Will I still have "My DAZ3D Formats" and "Poser Format" Folders like "My DAZ3D Libaray" / "Studio3"?

Will I still have "My DAZ3D Formats" and "Poser Format" Folders like "My DAZ3D Libaray" / "Studio3" after installing DAZ Studio 4.9?

Right now under Daz Studio 4.8 I have:

"DAZ3D Formats" : My Library, Studio3, My DAZ 3D Library

"Poser Formats" : My Library, Studio3, My DAZ 3D Library

will I still have these after installing DAZ Studio 4.9?

    Yes, 4.9 is not changing anything about that. Even if you install through DAZ Connect, your existing folder structure will remain untouched. Of course, there's always a chance that the content manager will lose the information which folders you are using, but that should be easily fixed if it happens.

    As an example, here's what DC does: I told my Laptop that my DC folder is ..Documents/DAZ3D/Studio/My Library, but the folder can be located anywhere else.

    In thos folder, DC created a subdirectory data/cloud, where it now stores all the content you download through DAZ Connect. The structure is rather simple:

    You have a subfolder, that has the number of the produkt, and which contains the "normal" folder and file structure you also would find in a manual and DIM download. You can even copy the files out of there and reorganize them in your "usual" structure, if you wish, but then you would break the update/delete from within DS, similar to what happens if you start moving around files that were installed through DIM.

    Here you can see part of the folder structure for Cory 6, which I downloaded through DC. As you can see, the files are not encrypted. So, while DC does things differently, it in itself is not that much of an obstacle to "make your own content structure" as I had thought it would be. Always saying this "as long as content is unencrypted". What I don't like is that you loose the "mark as new" thing when installing through DIM, as the DC download makes all the "new" marking just in Smart Content.

    With encrypted content, the game changes, as they need to remain in the DC folder structure to become unencrypted. If you can change the subfolder structure, I haven't tried yet.

    that is a good news, because I have backed up all my installed content so If something happend with my machine or I need to reinstall DS4.8 or something else happens I just need to copy and paste these folders from my external HD to my machine and everything should work again, right?

    this way is much easier than installing everthing new.

    Yes, that's the nifty part about DC, that it does its thing in its own folder, without touching the "old" ones. You can even install the product twice, once with DC, and once with DIM/Manual. Though that would probably be "overkill". ;-)

    4.9 Content Directory Manager works just like the one before, so you can connect all sorts of content directories to it. It also has a separate option for where you want to install DAZ Connect downloaded content. This defaults to your first "DAZ Formats" directory, and if you leave it there, it will create the "cloud" directory in the "data" subfolder of the first DAZ Formats directory.

    I strongly recommend that, if you want to use a directory different than the default one for DC installation, you check this out before installing DC conntent. :-)

    Well, I will use the dim as long as I can, I don`t need anything like connect and also no smart content or something like this, I know where what is and if not, well, there are easy ways to find anything. I use DAZ studio since 2010 and get used to it without these smart content or connect things.

    And I guess connect will not work for items bought at renderosity for example, so I also install things manually

    this is totally superfluous, who need such (sorry) shit? Why not leaving things as they are instead of making everyhing much more complicated for us costumers and users???????

    And people like me? My english is good enough to write some words here in the forum but not good enough for complicated explanations and statements which are already normally not so easy to understand.

    And if they just have "connect" stuff at the store I will not buy anything. I have spend thousands over the years I guess but if they go that way I will not buy any more stuff here.
