  • Store Redesign - Is this the new Daz store software?

For me it just got worse - here's the horrible mess I'm seeing on Internet Explorer today (yesterday it was bright and white but still fairly compact)

Which IE version?  Everything is looking fine here in IE11, both in Win 8 and Win 10.

Thanks, good to know - mine is older. (I knew I should have upgrade when I had the chance.)

AFAIK you can still upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 and 8, for free, if that's what you mean.

    No, I meant IE11 on Win7.

I don't want to go to Win10 on this machine, it's specs are wholly inadequate (it's a 10-year-old laptop with little memory and little disk space that I only use for internet and downloading DS files to a USB stick to transfer to my offline PC). I have Win10 on my tablet, which I barely dare to switch on because it eats up my (fixed monthly) download allowance doing massive Win10 updates at the least opportune moment. I'm dreading the day when my laptop finally croaks and I have to replace it.

ETA: I'll make do with Chrome browser for the store meanwhile.

I am fairly sure you can set up your windows 10 to state that the internet is metered, and in this case it will only go off and grab updates when you give it permission to.

Ah ty PerttiA, I'd origially went to the main folder in Daz3d library but didn't see anything strange that they wouldn't add that to the folder.

Thanks Leana I'll give it a go!

Here we are! I applied as you said and this is the result:

    https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/1096497/

Next I'll work on the morph conversion.

BTW will this work for the hair that came with the model (M4) or is that yet another converter I need to nab (I hope not this is getting expensive lol).

  • Attaching an ERCFreeze to an Existing Morph [Solved]

ok, so after saving the original Generated Morph and looking at at the morph file, i know what you mean by channel.

I've done a lot of experimenting with different ways to appoach this.

    1) Use the generated morph as the ControllerProperty for the ERCFreeze. This results in the morph owner being changed from FHMTika8 to Antenna, and the Class being changed from DzMorph to DzFigure. Also, it's no longer able to be saved as a Morph.

    2) Create a new DzFloatProperty to use as the ControllerProperty. This works somewhat. But it's class is still DzFigure, and it's owner is Antenna. but it's missing the Morph Deltas. Also, when looking at the morph.duff the parent is listed as .../AntennaStalks_2282.dsf#AntennaStalks_2282", while the generated morph is .../AntennaStalks_2282.dsf#AntennaStalks", and the Name in Channel is FHMTika8 instead of Value. I don't know if this makes any difference.

So, basically the problem now is that anything done with the ErcFreeze creates a morph with the DzFigure class rather than the DzMorph class. Of course, when you chose a property through the Property Hierarchy pane, it adds the freeze to the Morph, without changing it to dzFigure. Hopefully someone can help me figure this out.

  • How to import character with rigged clothes

They should transfer with the character through the bridge if you have it on them when you export the character. Otherwise, just line it up in Blender, select the clothes item, then shift select the armature, hit ctrl P and then parent with transforms. Now, if you have something like a hat that you want to specifically move with the head, don't hit ctrl p just yet, select them both, then go into pose mode, now shift click on the head bone of the armature and hit ctrl P, then parent to bone and it'll move when just the heads move, or whatever you parent it to.

  • AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO? PARTE DODICI
    Posso fare alcune domande?
    • Quando uso lo slider su altre figure, le ciglia non sono "riggate" e restano in alto. Come posso fare?

  • AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO? PARTE DODICI

Quindi (scusate l'inglese, ma coi software in inglese mi trovo meglio a pensare in lingua)

    • Save As -> Shape Preset the character you want to build a slider for.
    • Load "Genesis Male/Female 8 Dev Load"
    • Parameters->Resolution Level->Base
    • Merge->Shape Preset
    • Export As->OBJ (Daz Studio default settings)
    • Reset Shape/Load new Dev Load figure
    • Edit->Object->Morph Loader Advanced (default settings)
    • Tools->Joint Editor->Right Click on the viewport->Edit->Adjust Rigging To Shape (default settings)
    • Parameters->Look for the newly created slider->Right click on the morph->Edit Mode->Right click on the morph->ERC Freeze (default settings)
    • File->Save As->Support Asset->Morph Asset->Select the newly created morph
    • The next time you'll load a Genesis 8 figure of the same gender, you'll find the new slider

    Posso fare alcune domande?

  • Making head only morphs?

can you project random mesh onto genesis in Z brush?  (ive never used zbrush but i thought this was possible)

Not "project", it's more like "wrap".  ZBrush has a plugin called ZWrap that uses technology from Russian3DScanner (R3DS).  It lets you wrap one mesh's topology over another. And if you didn't have ZBrush, then you could do the same thing with R3DS by itself using two meshes with different topology.

So, it works like this. You have this custom head model you want to create a morph from.  You can use R3DS to wrap the Genesis head over your custom head.  But, it's not that straightforward, because you may have to mask out certain areas, like the ears, eyes, mouth, and nostrils, because they're most likely not compatible.  After you're done wrapping, you can export the wrapped version out to .obj file, and them import into Morph Loader Pro, and create a morph out of it.

Export the base item (only oen single item, base resolution, no interpolated hairs) as OBJ, clear simulation, import as morph (with Reverse Deformations on) through Edit>Figure>Morph Loader Pro. Wasn't that suggested in your other thread?

  • How to create your own Head/Face without using FaceTransfer

DS doesn't have modeling capabilities, so within DS, a plugin like Face Transfer is the only way to do what you're wanting without simply dial-spinning morphs until you get the look you want. If you import your chosen figure (Genesis 8 male, for example) into C4D or other modeling program and sculpt the morph there, you can import it to DS.

