  • HAPPY 4TH of JULY!!!

I was already using Lara, and now I've mixed in Sol, who is also an absolute cutie!

I was still needing some morphs that I couldn't find anywhere for Genesis 8 Female, so I bought RiverSoft Art's Character Convertor - Genesis 2 Female to Genesis 8 Female.

What I couldn't get from Genesis 2 Female, I used GenX2 to send morphs to G2F and then add them that way. I had too much fun and got a little carried away, so I have some morph cleanup to do! ;)

  • An angry rant (but not exactly at DAZ)

Ok, but what about exporting just PBR materials from the other programs and incorporating them into iray Uber Shader in Daz Studio?

There is a Map Master Pro, that suppose to help with the transfer of the maps:

  • Morph Loader Pro stopped working.

OptixPrime setting has not done anything for a while and so was removed, this is down to chnages in the way Iray works.

The Morph Loader issue sounds like having the wrong preset selected in the options dialogue - assuming that no scaling is done by the modelling tool you are using to make the morph you should have the same preset as in the OBJ exporter when saving out the base shape for morphing (or in the importer when loading the mdoel, if you are morphing one of your own creations).

  • saving a morph in a second directory [SOLVED]

    Hi,

so my recent problem of morphs from a 3rd party saving in my folder in my main Content Library begs the question. How do I save a morph into another directory. So many of us do have multiple libraries. I have a 'Quarentine Library' and a 3rd party library for all those non-Daz figures and assets. If I'm saving a morph after fixing someone's schoolboy errors, which I am not immune to, we're all human, how can i tell DS to save that morph to 'Dufuses' Library?

    Thanks

  • I messed up G8M somehow how can I fix it? [SOLVED]

    Hi,

yesterday I was trying to fix a figure I'd bought, however I got really tired and somehow, I've messed up G8M now he loads with a shape. It's the shape of the figure I was using but, I've uninstalled that figure and deleted it. I've checked that nothing is 'currently dialled in' including hidden morphs I even loaded a G8M I have as an obj for Marvelous Designer avetar and tried to do whatever it might have been that I did on the broken figure, no joy at least I can't delete the 'new' G8M basic morph and have G8M fixed, I realise this sounds crazy but no more crazy than a figure I've deleted still being dialled in.) I've deleted G8M from People. I've uninstalled, G8M SE and restarted. Installing again, the shape is back. I've used DIM to uninstall and reinstall as well. I've tired every fix I've ever used and none of them work.

There's obviously something that is not getting deleted and reinstalled but there's so much in the library I don't know what to delete without causing more problems.

I wish I'd never found this guy's page. I'd love to shame him but, I know that will only give him more traffic in the end.

Oh, fixed it! I'd obviously saved the morphs out under default 'Product'.

  • Morph Loader Pro stopped working.

I don't know what to do. My job is frozen, I literally can't work now.

Daz Studio 4.15 is completely non-working, it's garbage, I don't believe they tested it. I have no idea how they could release this. First of all, I noticed that Optix Prime Acceleration was missing in this version. Then it turned out that Morph Loader Pro also stopped working. Since Daz does not host old versions, I had to searched the Internets to find them. Found 4.12 and 4.14. The Accelerator returned, but morph loader did not. I tried reinstalling both versions, it has no effect somehow.

When I try to load a new morph in the loader it says it worked. BUT result is always the same - new morph just changes model size, nothing about the shape. My job is paralized!

Is there a way to fix it?

  • Genesis 8 male pose on genesis 3 male

I have done a few pose transfer scripts (14 at last count, mostly generation 3 & 4 to/from generation 7 & 8) and the one that may be of interest will allow the use of M4 poses on G3M, it's here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/451536/m4-h4-f4-g3m-bi-directional-pose-transfer. Hope it allows you to extend the range of available poses you can use.

  • Restore Figure Rigging not working help. [Solved]

    Hi,

so, I bought a figure from someone who has yet to fix it so I have tried to do it myself. I thought I had until I posed and realised that rigging was off. I was a bit overwhelmed by the 6 dials so I dialed out the HD's then the Head and noticed that the head morph changed the size of the body. I realised that the muppet had used the top of the head as a reference for dialing in the head morph and since the head is pretty big the body shrank to compensate. So, I fixed that and rigged the head. Then the only thing left was the body. Restore Figure Rigging refused to do anything so i tried to make the body morph anew but DS still wouldn't budge on the rigging. What's going on? What would stop Daz from automatically restoring rigging and, of course, how can I fix it without having to do every bone manually which is beyond what my brain could deal with?

    Thank you.

neat morph! and very useful when you want to use wardrobe etc that don't autofit well with G8M.

i didn't use it as such, i found the arms were a little bit long, the hands a little bit big, and the legs a little bit short - but then again, i dunno if MY idea of a male body have anything to do with reality, lol. and i mixed a bit of asian face, thin, etc cuz that's how i like my male figures. i'm just a bit unsure about the shoulder part, i can't describe it but... still, great morph, appreciated! it will be used ^^

anyways, no problem with G8F/M skins, unlike you mentioned i didn't find the nipple area as problematic (big) as with other F2M morphs, great with difficult G8F wardrobe (see pic). i also had to adjust hand postions but otherwise it worked fine! i think the result is even a bit milder (less butch) than with a G8M clone.

    Thanks !!
yes from your render look like there is a problem in between shoulder and arm..I'll try to check it in the next days.

I picked up a pair of sweet "little" pair of shoes during June.  (Just getting around to testing the few things I purchased.)  PreT Girls Strap Shoes for Genesis 8 Females  I am very happy with the purchase.  Not only did they work with G8, the youth morph, and Buggaboo with no issues, but also the shoes materials can be mixed and matched. .  I glanced through the promo pictures, but assumed each was a specific material, rather than one of many possibilities.

