Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.15.0.30! (*UPDATED*)
Is it only me that loading a Genesis 8 figure takes much longer with the August Public Builds ?
I just open DAZ Studio 4.15.0.28 and load a Genesis 8 Female figure into an empty scene and it takes 12 minutes.
With an older Public Build it takes 5.5 minutes (see logs below).2021-08-28 19:18:00.990 +++++++++++++++ DAZ Studio 4.15.0.2 starting +++++++++++++++++

One of the more frustrating was the Boho Dress for G3F which on my Leela character would not fit properly to her shoulders no matter what I did. I actually had to go into the FBMs for the garment itself to make an adjustment which fixed the matter.
Partial dforce without resettingroezaka said:
Isn't the morph reset during the simulation?
No.
I use the timeline for simulation. So while it appears to reset, by the time it gets back to the pose, the morph is there too.
? Less hassle (easier learning curve) FaceGen Artist or Headshop 13?They doth do basically the same thing, take a photo and trun it into a face morph. I have facegen and it works fairly well and is very easy to use. With both apps, the quality of the image will be the deciding factor on how well they work, garbage in = garbage out
? Less hassle (easier learning curve) FaceGen Artist or Headshop 13?Want to take advantage of the CREATE80 sale by getting something from my wishlist that I usually think is too expensive for the limited use that I would have.
Am interested in one of the head photo-to-morph-and-texture plugins.
- FaceGen Artist Pro by Facegen - https://www.daz3d.com/facegen-artist-pro
- HeadShop 13 with LoveChild by Aballone LLC - https://www.daz3d.com/headshop-13-with-lovechild-
1) Duplication? Am I correct in believing they do similar functions? Or does one do something the other does not? Or is there no overlap at all?
2) Ease of use? I am not particularly sophisticated in Studio plugins and don't REALLY need to get morphs close to photographs, so ease of use is relatively more important. How difficult is it to learn these?
Understanding the difference between 18.95 and 44.95 FiguresThere is no real difference. It's all just marketing.
The prices of $44.95 characters (aka "core characters") are artificially inflated to make them seem more valuable and desirable.
Just to illustrate, I don't think anybody can argue that Tika 8 by Thorne is worth more than twice as much as Anakku, also by Thorne.
It's also worth mentioning that many non-core characters come with an HD morph while core characters usually have their HD morph sold separately for another whooping $39.95.
Compare: $84.9 for Mei Lin 8 and her HD versus $18.95 for Xia by Mousso including HD. If this seems ridiculous... well, it is.
Generally speaking, core characters tend to be particularly high quality... but there are so many exceptions in either direction.
For example, I'd argue that Penny 8 or Lucas 8 aren't particularly realistic or interesting characters... but they are core characters.
And there are characters like Novak by Faber Inc or Vernon by Mousso that are so high quality, they could easly be sold as core characters.
In any case, my advice is to just buy what looks good to you, regardless of whether the character is core or not. As you probably know by now, there's always some sale or other happening. With a little bit of patience you can get any character for $5-10, often even less, regardless of their original price. When deciding whether to buy a character at a certain discount, don't look at the % you're saving, look at the actual amount you're spending, and think about whether that's worth it for you.
Diffeomorphic DAZ Importer version 1.6.0 releasedThis release consists of four separate parts:
- DAZ Importer, a Blender add-on for importing native DAZ Studio files (*.duf, *.dsf) into Blender. It also contains some tools to make the assets more animation friendly.
- MHX Runtime System, a Blender add-on for posing the MHX rig.
- DAZ HD Morphs, a Blender add-on by Xin for importing HD meshes and morphs into Blender.
- Diffeo HD Exporter, a DAZ Studio plugin by Donald Dade to export HD scenes to Blender.
Download version 1.6.0 from:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/abda1ext7wbst97/import_daz_mhx_rts_v1_6_0.zip
Main documentation page:
https://diffeomorphic.blogspot.com/p/daz-importer-version-16.html
This release is compatible with Blender 2.80 and later. The last version compatible with Blender 2.79 was version 1.5.1.
Major new features in this release:
- New morphing system using intermediate properties which correctly reproduce morphs in DAZ Studio. How to implement this was explained to me by Engetudouiti.
- New morphing system using simple expressions instead of slow python scripts, as suggested by Xin. This improves performance, in particular on GPUs. It also makes it possible to use expressions on systems where the DAZ Importer is not enabled, e.g. render farms, making the stripped runtime system of previous releases obsolete.
- Easy Import makes it possible to import a character and make it animation-ready in a single step, as suggested by Alessandro Padovani.
- Correct FK-IK snapping for the MHX rig, following suggestions by Engetudouiti.
- Tools for dealing with MHX animations, not just single poses.
- Improved user interface for the MHX rig.
- A tool for converting HD morphs to normal or displacement maps (the DAZ HD Morphs add-on by Xin), and tools for importing these maps into Blender and drive them with the morph strength.
- A tool for fast export of HD meshes from DAZ Studio (Diffeo HD Exporter by Donald Dade).
- Basic support for simulations.
- Many bug-fixes and minor improvements.
This release will probably be the final one when it comes to new features. Version 1.0 of the DAZ Importer was released in 2016, but I looked into importing native DAZ files as early as 2011, so the add-on is already ten years old. It has grown into a much more ambitious project than I ever expected, and is quite enough for my own needs. I will continue to fix bugs and adapt the code to new releases of Blender and DAZ Studio, though.

