Show Us Your Bryce Renders! Part 9
Cheers, Stuart...will next try to get a reflection in the eye...might be interesting.
Question to anyone: The new Victoria 7 model is out for a while now, and wondering if full genitals is included?. No, I'm not some kind of 'perv', but would like to have said (genitals with Male version, too) available, as I've always felt not having them was somewhat limiting if wanting to experiment with, say, works in glamour, erotica...etc. Yes, I understand, the issue of DS being used by young people, or kids etc.,, and so such available options wouldn't be suitable, but, that said, DS seems to promote big-breasted, half-naked women anyway, so that's kinda a no-no, too, these days, but it's still there for kids to see. I've seen some full genital works the odd time in DeviantART that used DS, but wondered what models (Genesis 2, 3??) were used to create such works.

PS. DId life classes (naked live models etc.,) some time back, so you can see my interest.
The answer is yes, they are only in the Pro version though, not in the base figure packages,
NEW! Novica & Invited Guest Contributors Tips & Product Reviews Pt 6Coming up- a different look at Bethany.
1.) Replaced the materials with Summers.
2.) Made Surface Pane changes so far as the Base, Translucency, Metallic Flakes, etc. In other words, my own custom blend. So not "Summer" anymore.
Also darkened the iris color and the lip color via Surface Pane.
3.) Using body part sliders only (no People sliders, like dialing in Victoria 7, etc) made a custom character.
If you don't like the muddy-ruddy or orangey skins of Genesis 3, you can putz in Surfaces and create a wonderful spectrum of skin tones and sheen. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you see what you can do with Bethany- what I like is the arms and legs. They have such a realistic weight added to them, and by reducing that massive bust and thinning the hips a bit, you get a gal that's solid without being busty. The thighs were toned and reduced slightly. What I was going for (and am very happy with) is a heavier figure that isn't a model, that has hips and a thicker waist, solid shoulders and legs, with meat on her bones!
I am running errands and this is currently rendering. I'll be back in about an hour- storms coming in so have to get out the door. (8:36am central time.)
All of those 7 characters... kinda of confusing....pointless tooExcept for Victoria and Michael (since they were present at each generation), the number in the character name has always indicated the generation, not the iteration of that figure. David started as D3, there was only one version of Stephanie and Aiko before SP3 and A3, the first version of Lee, Gia, Olympia or Gianni was 6....

yes she is nice even though others have said could make do with what they have gen2 using shapeshift, belly control and other morph packs which I have too and love it is still nice to have a premade base this good and makes it easier to use as a starting point for more character shapes once zevo releases shapeshift 3 as well as others
oh besides the daz morphs which aren't that many in the current backs they are still good starting point more morphs the better so get as many from different artists as you can I say there is also another called Metamorphosis for Genesis 3 Female(s) oh and think Barbarian and Succubus for Bethany 7 has some morphs too
now onto Beth's Pro Bundle do like it few things though love the gangster outfit and the other two in my pic (I mostly do pinup and fantasy) now the hat with the gangster outfit apparently has fits for just about all the gen3 hairs but not really gotten it to work yet anyway but at least you can resize the hat but if you notice still had some pokethrough speaking of pokethrough tried the Corset Dress Outfit for Genesis 3 Female(s) you get on the Sophia character and had heaps of pokethrough couldn't seem to fix either posing her different or dress adjustments maybe just her the three characters are slightly different builds so don't know abouth the other two though this does bring up about other clothing on Betnany size characters whether or not other clothing will work for her. Next up hairs they are nice but when you have Beth or any other g3 selected then click hairs you see all the the generation 3 hairs except Casino Hair for Genesis 3 Female(s) the only way to see that to select use is deselect your character then go into your hair menu again to find select it then do the attatch/parent option to your character just like using any other hair/clothing/product made for any other generation other than the one your using . No addition makeup/nail options still other than those added with the non Daz made characters. Still all in all still a nice Pro Bundle have the Victoria 7 and Eva 7 Pro Bundles too and yes I like all three
All of those 7 characters... kinda of confusing....pointless tooI dont mind the new characters and i welcomed them but they way they are named is kind of misleading. There was not Bethany or Eva as far as i know before which may lead people to say "Hey what did i miss?"
