g2f and g3f

will g3f be around for the long haul do you think? or do you think that g4 will come out this year ect? what do you guys feel will happen to g1-2 and older gen worth of stuff?Also what do you think the proper amount of ram would be needed to run daz at the best so it doesnt hang up due to memory shortage

    A while back, (V4) the base mesh was around forever...and folks complained a lot about no updates/new figures.  Around the time DS4 came out, it was mentioned that things would be more or less on a 2 yr update schedule...that's about what it has been for the Genesis-Genesis 2-Genesis 3 releases.  So, I'd say that not in 2016, but maybe 2017 is when you need to start thinking about Genesis 4.

    8 to 16 GB is 'minimum'.

    I doubt we will see Genesis 4 this year, based solely on past intervals. The old figures and their content don't generally go away for a long time so you needn't worry that they will be removed.

    As fro RAM, that depends on what you put in your scenes and which render engine you use.

    I'd say that since tech is going forward faster and faster, we might see Genesis 4 in 2016.

    Man I surely hope not!!!!! I have all figures and while I can see a difference between G2F and G3F, the difference between G2F and genesis 1 was small IMO. Honestly, can't see much of what can be improved on with G3F at this point in time and would like to think that releasing a new figure has more to do with the tech and improvements and less about a money grab.

     

    As for tech going forward faster and faster, some does, some doesn't. Been waiting for a huge increase in CPU speed for the longest and so far nothing but small increases. was hoping the new Skylake would be the answer, doesn't look like it.

    Like FSMCDesigns I can't see a reason to need a new set of figures anytime soon.  There where reasons for  the Genesis 2's and Genesis 3's even if a lot of people didn't understand them.

    im running 16 gig and its now just starting to lock up due to low memory of ddr3 1866 ram ugh i ordered a new stick of 8 and later this month hopefully buy a  980 card

    Heck with that!!!!  Where is Genesis X (Female Male and Other) to go with Windows 10, the last operating system you will ever need?!?!   wink

    While we are on the point it would be nice if Nvidia would finally launch the GeForce X³ 512PB tetralia-core nano-PCI-XXX card for my ASUS ROG Micro-Nano board with Intel 9.0Ghz nonalia-core processor package to put in my GeniusSwatch.

    I am not sure memory is your problem in this situation.  I am running 4790K 32GB with Nvidia 970 and have put many characters and props, as well as landscape in a scene and memory never topped 24GB total. Mostly it stayed under 16GB, so I am not sure low memory in a 16GB system is the problem?
