Centaur 9 is very much tempting me to restart Premier *right now,* tonight. I've got a lot of use out of the G3 Centaurs and still use them. I never got the G8 centaurs because they didn't seem to be much of an improvement over the G3 version, especially in the human/equine transition zone. Centaur 9 looks somewhat better, enough I want to upgrade. Plus I like the other bundled items. I don't love that it's still only got 4 items, but at least it's 4 items not "3 items plus an HD morph."
$23 will get me 1 month of Premier, the character bundle & both material add-ons.
Related question: should I bother buying Daz Horse 3 for another $2? I am happy with both Daz Horse 2 & Lo-rez Horse 2 (which includes a full resolution model) & think they look much better than Horse 3. So I would only use it if I picked up add-on animals later.
The only thing I've use Daz 3 Horse is the base for AMs Reindeer and possibly for DAs Deer if I get that.

It should have been called the Matt Castle's Sale

It's not as useful as you might think. Nothing really new, and I have to rebuild half my toolbox.
That's not to say I didn't buy a heap of stuff though. So here's Van Helsing with a horse for a butt:
(Yes, while I have a lot of toolbox to rebuild, I've already got a draft version of a clone that will let me transfer over stuff I already had for the G8 centaur. I've had a Horse 2 to Horse 3 shape sitting around pretty much since the Horse 3 release that I could use as a starting point).

I've really been slacking on my centaur renders, because there was a time when a comment like that might have referred to me.
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself; one can still be true to the art of the horse butt without having to epitomise it.

The idea of “beauty” can be confining. Long, boring hours of preparation, uncomfortable clothes, strict fashions, tight hairstyles… And in the end, you don’t really feel like yourself. It’s all a mask, held up to please everyone else. Sometimes it’s good to step back and take a good look at yourself, and ask yourself if you really need all this? Wouldn’t it be so freeing to just… Be the natural you?
This phoenix has lived most of her life in a beautiful golden cage, inside a gorgeous, manicured garden. All around her are trained, perfect peacocks and carefully raised butterflies, not seen at all as living beings, but as pretty accessories. People crowd around her cage all day, marveling at her. But now, she has had enough of this false paradise. As the sun sets, the phoenix does what is most natural for her - she turns to flame, shining brighter and more beautiful than ever, until there is nothing left of her but ashes. Plain, ugly ashes. But from those ashes, she reforms and remakes herself, this time no longer in the confines of her cage. The phoenix escapes, leaving behind her adoring fans, choosing to follow her own path.

What I can't figure out is how both morphs were on the figure.I don't know why it caused problem with auto-follow in your case, but it's not something unheard: I have a couple of Genesis 9 characters that need to have both their own body morph and Genesis 9 Base Feminine morph dialed in to look as intended.
It's not different than characters for Victoria 8 or Olympia 7 that have existed before.
My fault: was Very disappointed in a Angel Secret 3Two things. Problem solved. First, clearing up confusion, there were two outfits in this discussion: the angel secrets 3 outfit from Val3dart and this one from Sprite: https://www.daz3d.com/spr-nightclub-suit-for-genesis-9
Neither were the cause of the issue. Somehow, the figure had two BODY morphs: Both "Base Feminine Body" was 100% as well as the character body "PFX Valeria Body" 100% were set on the figure. AfterI remove the Base Feminine Body morph (set to 0%), Auto Follow was working as it should.
What I can't figure out is how both morphs were on the figure. But that's a me issue, I suppose. Sorry for the false alarm. But the smoothing modifier on clothing was not anything I'd ever considered. I've been using it exclusively on beds and sofas. :)

