    These are squirrels common in Europe, Africa and Asia. Next set will be with american ones (western hemisphere indeed, with Abert, American Red, American Black and Variegated squirrels).

  • How to find which morph is used?

    Truth be told, I don't remember installing it at all. It comes with Genesis 8.1 and I believe I just updated the "Genesis 8" folder in smart content once and the 8.1 appeared.

    Anyway, it means the properties can have a morph and a pose together. Is it possible to export only the morph? For example, for the blink, how would one only export the actual morph data, without leftBrowOuter movement? I know how to export only poses without morphs, is exporing only morphs possible?

  • How to find which morph is used?

    Hi!

    I'm trying to understand how to find when a posing contol uses morph targets and which one exactly is used.

    I'm looking at the new Genesis 8.1 FACS system and there are a lot of different properies. In the Properties Hierarchy tab, there are properties called "facs_cbs_...", it's not always clear if those are morphs or poses or both? For example, facs_cbs_EyeLookDownRight_div2 is clearly a morph, because there is no sub-components, it doesn't move any bones. But facs_cbs_EyeBlinkLeft_div2 modifies some bones, like "leftBrowOuter". Is there also a morph target attached or not? How can I find it?

    I'm asking because I try to export those FACS poses to UE4 and I try to minimize the use of morphs, use only bones when possible.

  • Does any skin building script work AT ALL on 8.1?

    Why not? You can then use that skin for a character using the new expression system or morphs made specifically for G8.1.

    And you can always use Map Transfer to create a version with G8.1 UVs if you really want to use those.

    You can make a new morph and then load it onto a base figure with Morph Loader Pro.  This is useful for other reasons too, i.e. if your character has modified scale.  Scale can be a problem for some poses and animation key interpolation (I have found).  There are numerous tutorials around on how to make a morph.  In short, do your characterisation, change to base resolution, export as .obj (make sure no clothes or hair, lashes and so on is visible), import back again onto a base figure with edit -> figure -> morph loader pro.

  • [Released] Hair Converter from Genesis 8 Female to Genesis 3 Female [Commercial]

    Yes, that's probably what happened.

    I just restarted Daz Studio to begin a fresh scene when I encountered the same issue with my converted EmmaAndJordi hairs again.

    I realized the 'height' body shaping parameter is somehow causing the hair to sink into the head. (The character I applied the hair to has her height set to -27). No other G8-G3 hairs are doing this, only the EmmaAndJordi hairs I converted individually about an hour ago. If I change the height setting to +27, the hair floats above the head. Loading up a G3F base figure and sliding the height setting back and forth reveals the hair is not following that particular morph.

    Not sure if there's anything you can do about it though as it seems to be something specific to converted EmmaAndJordi Hairs. But I will post this in case anyone else encounters the same problem with hair not following 'Height'.

     

    All EmmaAndJordi hairs made for G3 have never had this problem with 'Height', only those converted between the generations.

    Here's a screen capture of the issues I'm describing. As you can see, the hair does not follow the pose and behaves like a solid object. The G8 rigging is also not visible in the hair. It just shows Head, followed by the Back, Front and Side branches. Like always, the morphs are also hidden and renamed ''Morph Name_neck...'

    The hair I attempted here is Ibby hair for V4. All V4 hairs behave the same way after conversion. For the pose, I just bent G8's head forward and twisted it a little to demonstrate the effect.

    Did you make your own DS9 uniform?

    Yes and no while the DS9 Uniform I used on my main character was custom made it was a commissioned piece from an associate, which I then ported to DAZ. Additionally that uniform is unique to this specific character. For other DS9 era characters, for now I'm using dazinbane's reskin. - At least until Star Trek Fleet Command (the mobile game) releases their version of it. That TOS uniform I used on Kirk as well as the models that became the foundation for the morphs of the TOS crew came from Fleet Command.

  • How Do I Stop Clothing from Going Through Objects

    Another approach you may wish to learn is making morphs to correct things.

    Depending on the dress your character has fitted each has a tolerance for movement so some you might get away with sitting that character in a chair, others you will not.

    That is not the end of the story, you can deform the dress, you can also make a morph control for the dress. There are tutorials on making morphs.


    A simple example work flow is import the dress into Daz but not fitted to a character. Export it to Hexagon using the Daz Bridge, In Hexagon select points below the knees - shift centre of rotation near where a knee would be if the dress was worn. Twist it all about 20 degrees and line it up get rid of any bad kinks. Soft selectioon on about 0.2 will help. Now send this dress back to Daz using Hexagons Bridge. Accept make a morph. Name it "Bend at Knee."  (can save this morph once tested). If it is imported as a prop it will just become a shell and loose rigging.hence make a morph is the answer here.

    It might take a few tries to get a good looking adjustment morph, I do a few and save the best one.