Plus the fact that Victoria is supposed to be the flagsship character and having several new figure with the number seven is probably very detrimental for her sales. Why don't they do it as before like? Bethany for G3F or something like that. I dont get where Daz is going with this... Its like they dont like their main character anymore...or is it because the characters shapes cannot be transfered to g3F? if that is the case then g3f has some serious limitations if you ask me.
peace
Thread title edited to replace misleading with confusing.
Daz Studio 4.8 Content Directory Getting Lost SometimesI don't know if this is the same issue or not, but I can't seem to figure out how to restore the folder menu view - I'm going to call it that since I can't find a manual with proper names for these things. Originally, I could see a content library menu that allowed me to work left to right through runtime directory folders - for example: People > Genesis 3 Female > Victoria 7 - and then view the contents of the folder below. Now all I can see is a searchable database window, which also doesn't have the button for adding runtime directories. I must have clicked *something* to cause this, but simply trying to back up pages isn't the answer. What am I missing here?
What generation is V5?Don't confuse "Generation 1" with "Genesis1". Genesis1 started at 5th generation. Using only Victoria as an example, we have:
Generation 1 V1
Generation 2 V2
Generation 3 V3
Generation 4 V4
Generation 5 V5, Genesis1
Generation 6 V6, Genesis2
Generation 7 V7, Genesis3
etc.
What generation is V5?Victoria 5 is 5th generation; Bethany 7 is seventh (current generation/Genesis 3).
There is no Genesis 5...yet.
What generation is V5?I'm a bit confused on the generation business. I noticed a character called Bethany 7. Is this character a Genesis 2, 3 or 5 character. Victoria 5 came with my Cararra 8.5 upgrade. Is Victoria 5 a generation 2, 3 etc?
What generation is V5?I'm a bit confused on the generation business. What is the difference between Victoria 5 and Victoria 3 (or 2 for that matter). I noticed a character called Bethany 7. What Prompts Your Decision To Buy (Or Not Buy) A Figure?I bought way too many characters for V4, Genesis and G2F without really putting too much thought into why I wanted them. My runtime library is littered with characters that I will propbably never use. Now that G3F has arrived on the scene, I'm determined to avoid making that mistake again.
From now on a character will have to have a unique or realistic face or a high quality texture set if I am to be tempted (I wonder if there will be any Elite Texture sets for G3F/V7 etc).
I will, probably, buy most of the DAZ base characters (I already have Victoria 7, Eva 7 and the gorgeous Bethany 7), simply in order to have a variety of body shapes and some different texture sets. Custom morph sets by Zev0 and Posermatic are always a no brainer for me. I really hope Zev0 is planning to release a version of Fit Control for G3F/V7 soon. I love the Sculptured Reality characters by Adam Thwaites over at Most Digital Creations, so I hope he releases a few SR characters for G3F.
What really puts me off of buying a character are things like :
- HD characters that cannot be loaded without the HD morphs.
- Characters that look very similar to the vendor's last release.
- Characters that are "Optimized for Iray, but will work with 3Delight".
- Characters that have Iray promo renders only.
- Price.
Bethany 7 - a different shape!Won't buy Victoria 7, don't like her, but Bethany made it into my wishlist at once. And for me, whishlist says, I will definitely buy her one day soon.
Bethany 7 - a different shape! That being said, I really wonder why this shape is released a mere 2 weeks after Victoria 7b.
I say wait two weeks and you may or may not have an answer. Or 3 weeks maybe. perhaps the turnaround time has increased even over what we saw at the end of G2.
I would merge posts. but can't delete one so oh well.
Bethany 7 - a different shape! Thanks for this shape DAZ, really great that you're adding some variety to gen7. Please keep at it!

That being said, I really wonder why this shape is released a mere 2 weeks after Victoria 7b. I am completely broke and I wouldn't be surprised if that goes for everyone else as well. Do you believe you can get us tap into out food-fund with this? But if that's the case and if it's true that only white super-models really sell then why not release her as the follow-up instead of the 'risky' shape?
Do you not want to sell Bethany? Or is this some kind of marketing trick I don't get?
...or maybe they just simply don't follow any strategy. Not sure which is better.
