Why not two versions of 4.9?

This is just my observation but I think that all the debate seems to center on connect. Im sure that all you guys work very hard at improving the software and are anxious to share those results with the rest of us. We would certainly enjoy any improvements to 3delight and iray or DAZ in general. Alot of us have simply declined to try 4.9 because of connect.

Would it be possible to roll out a second version of 4.9 that has no trace of connect in it what so ever? I know that you dont have to use connect at all, ever, if you so choose, but the fact that it is there in the first place is alienating alot of people.

I think this would go a long way in supporting the entire community.

It might be a silly and idealistic suggestion, but, what could it hurt?

    No, not like 4.8. Their are changes to the SSS shader system that we will all have to update skin products for. Assuming that all future products released with SSS will be using the changed system, which will make 4.8 more of a hassle to stay with.

    Then upgrade to 4.9 and don't use DAZ Connect. Read the faq, you don't have to use DAZ Connect to use 4.9. If one day everything from DAZ becomes encrypted, you will be in the same boat with 4.8 as you would with 4.9 without DAZ having to maintain two code branches between two operating systems and 32- and 64-bit.

    Yeah, you don't have to use daz connect if you download studio 4.9 but because it has DRM built in, there are going to be problems. I just don't like being a beta tester for the new DRM. I'm not upgrading to Win10 until the bugs are beta tested by the public. I will wait on first major upgrade to studio and after they iron out the bugs, then I may upgrade to new 4.9 series. I will not purchase items in the store that are DRM at all, but new studio looks interesting. I hope they sort it all out. I'm an impulse buyer this is going to save me money. So it's not all bad.

    If you don't purchase content which is "Encrypted Daz Connect" then you won't get ny encrypted content.  DS4.9 doesn't encrypt content, it only decrypts content that comes encrypted.  You can even tick the "Don't show me this again" box and you won't even see the login page.

    The problem of ds 4.9 is not only about DIM or encrypted files.  I do not against about it,  (simply because, user can choose to use DAZ connect or not about daz connect only product too )  .  But the worst point is New ds 4.9 have  destroyed my catgory in content library and smart contents about User made assets, preset, files.  Category is key to serch items in daz studio. then DAZ have not recommended user to make original product meta-data about these User made assets , for long time.     Many user categorized each files as they like about User made assets or presets too.

    I had believed, daz may check these in beta, then offer DS 4.9 product version with keeping user hand made categories about User made files.  But it not wrok at all.    Then there  is NO clear guide or FAQ about User made files catgorize way  .  But Only say, no encrypt about user made files etc) .  It simply tell  me, after all DAZ not care userbility about User hand made things. DAZ only up-grade smart contents about Products which offered by DAZ shop .    Or I feel, ds 4.9 product version is still just a beta as real. then DAZ use customer, as tester to push DAZ connect  , with daz studio  product version .
