I am using DS 4.7 with 3Dl and I loaded the Santa Delux outfit on M6. Except for the belt and boots it is all grey. Did t mess up and it is for IRAY only (although it doesn't say so)or an I just missing 3DL materials somewhere? Also what about the Santa Delux Beard and hair?
I also tried loading it on M7 but it didn't seem to autofollow well.
Right now I am so frustrated with trying to use it that I would return it; but punch discounts were involved so that doesn't seem possible. So, if it is Iray only I guess I'll just have to keep it until next Christmas and maybe by then I'll be using IRAY
Thanks for any help.

I don't have this product, but I do have products that load without the materials applied and they show up as gray. Try selecting something, like the coat, and then in the Surfaces tab, click on Presets>Defaults>Materials. Do you see the materials there?
No, I'm not seeing anything specific to the coat (or other parts of the suit) It just shows me a bunch of various shaders that I own. I can go through and apply some of them to make a coat but it isn't Santa like
Are other items in the scene loading with colored materials?
Are you loading the suit via Smart Content? If so, try looking in the Content Library. Probably the easiest thing to do is go to is go to Products and then S and scroll down looking for Santa Delux. Do you see any textures there?
Mike: The belt and boots load with materials; the rest of theSanta Delux outfit (coat pants, undersuit, gloves, etc) all load gray. Other props not part of the Santa Delux outfit or the Santa Delux Hair all load properly with their colored materials.
L'Adair: I am loading through the content library, There are icons for the clothing itself but no other icons for materials.
Edit to add: I also tried looking in smart content but couldn't find any materials specific to the suit
If you shut down DS, make sure it's had time to finish cleanup (Task Manager in Windows), and restart it, does it still happen?
Yes. I had already tried twice in DS 4.7 before I posted here.
Here is a screen shot of the initial load of just the suit.
I know I had to colour it for Octane, I used Octane database shaders
Again, I don't know about this product because I didn't purchase it. However, I have seen products where the materials did not show up in the mapped folder, but did show up under the product. Right click on any one of those icons and select Show in>Products. Does that show any materials?
There are no separate materials files listed here...

If you select the coat and look in the Surfaces tab...what shader does it say is being used?
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it; BUT no it didn't work either.
I PMed Neftis3D. Hopefully we'll find out shortly if the product is Iray only, or if there are 3DL materials/shaders as well.
You are using DS 4.7 - if the suit uses the Iray uber Shader then the materials won't load correctly (nor will they if it uses the AoA SSS Shader and you don't have that installed).
So, basically, I guess that means I can't use it unless I have IRAY.. (I do have the AOA SSS shader installed). I wish product descreptions specified when IRAY is required. If I had known IRAY was required I never would have bought it.. I'd return it; but I can't because of the punch discounts. So I'm just out the money. Grrr!!!
It doesn't say Iray-only, which is why I mentioned the possibility of its being some other shader. If it's working for others and not for you, in an older version of DS, it does suggest there may be some kind of versioning issue but I can't say with certainty.
What shader is assigned to the suit?
I don't know; it doesn't seem to say. Is there a way I can find out in DS4.7?
Select part of the suit. then in the Surfaces tab, it should list the shader at the top...above the list of surfaces.
Maybe DAZ Studio Default (see screen shots); But I think that is because I am in DS4.7 and that's all it can have.
What happens if you turn Specular Strength down to 0?
It stays grey. I am, however, making progress. I found that under surfaces>presets I could selelect default>shaders>Iray>fabric_red_velvet Then go to surfaces.editor and select a suiable color for specular. From there it looks like I will now have something I can tweak and use.(See attached screen shots) Why I need to select an Iray shader and then why it works in 3DL I may never know.
