  • G8 eyes- Is wider possible?

Sevrin: I've increased them to their maximun and removed the limits, to no avail.

Magog: (From "Supper's Ready" by Genesis?) Realistic with perhps a touch of exaggerated. Wide-eyed from fear is not a realistic reaction, so a little larger is what I'm looking for. Also, if the eyeballs are made a little bigger - for a character with large eyes - the lids are too closed.

On V4, when something wasn't moving to where I needed it, I would have to remove the limits from every morph related to the item I wanted to adjust. For example: in this case of the eyelids, I would have to remove the limits from every associated eyelid adjustment in both the head morphs, AND the specific eye morphs. Only then would it (usually) work the way I needed it to. On V3 qand V2 (and their associated meshes) that was never an issue: removing the limits made morphs go to ridiculous levels of distortion.

Thank you both for your suggestions.

    ..Joe

  • Daz to Blender: Where do we stand?

    Hey all...

I finally finished the morph settings presentation color on the advanced morph import dialog that I have been working on for the past couple of months for the morphing bridge addon today, so I thought I would share an update on the Daz Studio side.

There is still a lot of work to do, but I am making good progress.

The import dialogs come in two flavors  --  The quick and dirty Basic Dialog, and the more bells-n-whistles Advanced Dialog (both linked to one another).

    * The current Basic Figure Morph Import Dialog :

    image

    * The current Advanced Figure Morph Import Dialog :

    image

    * Here is an earlier single dialog version that gives you an idea of how it works  --  You can see how much it has grown with the images above :

    image

    * Link to working GIF for non-working inline GIF above :

    https://gifyu.com/image/4Mvx

    Any questions, comments, critiques welcome...

    * EDIT :  Still would like to know why some can post animated GIFs like the ones in the render thread, but others still can not...

  • OOT is having a naming crisis - 2021-01 Hair :)

I've always been a fan of OOT's hair, but like all hair with morphs - there are issues with extreme amounts of the morph, or when outside of the realm the morphs can cope with.

I like OOT's hairs for realism. I wish this one had a Part Flatten morph, though, because I'd like the OOT look and movement combined with the sleekness of Lynna Hair.

I've been using SSDs for C drive and for data for years.

I removed all characers as an experiment as they are in their own library.

It went from 44 seconds to 11 to load the default G8F; I didn't touch morphs, despite having a lot.

... But tbh, 44 seconds isn't a problem to me; I tend to know when I'm wanting a character, so I load it and continue doing stuff - no time wasted, no frustration at the massive 44 seconds it takes.

    My advice, manage your time.

Alternative; have a library with all characters except new ones. And a serperate library for characters you are using now and/or new ones.

If you want a character in the not attached library, it's easy to hit F2 and add that library.

    You're welcome! :D

I think it depends on the number of installed morphs in general, so it shouldn't matter if it's 10 packages with 100 morphs each, or 100 packages with 10 morphs each.

I think characters are just other morphs. But not all sliders are morphs: for example, I think the "Character 8 Body" is just a slider that controls other morphs.

  • So who creates models for money, commissioned work?

You can make morphs of people pretty easily using either Face Transfer [already exists in D/S], Headshop and/or FaceGen. Also having Hexagon available for the bridge is very handy to help in the morph making process.

    ...Genesis 8.2? wink

As long as it doesn't break the converter scripts and remains backwards compatible with G3 I'm fine.

Stopped with G3 as I became tired of going broke purchasing all the utilities and resource content I use for custom character development every time a new generation was released and "writing off" the previous investment every two years when on a tight budget.  I Expected the two year cycle to continue with G9...G10...G∞

I think if Daz wants to stay relevant they need to get their gears together and on par with character creator in the next couple of years. I've gotten really picky on the models as I don't see really much of anything cool I couldn't just morph what I got already into. Skin seems to be only thing that really makes each stand out to me and even then I can make my own.