Here's Ly Waverly, a rather slim character morph, with Hiromi Lace and Actual Hair. Left is Waverly default morph, middle Raw Hobbit and right Raw Dwarph morphs applied on top of default. Actual Hair won't autofit to the Dwarf for some reason but works fine with the Hobbit. DS 4.15.0.2.
I remade one of my characters by looking at the morph list, and still had the problem. I narrowed down which morphs are causing the issue. They are a few from Genesis Evolution: Body Morphs product. They cause the problem on a default Genesis Basic Female if any of these listed below aren't set to 0 (I haven't tested Genesis Basic Male, but probably it occurs there too).
morphs distorting clothes and hair
chest width (makes clothes/hair x scale too much)
chest scale (makes clothes/hair scale too much)
chest depth (makes clothes/hair z scale too much)
torso length (makes clothes/hair y scale too much)
"scaling up abdomen" <NOT MORPH> (makes clothes/hair y scale too much)morphs distorting hair only
neck length (makes hair y scale too much)Not sure why body morphs are affecting hair at all. The chest and torso morphs are also affect clothing on the chest, scaling it about 1.5 times the size things should scale to (eg. 1.5 times the width increase for chest width).

Bwaha-hahaha. Did you ever do photo-typesetting? There were different systems for decorative headlines (say) vs. long(er) passages of text. My impression of the providers of these services were that they were a lofty bunch, protecting their turf.
Nah, nothing so professional for me, I'm afraid. I remember my workplace had boxes and boxes of those transfer sheets and I remember that I had a bad habit of tearing the letters before they came off the sheet completely. But it was all amateur stuff which is why it took me hours. Thank goodness computers saved the day.
My girlfriend in those days was a graphic designer who would literally cut and paste bits of photographs and artwork. She would also use (real) airbrush techniques. Just before we split-up she was given a big new Mac computer and told to learn the new way of doing it. She was devastated.

Trouble posing a plump G8 female figure in a sitting position.Doc Acme said:
Ah drat. Was hoping there was a male couterpart but doesn't seem to be the case.
One of my favorite characters that I've never really been able to fully use is Big George: https://www.daz3d.com/george-for-genesis-8-male
But as I've found, there's very little wardrobe for him and several other large figures. Eventually that's going to be a Marvelous Designer project I suspect. Main problem is that even in the default A-Pose, his upper arms still penetrate this upper Torso.
I use George a lot (only the G3M version) but, as you say, not at full weight, as it were. I tend to dial a percentage of George into a lot of my older males but there comes a point when posing him in clothes causes major problems. I also have Marvelous Designer but it is an expensive but little-used icon on my Desktop so far. I really should do more with it.
Back to the Big Girl Morph issues - I did a few more experiments with G8f and with some of the standard morphs such as Pear Shaped and Heavy and found that they too had the ugly skin-fold mesh issues. Maybe Genesis 9 or Genesi X or whatever comes next will have better JCMs than G8. We can hope although I would rather see a fix for G8.
Booty / Breast collision indentationAt the very least there are commercial morphs for some of this, for example Mesh Grabber. Then there are squish morph sets, and "Real Fit".

AHA! Thank you :)
Now that I have seen what going on, I can see its the pose being the issue. I just went and purchased the pose set, so ask Danie for commission ;)
When you pose the hair, apply the morph "Bring In Shape" to 100%.
Apply the hair setting, Sim Most
When Simulating, you will need to do the animated version, not gravity to get it to work properly. So turn "Start Bones from Memorized Pose" to ON.
That worked, I am satisfied with the results. I thought that you only have to animate when there are collision issues with other items (limbs, clothes) in the final pose. If simple draping is all that is needed, then a non-animated gravity sim should work. I guess I was wrong - Or maybe I should do more experimentation.
I have removed the .duf file from my One Drive, to protect certain copyrighted items.
Thanks for all your assistance, CB25. Working through this has taught me a lot. I love your dynamic hairs!!

