It has been a while.
3DAGE Andy, please let us know if you got Octane working
I have the Beta version of Carrara installed with all my clashing extensions
many actually clash with others and one can have multiple folders of Carrara
a barenaked version is always handy for troubleshooting
Carrara Devs, hair brushing, styling, can it be keyframedHeadwax said:
Can't export as series of obj and reimport back ?
I wamt Carrara hairs
not meshes, can do morphs with meshes anyway
Carrara Devs, hair brushing, styling, can it be keyframedI know dynamics hair brushing cannot be keyframed
but I was wondering if it could be
even if it meant a keyboard shortcut saving a series of .car files and loading them along the timeline like the obj series importer (but less bulky)
I don't have the coding ability but I cannot help thinking a plugin/extension to do this might not be as complicated as some are
simulation is often overkill
simple stying for pose adjustments like mesh hair morphing is often all thats needed

Hi all.
just a quick question...
I've just tried to open Carrara to use Octane, and got an "no kernal" error, Then i went to the otoy forum, and the available plugins are Enterprise and Studio or demo.
what's the difference, and which one do i install.
Love and thanks in advance.
well that's a voice from the past, hope you are well
It has been a while.yeah I'm not using the subscription version, (just trying to see what the latest plugin was) sticking with 4.09plugin
I'm onWin 11 and it was working , some months ago,. thinking/guessing it could be a Nvidia driver issue, but the RTX 2070 is working ok with Daz Iray, just not Octane standalone or in Carrara
I didn't have Mimic for Carrara installed, so that's a bust,
I'l keep messin around.
Hugs
It has been a while.try removing the mimic extension
that blocked it for me
see https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/684541/octane-plugin-for-carrara-compatibility-problem
2080Ti seems to be the last supported card for Or4
and great to hear from you again after all this time

Trying to find settings for greater accuracyGood to see Carrara and 3D printing together
It has been a while.
Good seeing you again!mmoir said:It has been a while since I have been here..... I stopped using Carrara and moved to blender for my 3D stuff though I miss Carrara and it is still installed on my old computer. Just wondering what was going on here.. It doesn't look super busy but busy, too bad Daz did a number on Carrara. I tried starting up Blender groups to create animations with not much success. I am doing animations and have a couple of youtube channels , one for young kids and one for older kids.
Hope this place gets super busy again.

Hello everyone, after a long break I've started working with Carrara again. The break helped me gain new insights; I was able to improve my lighting setup quite a bit, and this is a new result.

Excellent work !!!
Thank you :)

Sterescopic Daz possible?I wasted money quite a few years ago on Nvidia shutter glasses because none of my numerous monitors had the refresh rate needed
now I only need cross my eyes or focus past with duel viewports offset by left and right eye cameras
some of my programs even do stereo pairs natively (Octane render 4 Carrara, iClone, Twinmotion)
I guess D|S with 2 viewports and linked cameras could too, at least using Filament
(not tried)
Trying to find settings for greater accuracyIt has been awhile since I posted here, since I have been sidetracked with other projects.
Recently I have been using Carrara to make models for 3D printing, however I am rusty ! ;)
At this point I need to resize a part for a press fit, so I need to resize the part down by 0.004" , but there are only 2 decimal points (0.00) showing in the resizing area.
Where can I increase the accuracy down to 0.000" ..... I have looked, but can't find.

No one asked me - Diomede screenshots on whatever - Warning AI Discussion OKThanks for the feedback.

I have been reviewing some recent Digital Art Live information on some 'cutting edge' modeling techniques. It combines with AI, so I suspect it will meet big resistence. In the past, these have shown up in the Daz3D store, so fingers crossed for this recent one. I have quite a bit of old material I would like to update. For example, I have several full scripts for Brash Lonergan and Moxie Espinoza resolving chaos on the galactic frontier. I wish Carrara had received basic updates for file formats, etc. I still do quite a bit of the concept art and blocking out scenes in Carrara. It is a shame that Carrara did not get basic updates. It is just too much hassle to convert my growing motion collection to Carrara-ready rigs compared to Blender rigs.
Just got a notice about 3Delight being retired.....WolfStar said:
Really bad decision on the part of Daz. 3Delight could do things that Iray simply can't.
I've built up thousands of dollars worth of content since the Studio 2 days that doesn't work correctly any more thanks to this. In fact, the majority of my content is older stuff that predates iray.
I guess I can either go back to Carrara, or see what Poser has to offer? AFAIK, Poser still supports the original Firefly engine and thus still supports Daz "legacy" content.
Old content with Poser materials will geenrally require work in any application, 3Delight materials will not work in Poser.
It is all very well complaining about dropping 3Delight, but the fact remains that it could not be integrated into DS 2026 (or any version with a newer Qt framework) - asking daz to keep distriibuting 3Delight is asking them to pay a license fee for something that will work only in older versions of DS. You old content is no more compatible with the current version of 3Delight than it is with Iray.
As long as you have the installers for 4.24.0.3 you can still use 3Delight, though it is of course a worry that they may be lost or that an OS update might break them.
