Star Trek Builders Unite 8: THE REBOOT
Well I have z brush now but when I built those morphs it was all using the morph building tool in poserrandym77 said:bluto said:
oh i dont know , i find morph building verry easy to do , its all about how you aproach it, low intensity brush strokes and controled smoothing can produce some amazing morphs .
one just needs to be ready to take some time and not rush through it
You use Poser to make your morphs? I figured you must use Zbrush or something.
Unity: Introducing the all-new Daz to Unity Bridge & native Unity File FormatsWhat is included with the updated Daz to Unity bridge?
Will Daz Studio 4.15 transfer properly morphs as blendshapes to Unity with this updated bridge?
g8 morph questionwe know that appaarently copious amounts of g8 morphs slow down loading.
---
I was thinking about splitting the g8s into a separate directory and only loading it when I'm, using g8
---
The question is if I load a g8 character apply some morphs and the save that character as a scene subset are the morphs loaded -- attached -- part of the character
or will reloading the character require that all the g8 morphs have to be active again?
--
or do I just create an active g8 morph folder and just put a copy of any I use in there and use that folder if I'm not changing anything on created character?Poser to genesisThe first thing you may want to consider is the Genesis Generation X (aka Gen X or GenX) plugin for Daz Studio. This can transfer V4 and M4 morphs to Genesis 1. Later releases added support for G2 and G3, and also V3/M3 and also Aiko 3 and Freak 3. So far as I know there was never a G8 edition.

I thought that SickleYield had made V4 to G3F and M4 to G3M but I'm wrong I guess. I did buy SY's M4 to G8M & V4 to G8F but those are clothing fitting shapes not character morphs.
I just did clones. They're not suitable for character morph use, because what makes the best clothing fit looks horribly distorted as a character morph.
Thanks for clarifying.

As long as the Genesis 8.0 stuff still works, i'm fine with 8.1.. my biggest issue is the new "Neck" texture mapping.. my old character maps, which include layered tattoos, arent matching up
Someone mentioned a map transfer technique with Vicky 8.1, should work with Micheal 8.1 as well.
I am noticing this procedure it looks involved.
Something to spend a day learning and a week or more transferring and saving.
I am wonderng if the old textures benefit from the new UV layout?
:)
Old textures of course will not benefit from a different UV layout than the one they were made for.
Change a UV doesnt take a day learning and a week transferring. It takes 5 seconds.
When you apply a G8 material preset to G8.1, it assigns the G8 (base male) UV set anyway. If it doesnt, you can just go to the surface and click the UV button and choose base male. Dunno what world y'all live in where that is a week long process.
Think they meant transferring and upscal;ing the old material UV layout to the new material UV layout. That would take more than 5 seconds although things like DLSS upscaled might make the process faster and better quality than it used to be.
people really wasting their time on that just for minute improvements in texel density?
To answer your question: yes
HowTo: Create missing Genesis 8.1 Head skin maps from Genesis 8/3 skin maps - Daz 3D Forums
And that's the easiest way I guess but I haven't tried it too see if it's actually complete conversion to 8.1 UVs. I will try it though.
If one has aspirations to be a good shader materials artist that sort of small job is a pretty good starting point where you can compare the before and after and have plenty of difference material sets to illustrate bad seems (just apply 8 shader materials to 8.1 and then go change the UVs to 8.1 to see the seems on the neck and eyes) and how good a job you did converting to the new 8.1. UVs You can have the old 8 shader materials on 8 and the converted 8.1 shader materials on 8.1 and see how good you did. With the number of DAZ 8 characters you can get a lot of practical practice in too.

Hello! Thanks that is very helpful. I ran into one small issue. Not sure sure if this is a bug or user error.
When I follow the procedure you posted, only the Diffuse and Normal map get transferred correctly. All the other ones are simply black (correct layout but black). Any idea what causes this?
I can work around it by putting the other maps one at a time into the diffuse channel and then running map transfer again. That works, but is a bit of a hassle...
Ciao

Hi there,
I had the same issue. Try this:
Make sure the render engine in Render Settings is set to 3Delight. I even did a quick render first although I'm not sure it's necessary but I did so as it forced the maps to load and optimize. The map transfer tool appears to use 3Delight to perform the rendering. After I did this it went off lwithout a hitch.
Here's an example render of a geograft project I'm working on., left is G8F with Base Female UV's, right is G8.1F with Base 8.1 Female UVs. I also added the PBRSkin shader so that's why it looks different...Hope this helps.

