  • How to fix Distorted of V4MuscleMaps on GF2?

I need to put "Victoria 4 Muscle Maps" on "Genesis 2 Female" so I used

"Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female"

    and

"V4 Skins Auto Converter for Genesis 2 Female"

I changed the "UV Set" to put the "Victoria 4 Muscle Maps" on "Genesis 2 Female" succeed finally

    but   ... edited ....

Do not use this: "V4 Skins Auto Converter for Genesis 2 Female" ... you do not need to here.

The first product ["Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female"] gives G2F the V4 uvmap option.

You may have to "manually load" the V4 textures to G2F the first time, then save a new preset to load it the next time.

    .................

Some other items that may be of interest for muscles would be to give G2F some ...

    http://www.daz3d.com/muscularity-morphs-for-genesis-2-bundle [has for both F and M]

    http://www.daz3d.com/muscularity-morphs-for-genesis-2-female-s [just for F]

SimonWM's promos are using the V4/M4 muscle maps on the G2 figures.

I have tried to "load the V4 textures to G2F manually and save a new preset to load it the next time" but it's still distorted, no help at all..

I have already used the products you have mentioned in those screenshots but as you see it's still distorted, no help at all..

I have seen SimonWM's promos which is using the V4/M4 muscle maps on the G2 figures but the distorted is hidden by the angle. As my version it must be front and back angle so I have to trying my best to fix the distorted ..

    Thanks for trying..

  • Show Daz that Carrara users are a market worth supporting! How many Product Pages do you have?

I pretty much have gone completely genesis and genesis 2.   That doesn't mean that I don't still use my legacy content for the older figures or their shapes.  I have the clones to convert legacy content for use with genesis and genesis 2.  I also have the clone morphs to make genesis and genesis 2 look like the legacy figures.  Now, even if I intend to use Aiko3 or The Freak or Victoria 4 or David 3 or whatver, I still end up using Genesis or Genesis 2.  I found that I can just ignore the protected topology warning for the genesis 2 "actor" level.  [Cut]

Great! Already have some clones in wishlist and will make sure the clone morphs get added. I've nearly abandoned Genesis and jumped on the Genesis 3 band wagon but not completely given up on Genesis 2 yet. Thanks for giving me hope that all my 3rd and 4th generation content will not go unused.

  • Free Hair and Hair related Items List

What do hair fits mean? You need to have the hair to fit the character or something like that? :/ If I don't have Dusk it won't work in mine?

Hair fits are custom morphs for a hair prop/figure originally designed for one figure to allow it to fit on a different figure. For instance, If i have a hair set for Victoria 2 (a really old generation figure) and want to fit that hair on Kids 4, I would use a Kids 4 hair fit for that hair in order to fit the hair to K4.

Oh I see... Shouldnt it all work when a hair is for V4 that is the same as Genesis?

Genesis hair doesn't normally autifit to Dawn or Dusk. Those are third party figures and aren't set up with Genesis clones for Autofit. Thus, the need for Hair Fits to fit Genesis hair to Dusk and Dawn.

I see... Thanks for explaining :)

  • Can't apply skin to Genesis 3 genitalia

If you want Teen Josie to grow up with gens then you have to use an alternate Texture set other than Josie's.

Load Josie into the scene. Apply the Gen prop to her body. Then apply victoria 7's texture set to josie and the gen prop and wahlaa, she's all grown up!

  • What software would I use...?

Lets take zBursh for example... Import Micheal 4/Victoria 4 skeleton mesh into zBrush using the Daz Studio to zBrush bridge. Draw in the figure into zBrush and go into edit. You will need to examine how zBrush interpreted the skeleton model such as how many subtools were created and what bones or parts of the model are subtools. What you want to do is organize your model into workable subtools by taking the existing imported arrangement and reconconfiguring it to your specific needs, by creating new polygroups and then creating new sub tools. A sub tool is a part of model. For example a skeleton could have the human skull as a sub tool, the rib cage could be a sub tool and so on. You could take the rib cage and further isolate different parts of it using polygroups and convert those groups into sub tools. The point is you are organizing the model into working parts where you can take each part/subtool resculpt the bones/parts/subtools to differents sizes and shapes using the variety of brushes in zBrush to construct your demon.

Once you have your demon model/mesh created then you polypaint and create UVs and textures. If want your demon to have moveable limbs so you can pose the monster in daz studio then you will need to rig your model. Daz Stuido provides tools for rigging a new mesh/model/geometery.

Hope this gives you some insight.

  • HDR Lightning with Iray - HOW?

