  • 200 Plus Puppeteer Interface for Genesis 8 & 8.1 (Commercial)

    MinerDave said:

This is not a helpful reply.  Adequate customer service would have indicated which product I should have got, and which tutorial might have been helpful.  I went back to your page on DAZ and couldn't work out which one Jay used, and if I get interested in using the product again I could rewatch the Webinar again to see which it was, but since I have the same problem as others in not being able to get it to work, I have taken it off my main screen.

Puppeteer is part of Daz Studio, you don't need anything further (except possibly the expressions you want to start from). This thread is about an optional, ease-of-use add-on for the 200 Plus morph set which makes use of Puppeterr; it isn't a change to the behaviour of the basic tool.

Rigging and weight mapping would be nice.

Not going to happen. You ask anyone how to rig clothes and all anyone says is use the transfer utility or use dforce. A search only gives infromation about transfer utility and dforce. No one will give any information on how to rig clothes, they only know how to say transfer utility or dforce. Apparently the concept of rigging by means of properly setting up the bone system no longer exists.

I was thinking more along the lines of articulated props. For exampe, a suitcase or a holdall that opens.Sometimes rigged movement is better than sculpted morphs. Other examples: doors and windows, bendable cushions, snakes and hose pipes, you get the idea.

Jen Greenless has a video on rigging props here

That's unfortunate. That's been the main thing I've been waiting for when they release new tutorials. It's the only software I've ever used where they don't want you to learn how to create your own characters or clothing. On that note, do you know of any tutorials for taking a character or clothing from Blender into Daz and rig it using the transfer utility? Or is that not a thing.

  • Toon Generations compatibility
    The Blurst of Times said:

    What do you mean?

Each Toon Gen gives you a main Toon Gen morph dial, along with a few other dials (like Toon Gen Age, typically). In any case, it's just another shape for that generation of model. (I have Toon Gen stuff for both Genesis 3 & 8 in my library.)

I often blend in partial dials of anything, including Toon Gen. This one is a partial Toon Gen 4 dial...

I was asking about compatibility between the figure, clothes, morphs, and items by gender. I know things like hair can be scaled, positioned and then parented, but will they scale up and down with the age slider, etc.?

  • Auto Muscle Enhancer HD [Commercial]

Thanks to TD, I was able to resolve the character transfer issues I was having, using both the Cross-Figure Resource clone and Transgender clone in a 90/10 proportion, respectively. Attached are four raw renders (save for a light vignette filter) of Kraskwerks' Cyndi, who was packaged originally as a more mature bodybuilder and is gorgeous right out of the box. I have respected her facial features and physical dimensions entirely, using only AME/ASE enhancements of her existing muscularity. Cyndi is featured here as a professional bodybuilder in contest trim, complete with spray-on tan and full-body hair removal. She is anatomically correct in every respect, by the way. I'm quite happy with her as presented here, my only complaint being the perennial one regarding shoe fitment. Even her heels from the dForce Evening Dress Outfit for G8M show some deformation around the toe box area, and to a lesser extent, the heel tips. I'm still searching for a reliable solution to the heel fitment issue for G8M. Thanks again to TD for his continued explorations of, and assistance with, DMaster's products.

There's a good amount of features that I feel either dont have any reasources to learn about, or what reasorces there are don't go in depth enough to learn critical things:

    Dforce wind node

    Ik chains

    Iray section planes

    Strand based hair

    Dynamic clothing

    Face transfer

    Filament PBR

Bloom (Edit, nevermind, that one does have tutorials on it)

I know someone who did some really good video's on how to do that and other kinds of rigging, just not clothes. Anyway they were recently hired by some company and pulled all their video's. Such a shame too cause they were only a year old, which is rare compared to 10 year old video's you find these days.

    There is this fellow...

    Then there's these one's I found...

Here is an actual snake being rigged...lol  There is not sound so click the gear and slow the speed down if it's too fast for you.

I have a question. I have an image that uses three copies of the same two paid-for items. Would that count as six paid-for items, or two paid-for items? [There are 16 freebies, and either 3 or 7 paid paid for items depending on the answer above. Want to use the same character as they are supposed to be sisters.]

I'm pretty sure that should be just 2 paid for items.  Otherwise, the opposite would be true where I could put 5 copies of the same freebie as my "minimum of 5".  In the past, copies or parts of any single product, whether paid or free, were still counted as only 1 product.