My fault: was Very disappointed in a Angel Secret 3For a skin tight outfit like this one, the outfit should follow any body morph using Auto follow. Maybe it would struggle on the extreme morphs of certain non-human creatures, but any "normal" morph, no matter what the source, should work with the clothing via auto follow. There might be slight pokethrough, but this would be fixed with a smoothing modifier.
The issues you are describing are likely to be caused by some strange set up of the garment, or a non-standard way you are using it. The "Ridigity Group" suggested by Richard might be one idea, but this is not the type of garment I would expect for something like that.
Unity JCM Controller ScriptWow, that is great, @kaincypher84.
If you could post the scripts, that will be interested to test them.
The other problem for me is to transfer environments with instances from Daz Studio to Unity.
Daz to Unity bridge does not transfer instances for me.
I have also used AI to help with the scripts for Unity, but with mixed results, so far.
How to export an Obj with displaced mesh intact from Daz Studio?Squishy said:
Headwax said:
What I would like to do is export the obj from studio with the displacement embedded into the mesh.
the short answer is, D|S cannot do this. some other apps can do it, e.g. blender or zbrush or maya or rhino, but this is not treated as an import/export feature. I don't know anything about cararra but that kind of import/export dialogue has never referred to what you want to do with converting a displacement map to hard geometry that I have ever seen, skinning refers to weight mapping and rigging.
thank you Squishy for that. Much obliged! It only works in Carrara if you have 'show displacement in 3d view" ticked. Perhaps Carrara is referring to the displacement as a morph, which is silly as you have a choice of subdivision which would change the geometry of the mesh and nullify the morph. Thanks again. Cheers :)
How to make this cheek muscle prominent when smiling? You could learn some very basic sculpting skills in Blender, and make a morph. It would probably take you about 5 seconds with the Inflate brush to get it perfectly how you want it, maybe 10 if you are a OCD as me. If that seems daunting, stop by the Blender forum and ask for help.
V4 clothing is a nightmarerichardandtracy said:
Just recently I've been looking at some of the Outlet store V4 products - characters and clothing. The clothing is cheap and remarkably inventive. Not as well made as current clothing, but in many ways it's more fun. BUT, it does suffer from compatibility issues, and I absolutely hate going through the chaotic mess of the Poser library part of DS. Is a character a pose or a figure?. Is the hair a figure, prop or a hair? Is the material a material or a mat pose file? How many exclamation marks have been used to put it in a stupid out-of-order position? Etc, etc. Think I'm going to create a V4 equivalent of my TriAx V3 and make clones and all the other gubbins associated with a DS native character. That way I can use auto-fit on modern hair, and V3/4 clothes. Will make the character much more useful. Regards, Richard.
A lot of the Poser files make sense if you used Poser 1 to 4, no rigged hair back then so it was all HR2's for prop hair, PZ2's really were just pose files, a custom character came as a stripped out OBJ (vertex data only) and a hand full of textures. INJ/REM came later and was more of a hack of the poser file formats rather than an actual feature, and normally required external programs to make them. Assuming the figure had any empty channels to INJ/REM into, a figure like Posette didn't have any, so we used to use the eyebrow morph channel.
That's why most of us "old timers" are so hands on, we had to be as it was all DIY rather than ready to render.
Oh and good luck with converting V4, she uses magnet based JCM's, and "convert to weight map" breaks every single one of them.

needs a pallet of flat boxes, it has the tape guns and roller belt but all the boxes are already taped up
so unless they are just lifting boxes off of shelves, giving them a roll while waving their tape guns around then stacking them up
not a lot of packing going on there
ideally a flat box with a morph or rigging to fold it into an open box ready to fill
bubble wrap, packing peanuts etc too
As far as I can tell all the props are static (no morphs in file list). So the lifts do not lift sao they don't wearout or need maintenance.
I think this is a coffee break or after work scene.

reminds me too much of my former job to want to buy it

we had motorised tape machines though that were more trouble than they were worth as well as the guns, stacking pallets of boxes of 48 meat pies with cardboard support strips inbetween inner sheets all day gets achy fast,

