Requires Daz Connect login - does not require “Update Metadata” option

Note that it doesn't require updating metadata, so shouldn't casuse issues with unanted downloadable products appearing or unwanted changes to categories etc. (updating metadata has been optional, in the log-in screen, since the introduction of in-app notifications).
Thanks for the change log link. I has already seen that, but it leads to many questions:
- Do I have to select every product and perform the context menu action on each one? Even with multi-select, that seems to be cumbersome and prone to human error by skipping some.
Yes, I'm afraid - though you can select all products in a couple of steps
- Is there no "Update license tags on Daz store assets in this content library", to take care of everything with ONE action?
The change log does (I think, the wiki was down earlier) does give the script commands so it should be fairly simple toa dapt one of the product-handling sample scripts
- When I install a product with DIM, why doesn't DIM install the appropriate license tag, too?
Not a Daz Studio question, that would be one for more genral management
- Once tags are added, what is the method or search syntax for finding items with a specific license?
Click on a tag to see the filter box populated with the required term.
- What can be done to segregate products by license type? Should we or Daz create a category for them, or a Geoup to assign them to, or somehow move them to a different library?
- How can DIM be used to recognize items with a restricted license and install them to an alternate content library that we can configure in the DIM Settings?
I don't think DIM can do that, how you organise them is up to you - a new group (with optional hazardous-substance graphic) or a custom category are certainly options.

Licensing for products from other marketplacesHello!
So, here's the use case:
I've got Interactive License for Genesis 8 Starter Essentials in DAZ, this allows me to use this product in commercial videogames, which is what I want to do. I also have Victoria 8 Pro Bundle with the same Interactive License, Genesis 8 Female Head and Body Morphs with the Interactive License as well and plenty more.
I've got products from RenderHub with Extended Use License, which allows me too to use them in commercial videogames.
I am able to import Render Hub content into DAZ Studio (clothing and characters mostly) and add it to my characters for which I have the Interactive License.
The question is, can I use the result content (a mix of products from RenderHub and Daz) for a commercial videogame? I would be exporting the content to Unity using the Daz to Unity Bridge.
Do I need to purchase a particular Daz license to use DAZ Studio as the tool to export the external content (from RenderHub, mixed with content from the Daz Store) to Unity for my commercial games?
I hope you can help me with this!
Thank you!

Could the reason be that I have Chantel for Genesis 8 and she doesn't have a full body morph for the parameters tab? Also, for some reason her materials only seem to be available in the content library. They're definitely not in parameters and I can't find any materials in the data folder either. I can find the head and body morph there, but no materials and no full character morph. Off topic: Does it make sense to focus on Genesis 8 or should I start with Genesis 9? I haven't invested much money yet, so I could still switch to 9, but there seems to be a lot more stuff for 8.
Ah ha... folks always overlook something. You're 100% correct. We checked the product link above but that was for Genesis 9. Actually what you bought is this : https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/165156/3dl-chantel-for-genesis-8-females
In its ReadMe, there's no full character control morph property. (ss1)
As for material issue, yes, my bad. People sometimes take things for granted... haha ~~ What can be filtered in Surface pane > Preset tab has to be based on Metadata. This product is from Renderosity, you must have just dumped the files into your Daz Libary rather than installing it with some tools ( Content Wizard ), so there's no metadata at all. Then you have no way to find material presets there other than Content Library ~~

Question about eR Auto Breast AnimatorYou can see how the Move Multiplier is tripled (which is funny for me because I don't want them going all over the place - but this is a nice setting, I think), there's no dampening (or at least it's set to 0), I've reduced the weight because she's fairly petite, but the biggest change from the promo shot in the earlier post is the frequency Multiplier - which is much higher thatn any of the presets. Much higher.
With these settings, when the character reached the initial pose at frame 10, and rests at that pose until frame 30, there's a nice, natual jiggle that corresponds very nicely with the motion she's just undergone.
Then when the animation begins... yeah. Looks very nice indeed!
I think that a lot of characters with larger protruberences will do much better with a bit more weight. Say... 2 or so. Play with it - see what works best.
What a great tool! I feel bad that this product seemed (from the initial stage of this thread) to get off with a bad rep. Because I would Totally recommend this over having to export, import, work for a while, export, then import, then try to tweak only to find out that it's not right - so I have to start over.
This thing launches with immediate determination, applies our settings into results Very Quickly, and it's ultimately adjustable for great results.
Kudos eReal! I Love It!!!

Then finetune it with Mesh Grabber , DFormer etc... or sent to external software that you know for further sculpting.

