No Suit - No documenation? (G3F)

I picked up the No Suit for G3F recently, and have just now come to look at using it - and I have No Clue whatsoever how to do it.  Which is a shame because it looks very useful.

The 'documentation' at http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/22758/start does not help as it is no more than a sales pitch.  Is there more elsewhere?

All I can find is some morph sliders in the Parameters tab that don't appear to do anything on their own, and icons in the Content Library to load a completely new G3F figure with a pretty multi-colored pastel skin and for a preset to load all the previously mentioned morphs.

Here's a plea to all PA's: please remember we haven't been looking over your shoulder while you labored long and hard to make your wonderful product, so we have no idea what's in your head as to how it is to be used.  And nobody likes to be made to feel stupid!  For myself, if it takes more than half an hour to work out how to use a product, I am going to conclude it's more bother than it's worth and return it, because I often buy products like this to save me time and effort, not the opposite.

No suit will load a figure, which was the best method of getting it to work; well the only method I got. It isn't obvious, and there is no documentation, and I ended up keeping, I didn't, however, buy the male version - which better docs might have encouraged.

I considered returning, but decided not to, so yeh, I'm tending it agree with your post.

Just because I'm a guy, doesn't mean I ignore instructions - avoid em, sure. cheeky - but not ignore.

The morphs are HD so they won't have any visible effect until you render or set the figure's sub-d level to 3.

The only problem is that people tend to think it is more complicated than it is.

All it is is a series of morphs to make it look like the base figure has clothes on. You can dial in whichever you need.

Then if people want to use my custom material presets on it, then they simply load my saved figure preset, instead of the default one...and apply the materials, along with the morphs.

This is almost definitely it, especially if the renderer is set to Iray — I bought a couple of Genesis2 HD characters recently, and the extra muscle definition just doesn't show up at all until I nudge up the Sub-D level.

Yeh I was actually looking at something a few minutes ago, and saw the morphs, so was messing with them.

Thanks for responding.  Bear with me, here's what I'm doing in my lumbering stupidity, but to no avail.  With the appropriate G3F figure selected:

    1.  Dial the No Suit 3 Gloves LD morph to 100%.

    2.  Double click the icon for the No Suit 3 Gloves Mat.

    3.  Spot Render a hand.

Please see the attached images.  Am I missing something?  I must be, surely.

Yes but it's an easy miss ... I did it too! One has to load the character figure that is all mapped out; those suit mats work with that figure.

With the regular figure, only the morphs work. This is great for some other clothing and/or character sets for mixing 'n matching. For eg. one can apply "skin clothing" [from another source] for gloves and then morph the hand for gloves.

edit to add: Did a little checking, the other minor detail that might throw one is that the individual mat files do not load "black", they load the colour of the main outfit as shown in the "load all" for the uniform picture.

Easy to find each area on the Surface Tab and simply select whichever colour you want and then save out your new mat files.

If perchance you also get the no suit for G3M, when loading the character file with mats, dial the "sock" morph out abit if you want more normal looking socks. As is, while a little strange looking for some, it happens to be close enough IMHO for a popular drop in "alien" in a certain scifi show, so not complaining! Love it. For the normal sock effect, one can dial the sock morph into the regular figure and that works as most expect it to. Morphing toes is not an easy task and we appreciate the effects of Rawart in making all these delightful morphs available.

If you want to use the material files, then you will have to load the figure with the new material zones, which I included in the folder.

but yeah....the feet are no where near perfect. There was no way to make them totally dissappear into socks, the feet are just not designed for that. But I tried to give the best that could be done with that, and worst case scenerio is there are more than enough sock sets out there ;)

ST movie "if the shoe fits" .... :-) Love those feet, don't worry 'bout it.

Thanks for your input.  I am still rather baffled and not able to get anything out of this product.  If it's necessary to load the pastel coloured figure, that gives a stock G3F shape, which isn't what I want.  I could mess about trying to load a character shape and skin onto that, but I am guessing that loading a different skin will obliterate the material zones for the No Suit.

I think I admit defeat and will return the product. I've no doubt I could eventually work it out, but I'm just not prepared to spend hours fighting with it.  It's like going to a restaurant and being given the raw ingredients for a meal, a spot in the kitchen and told to get on with it.  As I said above, I buy products to save myself time so I can concentrate on other things.  This is failing on that criteria.

Thanks, however I understood the product provided clothing that could be used on G3F based characters, and did not expect to have to load a separate figure to use the clothing on.

I tried to make it very clear in the product descriptions of this series of products
"Create a body suit directly onto your Genesis 3 Male figures with no worry of poke through regardless of body shape. The No Suit is a series of morphs (Low and High definition) made for Genesis 3 Male that will instantly make him appear to be wearing tight fitting spandex. "

There is no clothing in this set...it is simply morphs and material settings for the base figure.

If you load RawArts "No Suit MAT-Zone Figure" and select it then you can load any G3F skin texture from smart content "Materials" then apply the corresponding full body morph from the parameters tab (or a different morph/combination of morphs).  You then have access to all the new material zones in the surfaces tab.

For me it was worth the money just for them (new material zones).

My favourite new product this year.
