So this is my temporary work around to use my old characters (actually about 20 cats) have been converted this way.
Gives me access to the new posing and outfits and let's me keep their heads together.
Yeah, that's a good option for those older heads that aren't really transferable, also a good option for stand-alone figures. I did that there with Blue 2.0's head on Genesis 8 Female:
I'm going to try that with Cookie one of these days. It would be cool to use the adorable Cookie with my G8F wardrobe.
Oh, now that's an interesting idea! I might have to borrow that idea myself. I love Cookie! I never thought about parenting heads from earlier figures like that. I'm definitely trying that in the near future. :)
Here's my attempt (G8F on the left, Cookie on the Right):
Cookie comes with just a head that you can load so that made it super easy to just parent that to G8F's head.
Here are the morphs I used if you're interested:
I also added a Push Modifier to G8F and a Diffuse Overlay to the base G8F's skin:
If you add a Push Modifier to the character you might need to add a push modifier to clothing too.
I think she came out pretty well! I can see me using "G8F Cookie" more since I have so much more clothing and poses for G8F.
The Chronicles of Damon FinnOovo has been checking more of the data records and found the following information:
Vorges’ gangsters hang out at Loading Bay 124A. Stormhawks are arranging a lot of sponsored events in shopping centers and hotels at the tourist levels. Arin checks Kaltho the Hutt, and he is extremely dangerous. The group sits over the blueprints over the museum and tries to figure out the best way to enter the garbage room. Oovo can neither climb, nor rappel. More important information is revealed. The museum will close at 23.00 and the money will be transferred after 23.00.Back to the race, the group decides that Damon will be pilot and Baaros the co-pilot. They are discussing the security once more and Oovo says she has a hidden camera, and Baaros says so does he.
Baaros and Oovo take a little trip to the garbage tunnel. Baaros has purchased a little hover platform that will be used to take the garbage tunnel up to the garbage room from a gate some floors below. On the way up, they suddenly see a murder of Rawwks, birds that hunt by screaming so loud it stuns the prey. Baaros stops the trigger happy Oovo from drawing her gun, and they carefully pass the birds. They are finally in the garbage room, and Oovo sneaks out to the corridor outside to splice the video feed from the camera in the hallways to her own little datapad that she hides in the garbage room. She also installs the jammer. A perfect mission impossible style job. They stay in the garbage room and check the video feed. After about twenty minutes a couple of guards take a round, and after another 20 minutes there is a shift change. The guards come from the cantina area.
Oovo is satisfied with the setup and they take the hover platform up a little further to the next level and they exit there. After they have returned, Oovo and Damon decide to stake out the closest bank droid. It does a run all over that part of the town, picking up money from shops, hotels and restaurants. It returns to its little loading and transfer shed and stays there between 02.00 and 04.00. They need to kidnap the droid at the exact right moment, reroute the transfers and then let it out again to avoid suspicion. Oovo really needs a good sleep-in the next morning, Damon did get some rest when Oovo and Baaros were at the museum though, but they are getting a little tired.
Huge increase in G8F load times since circa 4.14 upgrade (morph option overload?); steps to resolve? That's what it does. It still needs to know which morph is connected to which other morphs, though, and it's establishing all those links which takes much of the time.
It doesn't cache them?
Deleting Content? How would one go about deleting content from Daz safely. For example, if I want to delete a morph that came with an installed character, how would that be done? Or would it break the character? Could the same process be done for their hair or clothing? What if I wanted to delete a character, but retain certain morphs that came with them? Is there a difference in deleting content from a first or third party source? How many people are still using Genesis 2?this is Ripley.. her body is G8 with an invisible head, her head is G1 with an invisible body parented on to the G8 neck.

