Genesis 3 "Glowing" in viewport

Is it possible to turn down the skin/texture settings so that Genesis 3 isn't "glowing" ambiently? I am used to the older models like V4/M4 and if you turned down glossiness/specular/ambient on those it made them stop seeming so "bright" but it doesn't seem to work that way with Genesis. Sorry for not using any more accurate terms but hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about.

With Genesis 2 and 3, you need to turn down the Subsurface Strength and turn up the Diffuse.

Oh thank you. That was it!

No problem! Trust me, I'm no fan of my characters glowing while I'm working on them, myself. I need to see the shaded detailing that's actually going to show-up in the render, so I save all the fancy lighting and texture effects for last.

This is also why I wish more products had the 75/50/25% SSS Presets. Hell, they should all have a Preset to 0% the effect flat-out for people who like to do things the classic way like me, and seeing this thread only reassures me that I'm not alone in this preference... ;)

I hate this "glowing" and I hate SSS so I do not use SSS anymore. I turned it off and set the SS strenghth to zero and fix the diffuse color and sometimes the skin texture itself. I want that the character I am working with looks nearly the same while working with it and after rendering.

The OpenGL viewport display cannot support many of the surface properties of the various shaders.  By sticking to a what you see is how it renders approach you are limiting the quality of your art.  Plus you might as well just render using the OpenGL option.