Bethany 7 - a different shape!Character-shape is okay, skin tone and lighting reminds me too much of Victoria 7-unattractive and sallow. . Definitely a downgrade since Victoria 6 promo art. clothing in content bundle I would not use, hair is good. I'm passing for now.
Bethany 7 - a different shape!Sounds good..
CHEERS!
I'll post a few renders in a new thread here soon. I've been most of the day prepping renders of the final shape and the interim textures. I have to do a partial rebuild of those with some of the tools I picked up for this purpose.
AUGH Can't remember the last time i have wanted so much from daz store... totally love this set and totally broke! But Daz thank you for making this lovely shape.... She's absolutely gorgeous!!!
She's def on my wishlist but I'm totally tapped out after buying Victoria 7 and Eva stuff and accidentally overdrew for like, first time ever (omg how embarrassing....!!!!) So hope that shows how much i am loving genesis 3 and all these things. And I will definitely get this darling Bethany set soon as my bank account recovers (ouch that overdraft cost.... ouch ouch).
I so want to see renders guys! Show me more Bethany!!!!!! And PAs, great work on her content too :)
There's a feeling I know all too well...
Previously Installed Content Missing from Smart Content After Update from 4.7 Pro to 4.8 ProReality is NOT A RENDERER!
You'll be comparing Iray to Luxrender...and yes, Iray is faster.
True, but the only reason I ever use Lux is for Reality so in my mind they're interconnected. I know it's actually Luxrender. It is good to know that IRay is faster which I assumed with CUDA. How's quality? Some of the stuff I've seen so far looks really good.
Edit - Actually... ran into one problem. The Materials Editor no longer displays the different shader colors that can be used with the Liquid Shaders Pack. It's the only one that I can tell that won't display its available materials.Edit #2 - It displays the shader colors in the Content Library however - just not in Smart Content like it used to.
Edit #3 (Hopefully last one) - and it doesn't seem that DAZ is associating the two together. When I try to select a shader for the liquid pack from the Content Library nothing happens.
You have the object and at least one surface selected when you try to apply the shader? What path do they appear in?
I think the database was still indexing because the shaders now appear in Smart Content. My problem was I was using the Universal Tool so it selected the object but it didn't select the surface. In Daz 4.7 I used to just double click on the water surface and select the shader I wanted to use; in this case Water. It does appear to be working correctly once I moved over to the surface selection tool (rookie mistake by me).
For the record, the path displayed is correct:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Props\JoLab\Liquid Pack\ShadersNow onto installing a lot of the new content and testing IRay out. In my test render it seemed to render far faster than Lux; I just need to figure out the lights now as I'm used to having to insert the Reality lights and adjusting from there. And of course, I need to test out the Victoria 7 Pro Bundle too compared to the older Genesis 2 figures.

Previously Installed Content Missing from Smart Content After Update from 4.7 Pro to 4.8 ProNo, I don't believe I was. I installed it once and everything dissappeared (I was still getting to learn DAZ than - it was around 4.5/4.6; I hadn't touch DAZ since the Victoria 3 days prior) so I removed it and everything returned to normal in 4.6. DAZ 4.7 never asked - it wasn't until 4.8 I tried to give it another whirl as when you cross over 900 pieces of content you really do need a reliable database and although PostgreSQL is something I commonly use I have heard good things about it.
After ressetting the layout, I checked the Content Directory Manager and saw while DAZ and Reality content was pointed right, Poser Pro 2014 was pointed to the DAZ library which I'm sure has some Poser content so I added the proper Poser path.
Than I looked at where the CMS was pointing and it was pointing to the old User Account's:
%AppData%\DAZ 3D\cmsThan I changed that to point the new User Account's (since I used Windows Easy Transfer from Windows 7 on the 8.1 platform there's some quirks that the Windows 10 install fixed but others I'll have to fix by hand) CMS directory which is a carbon copy of the old one.
Finally, as you suggested, I re-imported the metadata and everything and than some showed up (there used to be content I had to browse for).
So everything is all fixed up and I can try out IRay finally. I'm interested in seeing how it compares to Reality Engine 4 as usually OpenCL vs CUDA - CUDA always wins.
Thank you so much Fixmypcmike!
