Importing files from Blender
in The Commons
I'm new and have search some but can't find an answer, so here's a question...
How do I import files made in Blender into the DazStudio?

Comments
Open the file in Blender and export it in a format that can be imported into DAZ Studio. I think exporting it in obj format usually works best.
Yes that works, it's what I do.
Blender is free and if you don't have it you can get it here here: https://www.blender.org/
Also be aware that if the model has rigging (it's like a skeleton inside the model, it tells the program how parts move in relation to each other and the main body of the model) intended for use in Blender, it will need to be converted to a DAZ Studio rig... This is more complicated than just a few sentences of suggestions can cover, but there are tutorials that cover this topic. Rigging is usually associated with models like figures or vehicles... If you are looking to import a simple prop like say a chair or a crate, that does not have moving parts, that's not an issue.... You would just export it from Blender in OBJ (.obj) format and then import it into DAZ... The item will probably need some tweaking of the surface materials (textures). If you are very new to DAZ Studio and 3D in general, you can find a lot of content to experiment with at ShareCG as opposed to having to mess with converting Blender models.
Good luck.
Ah, ok, thanks. I'll try the .obj format... And no, I'm just making objects that don't move... Thanks for all the imput.
