What in the Heck is going on with Genesis 3 Male Hair (Trend)?

I noticed that all of the Hair Styles for Genesis 3 Male(s) have been or are long or messy hair. I might be showing my age but if I want my characters to have long hair I’ll used Genesis 3 Female(s)!

I just believe that Daz is forgetting that some users prefer neat professional looking males, I just looked at all 4 Hair Styles for Genesis 3 Male Hair are very Hippie-ish in my opinion.

Well, there are actually more than four hair styles for Genesis 3 Male -- there's a whole whopping seven! (Fraser and Matthew from the Michael 7 Pro Bundle; Leandros and Jonas from the Leo 7 Pro Bundle; Edit Hair and the new Colin Hair; Buzzed Hair, which I believe is the only PA product hair for G3M -- as well as for the other Genesis figures and generations -- here so far. However, only Buzzed Hair is a short style.)

That said, Fraser and Matthew are relatively current style looks -- depending on how conservative the workplace, Matthew hair might be pushing it a bit, but Fraser is perfectly reasonable. And Jonas is pretty much what most guys with very curly hair would look like if it had any length at all. Beyond that, most Genesis and Genesis 2 hairs autofit and parent reasonably well.

Beyond THAT ... as a product released to consumers, Genesis 3 Male is not quite a whole two months old. The market does need some time to develop and respond, after all.

Some of the shorter hair styles and scalp hair can also be autofitted from earlier version including M4. Hellboy's G3M hair works well for shorter styles and looks good with iray.

Short, neat and clean hairstyles for men are few and far between for all the male figures. Especially if you want a very realistic look and something that renders well in Iray. It's make due or do without.

I think it might be okay to ask here instead opening a new thread: How hard or easy is it to fit G3M hairs to G2M characters ? Maybe using G3M to G2M clone from http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-male-for-genesis-2-male-s ? And how good do the results look, short and long hair ?

I decided to skip G3M for some reasons, but I'm a fan of goldtassel's and April's hair and would like to add their G3M hair to my library if I could use it with G2M nicely, eventually adding the clone product for that reason as well.

Can't try for myself currently, as after some discussion with DELL yesterday, UPS is going to fetch my XPS PC tomorrow for repair which might need few weeks. If someone has links to images that have G3M hair on G2m these would be nice too.

You can just parent the hair to the head, I do this with many older hair models, no clone needed.

Older hairs are no problem, short styles at least, but what about the newer G3M ones ? Is it as easy or are there problems to expect ? I would have tried with G3F/G2F hair, but as said I don't have PC just now :/

Btw.. W10 / 1511 upgrade killed the PC hardware, no joke .. but that's another thing..

Well all hair models are pretty similar. I'd imagine they only things you'd have problems with are certain movements, but I think that is only for longer hair.

I guess it depends on your age. I'm 57, and I rarely buy short hairstyles for either gender. Most of the young guys I see in real life these days have short hair, and it looks wrong to me.

I don't mind hair which  is longer. I find the back of the men's heads can look kind of scrawny without hair to camouflage it. That said I would like some really short lie kind of buzz hairstyles. The new men are mostly bald and sometimes you want some short hair to fit under a helmet.

What about Hellboy's Buzzed Hair then ?

    +1

In the outside world, there are some heads that should be embarassed with the fashionable hair inflicted upon it.  Unfortunately, it's the same in Daz.

It is okay. Doesn't look right to me around the ears and looks a bit sparse in some areas. For some reason I'm not really a huge fan of fiber mesh hairs in general.

depends on where you are living I think, I do not see any men with buns out there where I live.

I see them everywhere in my hometown these days. I guess it's kind of OK as long as the men still have their hair. I detest it when they're beginning to bald and still try to grow it long.