My statement broke it down to the lowest level. ;-)

We are talking about 3D-Lighting, that means faking real light. It is up to the artists how good he is in faking real world situations. :-)

Still tweaking settings, adjust intensities, re-render again ... it doesn´t matter how good your HDRIs might be. Maybe easier but it will belong to the artist to make it look good. ;-)

That's not the same as not being able to actually light a scene...a good HDRi is just as capable of actually casting light as any other 3D light.

Yes, it ultimately does come down to the artist, but it's been quite a while since an image wasn't just used as an image, but as a light source.

Never said it isn´t posible to light a scene with an HDRI.  Just said it is a capture of the sun at a specific time on a specific location. A capture of the sun will never be like the real sun. ;-)

Victoria will not get a sun burn when she is exposed to a Beach-HDRI. :-)

  • Tips and Tricks of DAZ Studio Optitex Dynamic Clothes

Can we have some Dynamic clothes for Victoria 7 please. :)

Skirts, underwear mostly as there is other stuff out there.

Yes this is being planned. Sorry I haven't been able to be as active in this thread as I would have liked.

    Some recent videos:

    And my latest:

    Some tips for Iray rendering:

When rendering in Iray its advisable:
1-To freeze the simulation for more stability.
2-We recommend you add a smoothing modifier since it makes dynamic clothes in Iray look better. (Scene Tab/Edit/Geometry/Apply smoothing modifier) Smoothing Type works best as Generic. Iterations can be left at 2. Choose your model as Collision item.
3-A Smoothing modifier is almost enough to make the cloth look good but you can also try to add converting the resulting mesh to SubDivision using Edit/Geometry/Convert To SubD.  Do not use Bilinear subdivision as it will give you jagged clothing folds, Catmull Clark Legacy seems to work best in Iray.
4-Increase Texture Resolution in the Advanced Tab of the Render Settings Panel to 2048 Medium Threshold and 4096 High Threshold.

  • Ancient egyptian wigs

People in ancient egypt wore several styles of wigs (at least nobles etc.). I think it is somehow difficult to find hair objects on DAZ 3D which could be used in order to mimic old Egyptian wigs.

Depictions of ancient Egypt wigs usually appear with a rich volume of braids. There must have been wigs with very short braids, very long braids (similarly to the Vidal Braids) and something inbetween actually for both men and women. What I am missing the most in all hair objects (or wigs) so far are braided hairstyles with really wide lush braids and those with mixed length and size in one piece or even braids either starting as several thinner braids ending in one thicker braid or the other way round (thick starting braids getting split up into several thin ones). And off course, braided wigs could be adorned with beads and end caps etc. And some braids could also be staggered or stepped.

Vidal Braids for Genesis 2 Female(s) / Male(s) by AprilYSH is actually looking really nice in general (http://www.daz3d.com/vidal-braids-for-genesis-2-female-s / https://www.daz3d.com/vidal-braids-for-genesis-2-male-s ), but in my opinion lacks a wig-like character. Also the very first row of hair strands of Vidal Braids is not parted in two braids (one left, one right), rather it is just one braid, which makes it somehow unrealistic. But the Vidal Braids could actually be or become a starting point for a certain kind of wig-like look for ancient Egypt-styled wigs (long braids with medium-sized circumference of the braids).

I should not forget mentioning the particularly Egypt-focussed products like:

Pharaohs of the Sun for M3 (http://www.daz3d.com/pharaohs-of-the-sun-for-m3 )

Pharaohs of the Sun for V4 (http://www.daz3d.com/pharaohs-of-the-sun-for-v4 )

The Rulers of Egypt for Victoria 2 +1 (http://www.daz3d.com/the-rulers-of-egypt )

    Serpent Goddess (http://www.daz3d.com/serpent-goddess )

Off course the above wig objects are usable, but at the same time they are quite limited to certain styles. So I wished that some 3D modelers with interest in ancient Egypt would keep on generating much more typical and realistic wig objects with many variations of braided-style-wigs with or without beads etc.

  • Genesis 3 female is missing in Poser

Genesis 3 Female was installed in My DAZ 3D Library folder via DIM. But I discovered that G3F contents including Victoria 7 were not installed properly for DSON in Poser. I tried to figure it out what went wrong and no clue why G3F contents aren't in DSON within Poser. Anyone has this problem? Appreciate any answer. Thank you.

  • G3F - Third Party Add ons do their Job until saving the scene

Hello, I know I should not open so much discussions but I do not know two what discussion this could fit.

I have bought two 3D-Party add ons for G3F.

    1. Is "New Genitalia for V7" at Renderotica

    2. Is "Genital Hair for NewGens for Victoria 7"

    So it works:

You load your G3F, select GF3 and add "New Genitalia for V7"

You select "New Genitalia for V7" and add "Genitalia Hair for V7"

After doing this the hair follows all G3F morphs as well as the "genitalia" morphs, so far so good.

