s) above meant as a +morph or an addon or what. carrot-ish is a style i never found very attractive, even less on males... i was a total fan of rave style superwide bottoms ;)

Using 2 different FaceGen morphs and using the Face Transfer Shape Morphs, I've tried to make a good Zooey Character. How does it looks?

Pretty good face wise. But is she supposed to be cross eyed? It looks a bit odd, though I admit I don't examine the actress that closely so for all I know it's accurate in that respect as well.

Thanks, I'm still working on it...

...that includes custom character shape/morph, pose character skin presets (which I have a lot of) as well as converted clothing and poses (I use several conversion scripts). I haven't installed much Poser content, just that from the early days which has no "DS" files.and some that I use in Carrara.

yeah have all my Poser stuff as I still use it all in Carrara ... and D|S too

Yeah kind of surprising given I've been at this for over a dozen years, but then I've always been on something of a tight budget and have specific genre I prefer to work in.

Love the concept, just wish some character or body morphs were included

huh? Why? That would just jack up the price needlessly. There are hundreds or even thousands of character morphs in the store already that can be purchased.

Have you tried fitting the shirt to Olympia 8 or simply using the voluptuous body morph? The shirt shrink wraps and no included morphs remedy that. As far as price goes, a great deal of products include the morphs I mentioned.

mebbe dragon wings are completely magical and there are no skeletal attachment

in my stories dragons morph into humans, trying to dream up a kewl graphic for the morph.  i like the graphics when Yuna summons the aeons.  the werewolf morphing in underworld looks painful.  pretty much needs some kind of light show.

  • Any way to save a morph with a new name?

I need to export a collection of morphs using rules, so I go into a morph and change the parameter settings, name and label.  This works fine, and I can export, however, if I close Daz and re-open, the name or label (I forget which one) has been reset,  and I'm unable to export the collection name using a rule.

    Any ideas?

  • Add ability to copy Pose dials when copy/pasting Keymate or Timeline Keyframes.

Add ability to copy Pose dials when copy/pasting Keymate Keyframes. The Dial poses I'm talking about are the ones under a characters Parameters >Pose Controls. Although I the same problem occurs with Shape Morph dials which I would like to use as well but not as often.
As an example if I have Bowing animation using the Waist bend Pose dial. I create a keyframe and set the pose dial to 0 at frame 1. I create a keyframe and set pose dial to 50% at frame 15. Then when I copy keyframe 1 and paste it to keyframe 30, the pose dial doesn't paste the dial pose, It just stays at what it was at frame 15.

Another problem with Pose dials or any keyframed dial is they don't show up on the timeline or Keymate timeline at all. So if I want to delete it I have to go to the dial and hit reset which resets the dial across the entire timeline instead of that one frame. Dial pose keyframes do show up in Graphmate if I have a specific property selected but if I wanted to select multiple keyframe properties I won't be able to do so, I would have to go one property at a time.

The only way around this is to save the entire pose as a preset in frame 1 and apply it at frame 30.

Maybe it is possible to do this but I have no idea how and documentation is not easy to find.

  • What is your top favourite product at the moment?

I've been having a lot of fun with smay's Super Hero Suit (https://www.daz3d.com/super-hero-suit-for-genesis-8-females). The morph combinations are incredible and the fact there's both a flat (yay!) and heeled version in the base suit is awesome. The attention to detail is appreciated and hopefully we'll start seeing support for add-ons in the future - and a G8M version!

  • Feedback for the C4D Bridge

EDIT: - Sorry for doubling up the info someone has already posted - I hadn't seen page 2 of this thread before I wrote it!

My first go with the bridge today, and I can definitel;y echo a lot of what has been said above, in terms of what it still needs to have added, but its a good start!

In terms of the pose morph issue, I can provide a solution that I have used when using the fbx workflow previously, and needing a large number of morphs to access with Cinema. It will both speed up the scne, and save space!

Select your Pose Morph tag, switch from Animate to Edit mode.

Select all the poses within the Poses window, Note they have an 'a' icon next to them. Right-Click and select 'Remove All'

Now, under your figure mesh null (for example; Genesis3Male.Shape), select all or only the morph meshes youd like to be able to use, and select the Pose Morph tag again.

With your morph meshes still selected, drag them into the Poses window of the Pose Morph tag.

A dialogue will ask you to choose yes for 'Absolute' or no for 'Relative'. Select No.

The morphs are now listed, and have a target icon next to them.

Swicth back from edit to animate mode, and click on 'reset sliders'.

You are now free to delete all the actual posemorph meshes under your main mesh, as they are stored relatively by the Pose Morph tag, rather than Absolutely as a reference mesh!

This will speed up your scene files, and can vastly reduce the file size, depending on the meshes, and the amount of morphs you wish to work with.

    Hope that helps!

    Adam :)

  • Introducing the Daz to Blender Bridge & native Blender File Formats

I can't find the bridge that's supposed to transfer from Daz3D to Blender.  I had to export an object and well, now the textures don't work.  I have it installed, there is no "Script" tab on my Daz Studio (4.12), I can't find it in any layout and when I found the postgres script it was not very friendly nor did it show where the export went.  I know I'm missing something but anyway, I just need a little help.  I tend to overthink a lot so maybe I just missed something.

I ran into this issue as well.  What I found was that I was using the public beta version of Daz studio.  When I loaded the public release of studio. Everything was where it was supposed to be. So those that can't find the scripts link and the bridge. Might be using one of the beta versions. Hope this helps.

  • MEC4D's celebration ( with freebies ) [commercial]

Hello, just dropped by to show you some progress, today sand smart layer, one of many

real sand scan that react to light like quartz sand do

the first image is a light from a spot light on the floor passing through the grains , then the scan, and smart layer, followed by 2 final render test.

sadly displacement want work with little particles like that only bump and normal , even if subdivided to 12, it was too clumpy , but overall looks fine so far

I will try tomorrow vector displacement and see how it works.as I know vector displacement works in iray as well as I did it before and much better than regular displacement , same as HD morph

    we will see

Bruh this is so cool, gonna be fun trying to replicate this in octane
