A Couple of Questions on, DAZ Studio versions and Face Transfer
Hey Guys,
So in watching a product video for 'Face Transfer Unlimited' today, it say that the 'Face Transfer' tab is avaialble from the 'Window / Panes /' tab Menu. In looking for this on my system, it is not avaialble in my DAZ Studio version 4.16 (Mac). The video states that it will be there, and you can try out the feature, but it will have a "DAZ Logo on the forehead until you pay for 'Face Transfer'". So I assume that it is a new feature and is now a part of Studio 4.1.16, but yet you have to buy it as an add-on to use the functionality. Is this correct?
Also, from within DAZ Studio, it says that I am currently on version 4.16.0.3.
But Daz Central says that I am currently on version 4.15.
Yet, in looking here in the forums its posted that there is a version 4.16.1.6.
Is 'Face Transfer' only in this latest listed version? A little confused here.
Why the inconsistant numbers here? Why would my DAZ Central say that I am on 4.15, when the DAZ Studio app itself, says that I am on a later version, 4.16.0.3?
Daz Studio 4.16Thanks. I just discovered that DazCentral doesn't even recognize that Daz Studio is installed, so I'm going to simply install it again through Daz Central without first doing an unistall. I had to do that once before when installing another app messed up Daz. I'll see if that fixes the problem. If I still have issues, I'll uninstall and reinstall.

You can load your content, though the Content Library pane under Daz Studio Formats and/or Poser Formats. Some features will, however, not work correctly without database access.
The obvious first question is do you have PostgreSQL installed? If you do is it showing in the list of background processes after starting Daz Studio (task manager with More Details enabled)? What security software are you using?
Hey Richard,
I do not know how to install PostgreSQL. I didn't see a download button for that in Daz Central (Which is where I Installed Daz Studio)... If I need to do that, can you please leave me a URL or a step by step guide on how to do it? I have no idea where to look for it or anything... Thanks!
New content, db location - DIM wants to install DS and PostgreSQL again?Correct, UNC paths are not suported in DIM, Daz Central, or DIM so a mount point needs to be used.
Resource Error Message!Hi Shaun,
Assuming you have tried restarting your machine...
And assuming you used DIM to install Daz Studio (Sorry can't help with Daz Central) you need to ensure 'PostgreSQL CMS' is installed, see first attachment.
Then you need to confirm it is running using Task Manager, see the second attachment, (don't worry if there are multiple copies of it running)
After that you could try temporarily disabling you anti virus software.
Best Wishes and Seasons Greeting.
Steve.Octane render, the pane choice is not in pane tabs or is it's name under about pluginsi got it from the site, downloaded through Daz central, wasnt shown in panes or about my plug ins only in content library so i went to DIM uninstalled and reinstalled from there, same result though

Trying to install Daz on windows10. Installing Central is slow but finally works. After that if I try to install Studio from Central it hangs several times before finally getting stuck at 83%. The log file has this error over and over again:
2020-09-12 23:43:08.916 Installing: 13176-2 : DAZ Studio 4.12 (Win 64-bit)

2020-09-12 23:44:10.033 Install Failed: DAZ Studio 4.12 (Win 64-bit)I'm using standard Defender, no extra virus or malware progs, installing to default paths (on my C drive). After the first time it got stuck I deleted everything Daz (including the user/appdata directory) and started over clean. Same result. I've installed Daz studio a year (or 2) ago without any issues when it still used just the install manager. Now it wont work even though my system is exactly the same.
Suggestions before I just delete it all and give up?
My DazCentral says "Installation will start after previous installations and won't install Daz Studio. When I close the window and try installing again it just crushes on 57% and reinstalling DazCentral doesn't help what do I do?
hi i noticed another update to 4.16 is available can someone help melasagnaman said:
hi how do i do that ! how do i back that up ! the installers
Assuming you haven't already downloaded they will be in the DIM Downloads folder - Daz Central doesn't keep the zips so if you use that there is nothing to back up.
Daz to Unreal bridge missing modulesHey guys
I have a problem when enabling DaztoUnreal bridge. It shows me this error and nothing more. I installed official bridge from Daz central so I don't see why it shouldn't work. I tried multiple versions of Unreal Engine 4 (from 4.24 to 4.27) and it doesn't work at all. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Se usi il DIM non devi fare tutti quei passaggi. Hai tutto subito in una sola interfaccia. Fine