That was my thought too, but I don't want to assume. I have tweaked each character a bit with negative emissivity on two, different hair, a little tweak with the G8F body morphs to differentiate them, so despite having the same base morph and texture they don't look like clones, instead look different, but with a close family relationship.

  • Collars and Ties

    certaintree38 said:

    marble said:

What is it with collars and ties? Are they such a huge challenge to PAs? They are certainly a huge challenge for me to get one to look real (or even to fit).

I've just been fiddling with the Trading Floor shirt and tie and it seems to be impossible to prevent the tie from poking through the back of the collar. And the collar does not look real in anything but the base pose. I don't have G8M so perhaps things have improved since the clothes produced for G3M but, looking at many of the promo pictures, I doubt it. I'm also a bit wary of buying G8M clothes to retro-fit to G3M - not sure that it works that well. However, if anyone can suggest a solution for G3M I would appreciate it. I should add that my characters are never standard G3M ... I always have characters morphed to my liking but they are certainly not monsters.

I used  SY G8 clones for G3 for some time and never had a problem. I don't usually do extreme poses/morphs and only used it for a few months before going to G8. But I did definitely do sitting poses and the like, and used custom and PA characters. So YMMV.

OK thanks - good to know. I already have that SY product so I shall give it a whirl. I've avoided buying G8M clothes because I didn't think they would transfer nicely but I have lots of G8F clothing which I will try on G3F to make sure.

I do wish that Sickleyield would include promo pictures with contemporary clothing though. I know that there is a general obsession with the Historical Fantasy genre but some of us are not into it. Maybe I am just a bit overly aware of it at the moment because I've just been trawling through pages and pages of books looking for my next novel and a huge proportion have the kind of fantasy covers that immediately brings my mind back to DAZ.

  • Kiko 8.1 - cute kitsune, stands on her own without a "seasonal passport" or the like

    Daventaki said:

Just out of curiosity, why did they include a purple/blue tail as default and no matching ear fur? Is this one of the textures that's missing?  Also, I'm trying to put a clothing product on her that's designed for G3F and G8F and it's not auto-fitting.  It's Aeon Soul's The Legend.  I thought the G8.1 characters could use all Genesis 8 products except expressions.

You wont get an autofit dialog for g8.1F.  If for some reason its not acting right you can change the Scene ID  but it should work; I just applies to default g8.1f and worked fine for me.

No, I knew I wouldn't get an autofit dialog for G8F but it doesn't fit Kiko.  I tried the G3F version, it did bring the autofit dialog and actually did fit Kiko when it was done.  Very weird...I wonder if the Kiko morph is extreme enough that that it got confused.

  • MimicMolly's Renders & WIPs

Ever since someone pointed out that Josuke Higashikata from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Part 4, Diamond is Unbreakable) looks like Rachel from Blade Runner, I haven't been the same.

You can get the Rachel (Lady Noir) morph from this thread in the freebies section, there is a link to the hair there too.

Don't want to bump this thread, so I'm going to add it here; but I got Kota 8.1's second bundle. The one with the Joe Quick Demon King arm and outfit. I had plans on darkening a right arm texture for G8M because I had an idea with a character like that, so these products were good. However, the character I wanted to do only has a cursed arm, his chest is unscarred. I don't mind rendering with and without the arm. But I gotta wait to download since I have family over and they're using the internet to resume their video conferencing for work.

Thank you for the freebie. This is her with Tasha 8's textures, but modified Ellithia 8 settings. Makeup is a mix of various limited-time Christmas freebies. The eyebrows are from Osuine.

I like her head morph. Reminds me a bit of Stephanie 5, one of my favorite Genesis 1 characters.

It's interesting to see the official promos and the user images where the arm isn't all swole.

When I made it I first made the massive arm morph and then modeled the demon arm on top of that.  Then I placed the eyeballs.

I never anticipated seeing it used in anything but its massive version.

It's interesting that the arm morph was the initial step in the process.

Since the Kota figure is more human, it's harder for the visual sensibilities to say that the assymmetry is "good", maybe. Psychological. It's easier to deal with the regular-size demon arm (as a sleeve) even if it's also a step away from normalcy.

(I'd say that I like dialing things out, but I know that the brain works certain ways, and I would hypothesize that I'm not the only one who dialed out the big demon arm morph as an early experiment.)