If you know save the scene, clear the scene and load the scene new the "New genitalia for V7" works correct but the Hair just follows all G3F morphs but no longer the morphs of the "New Genitalia for V7". To fix this you have to delete the genitalia and the hair, add the genitalia new and add the hair new, then everthing works again until you save the scene. Next time you load the scene it begins right from the start with no following of the genitalia morphs.

Has somebody an idea what causes this problem?

  • Help Me Clear Things Up!

I had to buy the Michael 5 shape for Genesis I guess would be more accurate.  There seems to be a lack of M5 specific content too--though he can wear any Genesis clothing, I've been dissapointed with there not being as many characters/ textures for him.

True there aren't a ton of M5 character sets, but at the same time remember that you can apply M4 UV's to your Genesis1 and therefore use any M4 character texture too, plus with the GenX plugin you can also import very close to the same morph shape for your favorite M4 character onto your Genesis1 too.  If any of the Genesis2males textures catch your attention  there's a product by Slosh which allow you top put V6/M6 UVs on your Genesis1 so you can use those M6 textures too. (http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-6-and-michael-6-uvs-for-genesis)

I feel like I got suckered into buying a lot more Genesis2 content that I don't really need or use, when I prefer by far working with Genesis1.  I often hear murmurs about how Genesis1 doesn't have enough content support, but since I can use any of my V4/M4 stuff (and the content makers are still currently creating tons of V4/M4 products) I don't really see a much limitation for Genesis1, which can use the same clothing on a male or a female shape equally well.

  • Help Me Clear Things Up!

Seams can be dealt with in postwork.  I still like M4 and have a lot of stuff for him.  He's by far my favorite Daz Male figure to date. IT would be very nice if Daz would simply sell the genitals separately--I don't like having to buy a bunch of stuff I probably won't use just for that one part.  IT would be more fair to give people the choice; people who are offended by such things could skip it and those who want it can buy it and just get other content they want to use.

I guess I'm confused too because we have http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-6-michael-6-hd-add-on-bundle, which is why I thought the Genesis 2 Male was Michael 6.  I am not finding many Michael 6 specific things.  When I search on it I have found Scott and Giani--both of who you need to buy the pro pack to have them be anatomically correct.  Well I guess I missed the boat on that one--the big sale that was just on.  I tend to like Giani better; so are Giani and Scott considered to be Michael 6 figures or are they figures unto themselves?

  • Help Me Clear Things Up!

As you all know I've been away from CG work for a while but am now getting into it again.  Is Michael 6 and Victoria 6 the Genesis 2 male and female?  This has confused me.  Before I stopped doing Daz Studio/Poser work, we were given a Genesis figure family--including children and then there was Michael 5 which was a separate Genesis Model.  So now we have Genesis 2 and I'm confused, because there still seems to be content being made for the original Genesis figure--and I believe that there is a Genesis 3 figure as well--but it's not free--am I right?  Is Scott the new Genesis 3 Male?  There is no 6th Generation Freak right?  At least not yet.  I'm behind so please explain the differences to me.  There doesn't seem to much Genesis 2 male content, but it seems I can adapt first Generation Genesis outfits to it.

I'm also confused as to how the Install Manager installs Poser Specific content.  It seems like everything now comes with a Daz Studio and DSON Poser file; but some characters can be installed directly into a Poser runtime without being installed into Daz Studio's confusing content library.  I had my installer set to put the DSON Module into my Poser 10 installation, but I didn't want Poser specific content to go to the Poser 10 runtime, but anohter runtime of my own choosing, so I changed the path for Poser content to that folder---will that work, or should I download Poser Specific files and just use the Install Manager to install Daz Studio contnet.

  • Why I won't be buying anything else for G3F

..so if you don't do sculpting (not eveyone can afford ZXBrush) Evenly sized quads for SubD has got to be one of the stupidest things said in this forum. And this comment has apparently been said by the creator of the G3F mesh.

Yep, I said that. And yes, I've modelled every base mesh since Victoria 4. Evenly spaced quads are for sculpting, so you avoid rectangular polygons - which artifact when sculpted across because of the detail scale change - which most modelers/sculptors know.

More goals are balanced with the G3 mesh - even quads, fewer direction changes, smaller polygon footprint, and better distribution. I design the models for the tech at hand and the usage goals. I could go through each of the choices one by one, but that wouldn't convince anyone who doesn't like them.

...so if you don't do sculpting what is the advantage then? Not everyone can afford ZBrush and/or the time to learn sculpting/modelling.

It benefits the people who do, obviously. After all, we wouldn't be here buying characters if we could all do it ourselves.