I have to say: easily resetting db and re-importing meta might bring users a disaster... especially if one ever made lots of modification / correction yada yada to the metadata.
I used to give a tutorial relating to correcting all these... but I cannot find it for the time being. However, I do know.. for that Cat Bot product, no thumbnail image has ever been given to the product IM package. You have to make one by downloading a promo from its product page and throw it into runtime/support folder with the correct file name... or, of course, filling a ticket if you want to.
Thus resolving them has to be case by case... for some, there is no thumbnail in runtime\support, for some, you have to check and correct metadata (dsx file)... for some, individually re-importing the metadata again will do....
Of course, the brutal way: delete them under Products in Content Library... but then you have no way to find them in Smart Content.
Thanks Crosswind for your assistence. When I first installed Cat Bot I am certain there was an image but over time it went away with me resetting metadata.
Perhaps we both have the same database conflict.
So you installed it via Connect ? I didn't find a thumbnail file in IM package with DIM. Can you check that, in rumtime/support folder ?
Looking for a Daz Compatible Incendiary Rocket Launchern.aspros123 Things are getting complicated... my friend ! You don't have to handle this so cumbersomely. For the time being, try this first:
- Have you had DS Public Build installed ? If not, order it here : https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-beta Download and Install it with DIM, give it a correct setting as per screenshot 1 beforehand.
- There's an mtl file on the product page, download it along with OBJ file.
- Launch DS Public Build, firstly drag RSL OBJ file to Viewport, see if it looks right. Then drag RSL FBX file into Viewport, see if it looks right.
Because only OBJ / FBX importers in Public Build can work more correctly, as well as with less bug !... especially for the cases in which you need to import the products from 3rd-parity sites.
Then, if the result looks good or correct, paste a screenshot ~~

I just got rid of all of my duplicate runtimes and thus my duplicacte listings. Ran reset database and metadats reimported metadata.
But, a handfull of assets do not have preview images. They used to have images and also, I suspect some of the images are not the right image that was meant to go with the product.
How do I manually reset the image or rather, can I delete a thumbnail folder somehow and/or have Daz reassign the images correctly?
Thanks!
How to get rid of duplicate content install link? [SOLVED]Logging into Connect shouldn't double the icons - it certainly doesn't for the things I have to install through DIM (e.g. Ultrascenery and add-ons), they just have the available to download icon at top-right (and if i understand the chnage log that will be going away). It looks as if, for some reason, the DIM installation is not being seen as the same product as the onea vailable through Connect; does the metadata seem correct (file type tags at top-right etc.) if you actually open the product to view its installed parts?

1. Check Content Directories:
- Ensure that DAZ Studio is not pointing to multiple locations for the same content. If the same content is listed in multiple directories, DAZ Studio might show duplicates.
- Go to Edit > Preferences > Content > Content Directory Manager.
- Review the paths under DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats. If you see duplicate paths (e.g., the same folder listed twice), remove the duplicates.
2. Reset the Database:
- If your content directories are correctly configured but you still see duplicates, the issue might be with the content database.
- Resetting the database can help:
- Back up your database if you have custom metadata.
- Go to Content Library pane.
- Click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the upper right corner.
- Select Content DB Maintenance.
- Choose Reset Database. This will clear the database.
- After resetting, go back to Content DB Maintenance and select Re-Import Metadata to rebuild the database.
3. Remove Duplicate Entries:
- If resetting the database doesn't help, you might need to manually remove duplicate entries:
- Go to the Content Library pane.
- Locate the duplicate entries and right-click on them.
- Choose Delete or Remove Reference if the option is available.
4. Check for Duplicate Installations:
- Sometimes, content may have been accidentally installed multiple times.
- Go to DAZ Install Manager (DIM) and check if the content appears multiple times in the installed tab.
- Uninstall the duplicates if found.
5. Manual Cleanup:
- Delete the manifest files associated with the duplicates:
- Go to your DAZ Install Manager download directory.
- Look for
.dsxmanifest files related to the content and delete the duplicates. - You may need to re-import the metadata afterward.
6. Check Smart Content:
- If you're seeing duplicates in Smart Content, it might be related to metadata issues.
- Re-import Metadata can help clean up Smart Content.
This response was very helpful and resolved my issue when I performed step one and two.
Thank you kindly dziemian.pawel .

How to add the textures ?
Surfaces tab in Daz Studio
Refering to Blender. @lilweep
well youre trying to texture an obj in Daz Studio if im not mistaken, so not sure texturing things in Blender provides much of a solution, unless youre assuming there is a Blender to Daz bridge, which there isnt. Or if youre assuming you can export an obj or fbx from Blender and that will be a robust Blender to Daz Bridge.
In any case, the screenshot you show of Daz Studio is not an imported obj file. Did you try importing the obj into Daz or just the FBX and called it a day? FBX files are notoriously annoying to import to Daz Studio although it claims to be much better now. If native obj doesnt work. Import the obj to Blender and then Export from Blender as obj and then import the updated obj to Daz Studio. Set up textures manually in Daz Studio Surfaces tab.
Dont rely on .MTL file that comes with obj to assign textures properly in Daz Studio unless you like your imported objs not having all maps assigned, and having maps assigned to wrong channel with random values.Compatibility filter for Omni Shader, dForce etc.Actually there might be only two ways to improve these at current stage:
1) Daz revisits and enhances product naming convention... or add sub-categories / Tags in metadata to differentiate all these sub Hair types (maybe as well as compatibilities to shaders or any add-ons). Well, I personally don't think Daz is willing to do these ~~
2 ) Each time one buys a product, he/she add sub-category or Tags (key words) for easy filtering and differentiation.

Either freebies or for sale, I need more of them in my life. Thanks.