My question is, why are the dials for the expressions in two different places. For example, if I click on the head, and go to pose controls for the head, only the first that came with the figure are there. If I click on the full figure, then both sets are visible. Very confusing.
Morphs as such belong to the figure, though sometimes they moved/cloned to the head or other location for convenience; pose controls can go anywhere, but the figure node is usually their prime location for consistency with morphs.
The Aliases that are used to clone the expressions to the head will just add clutter/complexity and ofter a source of cryptic and hard to trace errors in the log.
Since some of the expressions do not have Aliases anyways, I have made a habit out of deleting all the Aliases that are not located in ...\Morphs\DAZ 3D\... (incase/when someone is calling the Alias instead of the actual morph)
Anyone Use Fiverr to have Daz Assets made?I'm not an expert at shopping for morph makers. My thinking if I was seeking one, would be to see who is already working along the vein of what I would be seeking, and ask them if they take on commissions. For example, if I wanted a monster, I would ask RawArt. If I wanted a particular female, I would ask TritiumCG {gallery at DeviartArt}. If I just wanted a very basic item or fanart [which has to have no monies involved I might ask over in the Freebies make-a-request thread and see what happens. If I wanted to buy a ready-made character, I would post an image in the Commons and ask for help to find the morphs to make it. And if for some reason I really had to seek from total strangers, I would be inclined to seek of those who have a profolio {because everybody has their own "accent" to their work} who are modeling with Zbrush. Just my 2 cents ;-)
n.b. For sculpting, that would not be morphs. That would either be an entire new figure [and all the rigging, corrections morphs, etc. that would be necessary - and the $$$] or possibly with making some geografts.
Introducing the Daz to Maya Bridge & native Maya File FormatsAnyone else having trouble with the bridge now? I just installed the new update, I click on the Daz to Maya option under the script with a character highlighted and nothing happens at all. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it three times now. Am I the only one?
Edit: It's working now. Don't know what the issue was but now I can transfer the character over to Maya.

Wow, love the facial expression and skin! Would love to see your settings for the PBR.
BUGGA BOO!!!!! Genesis 8 Female Cutie from Littlefox and Friends.I finally caved and picked up Bugga Boo and a couple of the related packages.
Only had time for a quick render tonight, but already so much fun to play with her morph. I used Bugga Boo with Fallen Angel HD for this render.
I'm voting for a male version, too. :-DA Visit to Planet Earth

Maybe a simplistic question. I think I have noticed that almost always I need to adjust toe spread morph on both feet to get shoes to look nice. All? the G8 figures seem to load with it set to -50. This has persisted in G8.1. Is this a problem for anyone else. (I think I have also noticed that some odd finger nail aboration that plagued my G8 figures is gone for G8.1 and for that I am thankful . . . .
Sounds like you have a built in morph which autoloads on everything. The default G8.1F load comes with two "Mouth Realism" settings and Render SubD set to 3 (which, I guess, is interesting in it's own right but clearly unrelated). The right and left "Toes Spread" morphs are set to 0. Most real world heels crush the toes of the wearer; I remember my mother's toes, it does cause a permanent deformity. -50% seems about right to me. Standard foot poses for G8F heels often do this (though not always) and it definately looks, well:

I think it is another example of an auto-loading morph from some, as yet unidentified, product.
SereneNight’s Sci-Fi Fun Thread 3The expressions with dials won't work, but expressions with presets seem to.
I find a lot of g8 expressions look a bit weird on g81
My favorite set I used a lot or G8m is https://www.daz3d.com/pictures-of-you-iii-morph-dial-and-one-click-expressions-for-genesis-8-male-s
I usually dial them in about half. The Dials do not work but the one click ones do. Unfortunately they are at full strength which can be slightly terrifying on the boys. Smiles look better at half on them.
Genesis 8.1 / Victoria 8.1I know you are all way beyond this but:
This is the TCG Megumi body and head morphs and also has NGV8 fit to G8.1 with some edited MAT copy scripts implemented. The skin is G8.1F (I don't have V8.1) using the Base 8.1 Female UV and the Daz Uber shader. The makeup, hair and tattoo are G8F. The makeup was just a matter of applying it. It uses the diffuse overlay layer so is not visible in texture shader preview nor will it work with the new Daz PBRSkin shader. The G8 hair works fine but must be fitted and parented to G8.1. The tattoo is a ShanasSoulmate tattoo that I converted using Map Transfer and GIMP and saved as a Layer Image Preset so it can be used on any Base 8.1 Female UV mapped charracter[1]. The expression is a combination of things that likely are only possible by deleting the ‘blocking’ folders/files. Veins: there are vein morphs but also subtle G8 LIE based veins in the skin. They are about half the strength of the product out of the box. I have not disected this completely but they seem to have installed to the skin surfaces as if they had been made for G8.1.
The outfit is dForce Chic Club Outfit and includes the dress, shoes and clutch. That all worked seamlessly on G8.1.

[1] I was not previously a user of Map Transfer nor the Layer Image Preset so this took about a day of fiddling.

Poser to genesisIs there any morph transfer kit, poser to genesis convertion can be done please help.SereneNight’s Sci-Fi Fun Thread 3@Vwrangler it does definitely look like his lip is swollen. I can live with it though. I don't do a ton of closeups, but it looks odd. It could be a morph as well. I will have to check through them and see if one does not play well with g8.1's facial rig.

This is what I meant... I have no idea why this ain't working for you, I would open a support ticket, did you by chance install daz studio while it was still running? Or maybe you're running it as an administrator?
Running as an administrator?? I've always ran as an admin .. would that make a difference??
Anyway .. another update .. :)
I've pulled out my old PC .. upgraded to 4.15, installed the essentials and the stuff for 4.15 and ...
It works straight out of the box .. no messing around .. works fine.
So .,......
.. Anybody know if there could there be something in my Daz settings that could causing a issue .. something that says " ... don't do spec highlights on Genesis 8.1 shaders .. " ?? Or such ilk .. word it however you want .. :)
Yeah, it's highly recommended that you don't run Daz studio as an administrator, but other than that I am stumped, it may be a GPU issue...

WOW! That is excellent, is this a ZBrushed model/morph? If so, it's inspiring!