Worked on a smaller scene, rebooted, then tried to load the scene again. Desired behaviour: the scene that could be edited gets loaded.
Actual behavior: DAZ stops loading the scene at an arbitrary point, after a bunch of "Could not find output property for formula" warnings like e.g.
(...)
Could not find output property for formula: Genesis8Female:/data/DAZ%203D/Genesis%208/Female/Morphs/Virtual_World/VWLashes/VWLashes%20Lower%20Large.dsf#VWLashes%20Lower%20Large?value in file : /data/DAZ%203D/Genesis%208/Female/Morphs/Virtual_World/VWAndrea/VW%20Andrea%20Head.dsf(...), the nodes (?) get loaded and then the process stops at e.g.
2021-08-27 19:17:21.994 Loaded first morph deltas: 0m 0.12s - /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Projection Morphs/DAZ 3D/Teen Raven 8/pJCMTeenRaven8_ShinBndBckR_HDLv4_proj.dsf<br /> 2021-08-27 19:17:22.016 Loaded first morph deltas: 0m 0.12s - /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Projection Morphs/DAZ 3D/Teen Raven 8/pJCMTeenRaven8_ShinBndBckL_HDLv4_proj.dsf<br /> 2021-08-27 19:17:22.271 Loaded morph deltas: 0m 0.0s - /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs/Mousso/Blue/MSO Blue Lashes.dsfand DAZ stops responding (for hours, e.g. 12+ hs), no further action. (2)
All I can do is killing the DAZ Studio process manually via Task Manager.
I'm aware of https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/336566/long-load-times-fixing-warnings, but changing the monitor didn't help.
Question to the experts: how could I troubleshoot this?
Any hints for workarounds?
Thanks for any suggestion.
Greetings,
Heckbarth

Chevybabe's Dforce SBH Hair ThreadAHA!
So turn "Start Bones from Memorized Pose" to ON.

it removed the morph

I was only disputing the assertion others keep making that DIM cannot delete files, if it installed them it can delete them and an update is one case that can happen without deliberate intervention by the user
DAZ could (if they wanted to) release an update to remove a product from everyone's libraries,
Removing a morph that has been placed inside a wrong file in error is something completely different than removing actual files from the storage media, and as was pointed earlier in this thread, DIM was not even able to remove mispaced textures of an original installation with an update, how could it remove anything else with an update?
At some point the "Staging Chamber" has been free for a select group of customers and they got the offer with a banner, there are messages here at the forums about it, so that is not the question.
John had it installed on his computer as can be seen from the pictures he posted, so that's not the question either.
There has been cases where people have had products disapper from their account, and they have gotten the products back after talking with DAZ, not the question eitherThe question was, where had the product gone, but we couldn't get the information to track down what had happened and now that is not even possible anymore as the product has been installed again.
I did have some ideas, but would have needed answers to figure out, which branch of the "tree" to follow with subsequent questions, but..."Staging Chamber" GONE! WHAT?WendyLuvsCatz said:

installer or DAZ install manager DIM?
DIM quite happily removed dachshund from Dog 8 with an update when it was accidently included with another breed
ON BOTH MY COMPUTERSDid iy remove a product, or did it remove fiels from the main Dog 8 product? The latter is certainly possible, the former not as far as I am aware (and the former is probably relevant here).
it removed the morph
which would have been from the base product I assume
I never found out how it came to be there, I thought maybe with Benji but unsure
I am not fond of dachshunds so never bought it and was not disappointed about losing the bonus at all

the point being an update can fix files installed, I often have the issue of editing textures and updates replacing my edits (mostly because I add alpha to original png files for other softwares)
Now I am guessing Staging Chamber landed in the correct place for John and his scenes open now he bought it
but if not it could have been accidently included with something else and could also explain not finding the files, we will never really know

is unlikely and would not go unnoticed
would be an outcryI can imagine a senario it could happen though if a major intellectual property violation occurred or something and they refunded everyone and did damage control, obviously that would also rely on trust and goodwill of users as many manually download, like a product recall, so far users have kept stuff pulled but if it were something potentially litigious the mechanics exist.
It wouldn't be without user intervention - DIM won't install updates without being told to - but yes, fiels within a product can be removed. However, a product itself can't be uninstalled by an update (it can be removed from the order hsitory, which would remove it from Ready To Download if there was no local copy) and although an update could in principle remove every single file from a product that wouldn't remove the product itself, and would affect all users with that product.
I agree that one possibility is that the Staging Chamber files were included with a separate product for some reason, and may now have been removed - by accident or design. If so then that is where support should be able to investigate and resolve or explain the issue.