...yeah I'm pretty much a "compulsive dialer" and tend to purchase morph, skin, and shaping utilities/resources. Back in the Gen4 days I spent time devloping and designing teen, preteen, and child characters from Vicky4.  When Genesis came along it felt like cheating as it even had a child morph and later there the Young Teens 5 were introduced.  I tend to get what base figure models I feel I'll need as there is more and more custom sculpting and that helps add to what I call my "gene pool". G8 seems to have an even greater number of unique and custom sculpted characters and for that I have the G8 to  G3 character converter scripts (both genders)  as well as pose converter scripts (I always modify premade poses poses but find them good starting points) and clothing conversion scripts..

  • SereneNight’s Sci-Fi Fun Thread 3

I totally feel your pain. I have kicked 90 percent of the guys off the island already as well, but so many have rejoined, that I'm going to have to perform a purge. I should mention that I have 299 male figures installed at present at least.

But in this case, I sort of like his extras.

The hard thing for me to purge is expressions. Every bundle, pose set, etc, loads a ton of morph expressions.

would they be interested in fixing the typo that makes loading the g8 figures crash carrara?
i could send them my findings if interested.

a couple of internal id typos need fixing.  and a few verts are missing from the g8f'actor' morph group around 3 of the left toe nails

even if its not the default figure, mebbe they can add a developer version of g8s for carrara users.

You're welcome.  I also just noticed that the colored part of the eye is too small compared to the actual picture of the real person.  I don't know if there's a morph for that.

Do you mean the brows or the eyelids?  I can lower her eyelids as in the photo, but a bigger brow may seem to Frankensteinish... :p

The eyeball itself. If you look at your clone and compare the eyeball to the picture of Marine Sirtis you will see that your clone's eyeballs have much more white than Marina,s does. The colored part of the eyeball looks smaller than Marina's resulting in more white space.

  • How to make an exact G8F A-Pose for G2F?

    Cora Regina said:

Look up a couple comments, the angles for the thighs and shoulders are there. I did get the positive/negative values reversed, the ones I originally posted were backwards (I have saved poses so I pretty much never do it manually anymore and forget which side goes which way, what I had was for going from A-pose to T-pose). I've edited them so that they should be oriented correctly now.

G2F and G8F have their lower arms and hands/fingers in different positions, which is kind of a pain and frankly I haven't been able to match them exactly. Getting those to line up requires turning off limits on G2F's forearms so that you can use the side-side dial, and I'm not sure what that will do to any fitting, posing, bones, etc. when all is said and done. But I can give you the numbers I have for a pretty close match (I moved the thumb but not the individual fingers, joints, etc.) if you want to give it a try anyway.

(Added the image attachments back. With underwear now because I'm not sure whether they just didn't make it, or whether we're not allowed to post undetailed, smooth-shaded stuff anymore without the non-existant naughties covered.)

If you have the numbers that would be great. I'm still thinking there should be some kind of tool/process that would do this for us - like a reverse morph, fit to, clone, transfer utility kind of thing... but in the meantime, manually setting the values to get as close as possible will do :)

    thanks

PS Hi Richard, I have understood, next time if necessary I'll wear my figure with a bra and a panty. Thanks.

No questo lo avevo capito, dicevo, se importi G8F in XNLara come OBJ, e poi sistemi la posa del character come G8F, e lo esporti (il character) in posa e lo importi in DAZ. DOvresti già averlo i una posa vicina a quella di G8F

  • Do Animations actually work with the bridge?

Any news on the animation bug export ?
If i try to export morphs, it's exactly the same things, nothing appear after in Unity. No blendshape.

So the bridge is a good tool compare to the old method to export, but seems that is not working actually.
Please, help us to export to Unity from the bridge, it's a fantastic way to go on production.

Not currently on animations. For morphs they do work on export, you need to ensure you export the morphs, in the Daz To Unity window check "Enable Morphs" then click "Choose Morphs", find the morphs you want, select them, and then hit "Add For Export".

You should end up with an asset like the following:

I do get the Morph applied to the model but I don't see the dropdown for Blendshapes. Where can I find this? I've looked everywhere....