The only thing I found was I had to reposition arms/hands from G8M and G3M poses, otherwise everything worked really well. Took textures from both G3 and G8 Males, as well as clothes, hair and shoes.

The only thing I would suggest is make the body and head morphs seperate so other morphs can be applied. For example, in my image I used the morph at 50% and then applied breasts gone to flatten the chest again, so that I could apply another morph to the head.

    You did a great job.

    Thanks for feedback.

I'll check the fingers in the next update... the arm are longer than G8F (and even the legs) so when you use closed arms/legs pose there could be pose problems but the finger are in a different pose than default G8F and it should give more evident problems.

For breaking the morph (head and body) I'll study how to do it... the morph changes head, neck and chest so I have to find how to break without create distortion in the mesh.

  • genesis 8.1 problem exporting textures of the body

Go to the surfaces tab and hover over the texture thumbnail. It'll give you the filepath for the texture map. Just go to that folder, copy the textures from there, and bring them into whatever program you're using manually.

Textures often don't transfer well between programs, so you're better off just recreating them than relying on an importer.

  • Shader Mixer Tutorial

In the recent "What Do You Want to Learn?" thread, there were quite a few requests for Iray Shader Mixer tutorials. Including one from me, wherein I remarked I'd have better luck trying to transfer my knowledge of Blender's Shader Editor over to Daz Studio and figure it out on my own.

    Well, I've now done that.

And let me tell you, the Shader Mixer may sound confusing, and look confusing, but don't let that fool you.

    It really is confusing.

Nonetheless, I soldiered on and figured out (roughly) how it works. My findings are documented in a thread in the Blender subforum, since it's mainly about how to recreate Blender shaders in Daz, but there's some simple illustrations and I just did a deep dive on how the Uber Shader works, so even if you're not a Blender user you can probably get something out of it.

  • [Released] Clothing Converter from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 Female [Commercial]

    N00b4Ever said:

    Hi RiverSoft.

Hope things are well with you.

First off, let me jump the bandwagon and say your G3F to G8F conversion tool is amazing. Not only is as good or better fitting than the auto-fit from Daz, but it also retains the clothing mophs after the conversion. I noticed sometimes you lose that capability on certain products when using the Daz auto-fit. My biggest complain with your tool is that now my bank account and my wallet are taking a hit because I find myself buying G3F clothes which I didn't expect .

Having said that, I have a request. I noticed that for clothes with long sleeves or gloves, the conversion loses accuracy the farther you go from the shoulders through the arms. My guess is that the angle of rotation when transposing from T-pose to A-pose is slightly off. Is there any chance you can look into this? I know that if the glove fully covers the hand you can simply turn off the hand, but when is only partial that doesn't work.

Sadly, you are going to get errors like this.  The script uses the generally accepted transformations for G3 to G8.  Adding a smooth modifier can help a lot of times to fix things though.

Also, because apparently I'm a masochist and f*** my bank account and wallet, I also bought the G2F to G8F conversion tool after seeing how good G3F to G8F is. However, when using G2F to G8F so far, all my conversions end up being larger than expected and I find myself adjusting "shrinking" the clothes for a better fit. In this case, sadly, the Daz auto-fit seems to work better, at least for me. My question, if I use the G2F to G3F conversion and then use the G3F and G8F conversion on the converted product, will I get a better result or is the the same as G2F to G8F?

The G2 to G8 converters had to work differently, and thanks to Sickleyield, it is possible.  It uses special morphs we called conformers to pull the clothes to the correct shape.  From the manual:

Converted Items are too loose on the figure. The Clothing Converter script morphs the clothing using the clothing conversion conformers. Occasionally, the conformers make the converted clothing too loose (see Figure 9). Thankfully, this is easy to fix. When the clothing items are converted, a lot of helper morphs are added to address fit issues. The helper morphs are in the Parameters pane, below Actor->Converter Morphs (see Figure 10). Adjusting the Tighten All morph and turning on Smoothing can fix most issues. Otherwise, there a lot of additional morphs you can use to tweak the fit.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers.

  • duplicate key - is it proof of illegal use of morphs, if not how can i fix it?[Solved]

Hi, I've bought some characters from someone via DeviantArt, they're riddled with  duplicate key error which loads now with every G8M.  Here's the log attached.

Do these duplicate key errors mean that they've used Daz figures to build their morphs? I've contacted him about these errors and he's refused to do anything about it. That was nearly two months ago. Inf fact he refused to accept that there were errors at first and said I was the only person to complain about it. Like it's my fault. I uninstalled the figures until this morning when I figured I'd see what I could do. He's not a very nice person it seems and I've given up trying to do anything but the decent way. If he's used Daz figures from other PA's fraudulently then who am I to interfere with the wheels of justice?

If everything is fine then how can I fix it? I've just done an ERC Bake on the first dial and nothing happened. I mean, there were no other dials linked to it other than on hidden morph which still dialled in after the bake.

Thank you SO much!  Attachment 1.  I created the initial shape using Phatmartino’s “Parameters” tab morph recommendations (i.e., Hair Length All 100%, L Side Move Back 100%, R Side Move Back 100%, Hair Wind Left 30%, Hair Wind Right 30%) then set Self-Collide Layers 4, 3, 2 “On” with Layer 1 “Off.”  Changing Self-Collide prevented the few remaining stands of hair from coming forward.

I will definitely move the arms up prior to simulation for another pose I want to use this same hair shape with.

    Bests always!