RESOLVED: Error loading Character - What am I doing wrong? Please don't confuse Daz Central and Daz Connect. They are as different as night and day. Daz Central is a dumbed down version of DIM. Daz Connect is what is used when you install a product from within Daz Studio.
Deleting content files and reinstalling them might not fix this issue. Uninstalling from DIM if the product was installed with Daz Connect will not fix anything. If you truly want to nuke everything and start over, I think that involves resetting the database as well as deleting all content files. If you have ever created any categories of your own or assigned any content to categories, you would want to export user data before resetting the database.
A few questions to try to home in on the problem:
- Have you looked at the Daz Studio log file to see if there is any more information about the "Resource Error"? To do that, try to load Echo HD from within Daz Studio. As soon as you get the resource error and close the error window, go to the Help menu and select Troubleshooting and then View Log File... (See Screensot) A window will open full of log text. Scroll to the very bottom for the latest information. Do you see any details about the error, like WHAT resource is causing the problem?
- Can you load Genesis 8.1 Basic Female from inside Daz Studio OK, or do you get the same resource error?
- If you own Victoria 8.1, can you load her OK, or do you get the same resource error?
- To see if you have ever installed any products from inside Daz Studio (with Daz Connect) Open the Content Directory Manager and expand the Daz Connect Data section to find the path that Daz Connect uses. (See screenshot.) Then once you know that path, use your file explorer to navigate to that path and see if it contains folders in the data/cloud subfolder. If you see a bunch of folders named 1_XXXXX, where the XXXXX is a bunch of numbers representing the SKU of a specific product, that means that you have installed that product with Daz Connect. If there are only a few, it may be fairly simple to uninstall those products from within Daz Studio. Uninstalling them with DIM will NOT remove them from Daz Connect. DIM and Daz Connect are entirely separate installations in different locations on your computer, but both populate the same database. Yes, it can become a big mess.
RESOLVED: Error loading Character - What am I doing wrong?Thank you, Barbult. I am going to do some tracking down items to see if this happened. But I am 99% sure every character (specifically Echo HD 8.1) I installed using DIM. As I browsed through the Daz Central assets, I noticed that all the items said they were installed already.
When all else fails, delete and reinstall, right!? Although I am pretty sure that is what got me into this situation to begin with.
To summarize so far:
I installed Daz content using the Daz Install Manager onto an external hard drive. When attempting to load Echo HD 8.1 into the scene, I receive the 'Resource error' warning me that the file could not be located. When I use the 'Browse to File Location...", of course, the file is easily brought up in the finder and can be loaded by double-clicking.I appreciate all your contributions! Thank you!
I don't have script in the menuMistycomic, thx for the clarification. The menu has changed, there is no Scripts menu selection. I went to File > Send To and I do see the stock install of Send to Bryce and send to Hexagon. But I am not seeing Blender. I have gone to Daz Central and installed it and opened it. I'm not sure what "open" does. Can't get it working. Any help is appreciated. Thx.
AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO?
RESOLVED: Error loading Character - What am I doing wrong?I used the Daz Install Manager (DIM). Installing it twice was a concern for me. Let me explain...
I have some lasting confusion as to why some things install from DIM and others use Daz Central. To add to that confusion, there is an install tab in Daz Studio where some content shows up. Furthermore, there are multiple libraries (i.e. My Documents, and the one in the Program Files).
Confusion aside, I did install my library using default settings the first time. Since then, and currently, I moved my library to an external drive. I DID use DIM to uninstall and then re-install the entire library to the new path. That path is correct in Daz Studio and DIM.
RESOLVED: Error loading Character - What am I doing wrong? How did you install the content? (Daz Install Manager, Daz Central, Manually from Product Library download, or from inside Daz Studio)? Hopefully you didn't install it twice - once outside Daz Studio and once from inside Daz Studio. That always leads to problems.
What is the complete folder path to the character file you are loading? (Where you say you can find it on the hard drive from outside Daz Studio).
From inside Daz Studio, right click on the thumbnail of the character file you are trying to load and select Browse to File Location. It should open or highlight the File Explorer in the Windows task bar. Look carefully at the File Explorer. Is that the same location where you find the file manually on your hard drive?

Does Daz Central come without digital signature? I just downloaded and installed DazCentral from https://www.daz3d.com/get_studio and I see that installer has no digital signature certificate. Is it normal and safe?
It's a temporary situation, but yes it is safe if downloaded from the Daz site.