    Test it by:
    1) Duplicate the item so you have a fresh one to send Hexagon unfitted if need to redo or make another morph.
    2) Fit it to your character and sit them in that chair.. apply the morph 100% and test -200% and 200% (type Knee or Bend in parameters to find it if need)
    3) Set limits on the new morph according to testing.

    If making a series of morphs they will generally work better if each is made from a fresh non morphed start position. This does not prohibit making morphs intended to stack but later you may not remembers to do morph A before morph B.

    Now the thing about this new morph is... it does not just bend the dress 20 degrees if apply it.. that is what 100% does.... You could set it to -200% or 400%.... it has made a control to bend that dress back and forth. You have upgraded the utility of this dress.

     

    There are some dresses you may get with no adjustment morphs, some people make lovely items and give them away as free props. These need such upgrading to make them compete with polished products. Then there are polished products, there are dresses from some of the better published artists available in the store with a tonne of adjustment morphs built in.
    The simple way to save this modifed dress with the knee bend morph is just to use it in a scene once made in a session and it will save with the scene. You can save the dress as a subset then bring it into other scenes with the new morph. You don't need to but you can save it as a modified asset so any new use of the dress will have these modifications. While you are learning you are better to leave the original dress alone and make a variant meaning keep the modified thing in scene subsets.

    Be careful to check if the dress has any preexisting morphs. It it has none and you add some and don't break it then it is improved. Sometimes you get lucky and find the original item has morphs you didn't realise were included.I've added bend morphs to hairs before so they can dangle down when the actor leans over and then found the product already had such morphs! 

     

    Morphing the character can also be an alternative. Example situation: You character is in a dress that follows her well but she sits in a thin chair her rounded butt goes through the seat of the chair with the dress. Solution - make your character a flattened butt morph for used when sitting. Posing youy character just above the chair with a flat butt now stops the dress going through it.

  • What can we do to improve the long load times of characters?

    What I am doing is running a main content library on my core systems SSD, then a secondary content library on my much larger storage drive. My Victoria 4, Genesis 1 and 2 live on the 2nd drive.If I decide I am not using a G3/G8 morph group, don't like the character, only need one eyelash morph and have 5 etc... then those extra can go to the large drive. I'm mostly working in G3.
    I'm normally working in Beta 4.15 and I don't have the big drive mapped as a content directory. If my release version is slow loading I work in the Beta till it gets there... mostly I am using the release version to compose subsets of scenes I then grab into my main working instance.

    In effect the 2nd Content Library is not gone it is just a "back bench" out of my main working flow. However when I am making assets and scenes using the release version it can still see all of this stuff. RE: Back Benching Morphs - I use SceneNotes text files.. where I say what I want to do and what the scene needs... and also normally have OneNote ready to pop up. The reason I mention this is if I decice to backbench a set of morphs I can just quickly expose the path in parameters... then snapshot a view of it into OneNote to tidy up later. This is to stop my work flow going off on tangents. When I do a session of "back benching" morphs I have a visual list on a OneNote page.

    Mostly I will only do backups of the main content (in case of disk failure etc.) and as such keeping it lean saves time.

    Hello Everyone, 

    I am hoping someone can help me with this problem. All my Genesis 8 males apply both James 8 and Christian 8 morphs both body and head. How do I remove the morph or prevent them from loading automatically? I attach an image.

    Ok, so I saved and tested a shape preset, which I've attached. There's not as many morphs applied as I thought, but for everything to work properly there's a bunch of morph packs required, so looking at the "Currently Used" morphs, here's a list of the things you'd need to 100% replicate her.

    Body Diversity Morphs

    Genesis 8 Female Body Morphs

    Captivating HD Faces and Bodies

    Faces of the World - Northern Europeans

    Olympia 8

    Mystique 2 - not for the outfit, but for some of the breast shaping

  • Looking for a specific G8F facial feature morph
    That looks like an eye depth morph. These types of morphs push the orbital area of the eye in or out. There is one here called "Eyes Depth" https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-female-head-morphs

    I use the scaling morphs that come with Sangriart's Osuine and Kayleyss' Aurore to get my G8Fs to be about that size. Osuine is smaller than Aurore.
    What's wrong with the height morph in the base morphs? Just curious.
    Sometimes that scale morph is "baked in". So if you're making a mix character and dial in a short base, the character will get short. There's times you want the shape but not the size. As much as I love to mix with her, I have this problem with Mei Lin 8.

    Not at home at the moment, so can't check but some height-morphs are just scaling the length of bones, and these morphs are not transferred to clothing and hair that's fitted to the character.
    Apparently not much of a problem with clothing and hair that's created for the base figure in question, but when you fit something created for another generation, the fitted item doesn't always understand/follow the height-morph.

    I just spent some time to figure out what was the problem with fitting some clothing to a character.