Otherwise, you end up going down the rabbit hole Hivewire tried - the same character, with the same appearance, but two different meshes. I don't know if they managed to get the outfits put together such that the same outfit worked on both the Poser and Studio versions of the character.
Not two different meshes, two figures based on the same mesh: one rigged for Poser (with their version of weightmapping) in Poser format, and one rigged for DS (using TriAx rigging) in DS format.
And yes, morphs and add-ons also need to be provided in both formats if you want to use them to work with both figures. And obviously materials would need a version for each render engine if you want something usable directly in both programs.
Though I suppose with DSON importer plugin you could use the DS version in Poser up to a point, and in the case of clothes, if you load the Poser version in DS and ignore all warnings linked to poser weight maps, you can use autofit/transfer utility to rig them automatically so they sorta work in DS too (with the limitations of automatic rigging, and I'm not sure the morphs made for the poser version still work).Let's appreciate/discuss today's new releases - more ongoinger threadhttps://www.daz3d.com/fg-packing-warehouse

HH Scarlett for G9 [Commercial]Maybe the boat has sailed on this, but I think I found an issue with some of the leg JCMs on Scarlett. Some morphs are inadvertently influencing vertices on the jaw and lips (and eye socket), though some definitely are worse than others (like bodyHHScarlett_cbs_thigh_x115n_l). Individually, it's a small influence even at max strength, but there are multiple morphs doing this and triggering all of them adds up to noticeable distortion. Perhaps it's not worth the time to fix this so long after release, but hopefully this is useful for future characters you make.
To reproduce this, load a Genesis 9 base figure and dial in Scarlett full body morph. Bend the thigh bone all the way (either one) and look at how the jaw reacts. Both sides of the jaw deform slightly even if only one side JCM kicks in. Bending the shin and the foot causes a similar distortion.
Hopefully the GIF I made works here. In it, I'm bending the Lthigh -> Lshin -> Lfoot in that order, then undoing those bends.
Unity JCM Controller ScriptThank you, today I worked with the AI to make a script to handle JCM's
It auto populates all bone names, fills in the name of the joint, and it moves the blendshape JCM appropriately.
After about 2 to 3 hours I have a perfect copy you just drop it into the game, put the skinned renderer mesh (Genesis) into the field, and click Auto Populate JCMs, and any JCMs on the morph go into the fields, with the appropriate names. My mind was blown it actually has worked, this has been a problem I've had for years wanting to make a Unity game with Daz characters.
I don't know if people want it but if they do I can post it but maybe there are other solutions I don't know of? I spent weeks looking for one so writing one and seeing it work and all the JCM's fire off is making me really excited.
I am not sure how to make it better, it seems to do everything I needed. I'm trying all the JCMs I can find in Daz to export since it just is using the auto add ones so far. If people have an interest I'll post it
Edit: I also have a clothing script that can put your clothes on the bones of the daz character, so you can switch out dozens of outfits easily and I just learned you can add ExecuteInEditMode and it will just let me have my daz char clothed in scene view as I move her around...this is tons of progress.
Additionally, one that lets blendshapes follow across multiple meshes... 3 problems solved using Daz characters in Unity.
Just noticed my clothes had lots of pop in, so I put on the 'JCM manager" script I made, and all the JCM on my person are on the clothes, but they did not move, I have the script used for eyelashes to move with the rest of the face, so I put it on the shirt, the pop in is gone and the shirt moves with the JCMs. DAZ characters are looking great now!Buy Something That Doesn't Work in Carrara? Post your Questions and Workarounds here. (please)Another tip for Premier members and/or folks who have Mesh Grabber:
In Daz Studio we can use Mesh Grabber or Studio Premier's Geometry Scultor (Mesh Grabber on Steroids) to reshape directly while the figure is wearing the item (or not) and then save the results as a morph directly from Mesh Grabber or Geometry Sculptor. Then save that as a new garment to retain those new morphs.
I did this all the time in Carrara, however, without Mesh Grabber. I just couldn't reuse the results in anything other than Carrara - which was fine for me. I'd just save the new garment as a CAR file in my browser.
We can make morphs in Carrara - but I often just left it as the new shape.
