Elianeck Lights Package for Iray question

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, or if the product is missing something, so can other purchasers confirm on this please. 

Eliankeck Lights package for Iray

The description says "It contains 5 lights for Iray plus a Bonus light!" but it seems to be ONLY HDR maps. The "bonus light" is a physical let set....but I"m a bit confused on the "5 lights"/5 light presets. They don't apply any physical lights, just a hdr in the Environment map section and I'm not seeing any other changes in the render settings for the environment hdr map.

    ok, so it's just 5 hdri maps, right?

    You got it.

    5 maps and the bonus light set up.

    I thought maybe the lights went with the HDR.  But the way the HDR looks, they are designed to cast a strong enough shadow alone it seems.

    I detected no changes to the render settings as well.

    I'm still a newb with Iray so is this a case of me misunderstanding this product? When Iray products state "5 lights for Iray" do I have to realize that it actually means "5 Hdri maps with no render settings to match them" instead of actual light sets? 

    Forgive me if I sound terse or upset, I've had an upsetting day, and this product has ramped up my frustration levels cos I can't work out if it was my own stupidity or the fact the description was not clear enough.

    I think the lights apply in your environment setting. The nice thing about HDRI lights to me is you don't have to fiddle with them beyond rotating them in the render settings, or maybe raising or lowering the intensity. That and the defaults are really all you need. Or am I misinterpreting what you mean? That is, you go to the little environment spot on the render setting, you tap on it, then you browse to the map location. 

    Sickleyield has some fabulous tutorials on this at YouTube.com. I tried to get you the link, but my iPad isn't cooperating. If you search on SickleYield, she explains lighting and demonstrates how to set everything in 15 minutes or so.

    Unless the Youtube vid has been recently updated, there is some information and recommendations that stem from early misunderstanding (by everyone) of how the Iray endigne and parameters worked. No dis for Sickeyield, everyone was in the same boat. There is a lot of info out now that provides more up to date info. I would suggest searching for Tobor's various posts on Iray.