Does this include the character creator application?

Mesh Grabber appeared in DIM as an update today. Did something get changed?

The change log for the new version is in the user manual.

It's an update from version 2 to 3 with bug fixes, some new functionality and the addition of support for morph saving and loading via an add-on (which I assume will appear in the store sometime soon).

  • Making head only morphs?

Sorry to say but for me Face Transfer isn't really cutting it for making accurate digital doubles (I know, there's a bunch of good face morph tools on the marketplace). Since DAZ3D can through GoZ work alongside ZBrush, which in turn can also work with Character Creator, I was wondering is it possible to use the Headshot plugin in CC to make a good looking face, export it to Zbrush and use GoZ to convert it into a face morph for use in DAZ?

I've seen tutorials on how to make body morphs for DAZ via Zbrush and GoZ before, but found none for the head morphs...

  • Michael 4 / Victoria 4 to Genesis 8 Converter

I'm just going to address a couple of parts.

First: https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-8-michael-4 does NOT convert M4 Textures, it merely PREPARES the G8M model to Recieve the Texture so it will Fit the G8M properly?

    Correct.

Second: I need to get the Vincent textures/materials and convert them to .duf format so then I can apply them to the Prepared G8M Legacy UV model.

-How do I convert material files such as !!Vincent_Mat.pz2 to the DUF format?

This is actually the simple part of the entire process.

    1. Put Michael 4 himself into the Studio workspace, from Smart Content or Content Library, whichever you use.
    2. Select Michael 4 when he's in the scene
    3. With Michael 4 selected, double-click the !!Vincent_Mat.PZ2 preset file. This will apply the Vincent materials to Michael 4.
    4. From the File menu in Studio, select SAVE, then MATERIAL PRESET.
    5. The Save File dialog will appear. Name your preset, then pick a place to save it.
    6. Click SAVE

You will now have a copy of the materials in a DUF file, and you won't need to buy anything to get to that point. (Other than Michael 4 himself, which it looks like you already own.)

-I tryed looking up the RSSY products (which look wicked awesome) but the focus for them was more on autofiting Hair/Clothing and Iray/3Delight convertion. I saw no character morph conversions but maybe I misread something, please feel free to correct me on this and Add a link here so others have access to it too!

    https://www.daz3d.com/character-converter-from-genesis-2-male-to-genesis-8-male-

    https://www.daz3d.com/character-converter-from-genesis-3-female-to-genesis-8-female

The above items are MORPHS-ONLY CONVERTERS. They do not work on textures.

To get G2M textures to work on G8M, you would need: https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-8-genesis-2-male-michael-5-and-michael-6

  • Michael 4 / Victoria 4 to Genesis 8 Converter

I'd like to say Thank you for the reply It's appreciated and I'll try to investigate the programs(?) you mentioned in Daz and see when I can get them. I really want to move Vincent to G8M So it will look potentially better and have more options overall including clothing etc...as I tend to get more gen 8 models/bundels.

That being said, I'm surpised one of the daz orginal or Vendor Associates haven't made a one click convert program for this yet. It's money in the bank!

So let me repeat this to make sure I understand:

First: https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-8-michael-4 does NOT convert M4 Textures, it merely PREPARES the G8M model to Recieve the Texture so it will Fit the G8M properly?

Second: I need to get the Vincent textures/materials and convert them to .duf format so then I can apply them to the Prepared G8M Legacy UV model.

-How do I convert material files such as !!Vincent_Mat.pz2 to the DUF format?  These are what I found so far:

    - https://www.daz3d.com/m4-skins-batch-converter-to-genesis-2-male-s which requires ---> https://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-for-genesis-2-male ***Not sure if this will this be an issue.  I'm not seeing any M4 to G3M converters.  Will G2M textures work on the Legacy G8M prep?***

    - https://www.daz3d.com/michael-4-skins-auto-converter-for-genesis-2-male-s which also requires the above M4 for g2m   seems to be by same person but not sure what the difference is since they both seem to beable to batch convert. Can anyone explain the difference? I must be missing something.

***I've included the V4 versions here incase someone was interested***

    - https://www.daz3d.com/v4-skins-batch-converter-to-genesis-2-female-s which requires--> https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female

Third: I need to convert the Morphs/add-ons for M4/Freak4 vincent to a G2M/G3M via GenX: so these programs

    - https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2 to-->

    - https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2   or  https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-3  (I suggest G3M as Xtransfer App below does only G3 to G8)

    - These might be required, though not sure: https://www.daz3d.com/v4-and-m4-shapes-for-genesis & https://www.daz3d.com/generation-4-legacy-shapes-for-genesis-2-female

***This one is just extra conent incase someone was interested: https://www.daz3d.com/genx-addon-gen3-bundle ***

Using the Above programs you now have a G3M Morph then convert AGAIN to G8M Morph via Xtransfer:

    - https://www.daz3d.com/xtransfer--genesis-3-to-genesis-8-converter ***I Couldn't find any G2M to G8M converters so Make sure to convert to G3M***

Finally your ready to combine Everything...(so I assume)

Take Legacy UV apply to Gen 8 (prep) + converted mats/textures to .duf format + Converted Morphs/add-ons (injections?) = Vincent on Gen 8 model?

Lastly (assuming I wrote this properly and everything converts over smoothly) what is the best way to go about "saving" the character to avoid having to do all t his work again? Should I be making extra save folders for all these mats/textures/morphs etc....where do they get stored (do I store them?) will they show in smart content in future? I'd like to save it as a future "Actor" or character.

Thanks to the brave soul who ventures to answering this post.

    Sincerely,

    Cheetahka.
