Chest hair for G3 Males?

I love chest hair on my models.  I have products to put chest hair on M4, Genesis and G2 males.  Unfortunately, everything I've tried to get these products to work on G3M figures have failed miserably.  I'm not good at LAMH, yet, and the one attempt I've made so far ended up looking like a chest full of seaweed.  I won't even mention what happened down below south of the border.

Anyone, know of an easy way to convert older product, yet, or a of a product for G3M I may have missed to get the fellows to look like they haven't been waxy their chests?  So far, there hasn't been a lot in the way of chest hair on skins, either.  M7 has a little bit and so does FWSA Aiden, but nowhere near the amount I would like.

My next stop is to take a skin into Gimp and give that a whirl, but I don't know how I'll do with that yet as I haven't yet tried modifying a skin before.  I really like this one character that I've created for G3M, but he really needs chest hair.  Otherwise, I may have to stick with my older fellows for awhile longer until some really good, hairy skins come out or until there is a way to transfer my older favorite skins to G3M

Any vendors have anything hairy in the works? Maybe a way of converting older character skins to the new model?  Anything already out there for G3m that I might have missed?

You might PM Mec4D and see if there is anyplace she has her Unshaven Body Hair for Genesis available.  I've been able to fit that to G3M quite well, but it's not longer at this store nor could I find it on her site.

    Bah, attachment didn't work

Edited to add:  I found it!  http://www.daz3d.com/unshaven-body-hair-for-genesis Odd I didn't see it before.

  • Thanks, I'll give that a try.  I have it, but somehow I missed trying this when trying to get the other products to work.

You could also try http://www.daz3d.com/real-hairy - it's hair from the neck down that you can mix and match.  I've had no problems using it on G3M.

  • I haven't gotten that one, but it is on my wishlist.  I did try the Unshaven Body Hair for Genesis as I had that one.  Somehow I just missed it when I was searching in the Smart Content.  It isn't perfect as the arm and leg hair didn't work that great, but the chest hair worked once I figure out the pubic hair could be made invisible.  It kept wanting to poke out through the clothes.  I'd love for a G3M native product to come out, but the Unshaven works for now.  I'll try the Real Hairy when I can get it on sale.  Right now, my model has chest hair and is rendering.  He is looking pretty good so far.  I'll let him go overnight and see how he did.

Any chest hair is likely to poke through close fitting clothing unless you can decrease its length, even an official G3M version would do this.

Maybe somewhat, what a brilliant vendor like Sickleyield could fix someday frown

I personally cannot praise this product enough. It's easy to use, all the parts have morphs to increase/decrease thickness, length and you can even make it look wet. It's easy to change the diffuse color to match a figure's head hair or eyebrows. It renders beautifully and even works great in Iray. And it can be used on female figures as well. It's well worth a purchase.

    /my 2 cents

Seconded. I use it in nearly any nudes/shirtless renders.
  • Real Hairy is definitely in my wishlist.  I was able to use the Unshaven Body Hair for Genesis.  He finished his overnight render and I just uploaded him to the It's Raining Men Contest.  He won't win, but I think he turned out great.  It is the first thing I've done with the G3M that I've really liked how it turned out.  I had to do some serious tweaking, though.

Yes, I figured it would poke through which is why my model was going to be shirtless.  I'm just glad there was a way to hide the parts I didn't need, just had to go through the scene tree and hide everything but the part I wanted.  I did have to fiddle with the surface settings because I was rendering in Iray and had sparkles in the hair geometry, but I managed to fix that by tweaking the translucency setting.

    Thanks for the help, guys!!!

  • Real Hairy ended up being in the flash sale and with all the discounts, I managed to get both.  Downloading now and will give them a try.

Oops, I was too late... I was going to mention the free Heavenskies chest hair too: http://heavenskies.deviantart.com/art/HS-Body-Hair-For-Genesis-2-Male-FREEBIE-557547276

One thing I would suggest is to reduce the hair opacity in your render.  To me, it gives a more realistic look.    As for the pokethrough, I use to do two renders - one with and one without hair then combine/fiddle with them in photoshop. Now that I'm old and lazy, I just don't bother putting clothes on them.  So much easier :)

With clothing, adding collision might work, so it stays under clothing but appears in gaps.
  • You can also use the geometry editor tool and select the hairs which are sticking out, then turn them invisible.

I was going to suggest this, as I do that for eyelashes, and the Rune eyebrow for G3F.

I haven't played with the geometry editor much, but I'll try that next time I have a hair problem.

I did play with the opacity.  I hadn't used that for hair.  It did make a difference in my test render.  Still playing with that.

As for collision, Will, sometimes I can find that and other times, it seems like I'm hunting for it and trying to figure out how to get the things I want to collide to actually collide.