How many people are still using Genesis 2?i still love gianni 6
Me, too! He's my favorite character that DAZ has ever made, across all of the generations. I have transfers of him to other generations and they're just not the same, I always end up loading him in his original incarnation with IG's Iray materials (although I'm having issues getting the eyes not to look like they're stuffed with fairy lights).
I use Genesis 8 a lot and have been building characters I want to be more realistic on it, but have really been enjoying getting back to Genesis 2 and bought a ton of content during the PC+ sale. The Genesis 2 cross-figure resource kit has been getting a workout, lol.
My favorite is David Genesis 1. He doesn't transfer well enough to my satisfaction, so I just use the G1 figure (both images are David 5). I can put Genesis 2 and 3 clothes and hair on him, which make him even more useful :) My second favorite is Michael 6, even with the "moobs" LOL
Laurie
Elijah 7 (we do need more lanky boys).
YAS! So many huge muscled guys in the store, I'd love to see more thin-framed males. I'd also like to see more characters like George - we simply need to see much more size diversity in the characters. We're getting a nicer mix of racial diversity but we're still not seeing much in the way of size diversity.
Absolutely! Obviously I don't mind the brawny types, Gianni 6 is my bestest boy after all, but I'd really love to have more lanky, lean, but still realistic guys who are built that way without being a caricature or toon. I like Ollie 8 a lot, especially his Jonah character, but he's not at all realistic or really meant to be. I feel like probably the closest we have in G8 would be Nix, who I really do like, and perhaps Owen? But they're still not on par with longboi Elijah.
We have an abundance of willowy elven and fae characters for G8F, though, and willowy teen characters for G8F, and male counterparts for few or maybe none of them. I really just want a handsome, long, leanly muscled elven guy at this point, instead of another Bronan. I have a stable of those and I like them (Ashan, Valentino, Kimo, etc.), but an all-beefcake diet gets tiring. In general, more diversity in size, build, height, and age would all be great. They've gotten somewhat better about the last one along with racial diversity, at least.
I'd buy that in a heart-beat! lol :D
And to bring it back on topic. Many of the "Official 6" characters are outstanding sculpts and they polish up pretty well with some Iray surface settings. Here's Michael 6 (with some Altern8 tweaks and some pectoral size reduction):
There really isn't a reason, imo, to stop using older characters if you really like them. :D I love Genesis 8, but I do enjoy working with older figures every once in a while as well. It definitely doesn't need to be either-or. :)

Diffeomorphic DAZ-to-BlenderHi this my first time posting here and I must say that this plugin is a Godsend, I only have a question: Is it possible to import Daz Hair morphs to Blender? I have Lea hair with ponytail and I would like to transfer the ponytail's morph into Blender, I tried the winders but I get an error. It's a pain in the neck posing the ponytail by rotating each bone.

Huge increase in G8F load times since circa 4.14 upgrade (morph option overload?); steps to resolve?my g8 female morph folder contains 3250 items
Huge increase in G8F load times since circa 4.14 upgrade (morph option overload?); steps to resolve?simplest solution would be for the program to just load a list of morphs and then load the actual morphs when you pick on it to choose...
That's what it does. It still needs to know which morph is connected to which other morphs, though, and it's establishing all those links which takes much of the time.

on the other hand that is an increase from the couple of minutes load g8s ... in 412
I will do a checkNew Computer Arriving Soon. Should I Transfer or Reinstall?Good Day Everyone. My new computer will arrive Monday. Should I save everything to a USB drive or should I just reinstall the content? I have just over 1000 items purchased from the Daz store. I also have third party content purchased from other sites. The third party content is already backed up to the USB drive.
Thanks in advance for your guidance.
Huge increase in G8F load times since circa 4.14 upgrade (morph option overload?); steps to resolve?I don't know if the problem I'm seeing is due to the 4.14 upgrade or simply coincident with it. Anyway. Roughly since the upgrade, G8F figures take me upwards of 7 minutes to load. IMO, that's an unacceptably long length of time just to get a single figure in the scene.
I've seen it said here and there that this happens when you have lots of morphs available for a given figure type (as I do,) since it has to load all the morph options on figure creation. I've seen solutions related to database and filesystem manipulation hinted at. Does anyone have a step-by-step fix for this that doesn't involve deleting large numbers of files I paid for and expect to be able to use?
Thanks for your time.
Genesis 3 & 8 Face ControlsHowever, used completely in isolation it is operating at the base res so for things like smiles where in the real world we get all sorts of creases and crinkles its not going to capture that like an hd morph.
I will be releasing an add-on with corrective morhs + HD morphs. Here is a sample. Normal results on the left and on the right same pose but with corrective morphs.
Really looking forward to this!
The new "Break the Binary" releasesIf Daz figures are to become more realistic, male and female figures need to be more, and not less different. Men and women are built differently IRL.
Endomorphs and ectomorphs are built differently
I've never met an endo or ectomorph, so I'll take your word for it.
They're descriptive terms for different body compositions, which encompass everything from fat distribution to how easily you gain muscle mass. Daz characters at the extreme ends of those realistic body shapes require rigging adjustments and different corrective morphs. Leland is an endomorph, Dale is an ectomorph.
A 3D model's "pelvis" is just rigging and adjustable morphs, so if anyone wants to make a tool that easily transfers donor rigs over* I'll happily give all my trans male characters a G8F rig for accuracy. :V Alternatively, if anyone wants to develop a real life tool to swap rigs I'm sure us trans folks could organize a skeleton exchange.
In all seriousness though, way more restrictions on what we can do with models have been lifted in the past year through tool development than I could have possibly predicted. I remember when G3 to G8 transfers were considered unlikely, but even if Daz doesn't do it themselves people are always coming up with solutions. A few PAs have discussed the possibility of M <-> F transfer modules, which I'm all about.
*I'm still a novice, please don't bite me if this is wildly impossible.

that's a weak argument. all the differences can be achived by morphs.
That's a valid point.
If Antfarm can do something like this with just a morph, then pretty much anything is possible!
