Just one set of textures, no mention of iray, so I guess 3Delight only... :(

Have you seen the SKU on this product, it is very low, only 21500. The product with the next SKU, ie 21501 was released on March 30th. This means DAZ acquired this from the PA before the end of March.  At this time iRay was very new (probably still in beta in fact), so it is hardly surprising that it has no iRay shaders. I suspect it is the same reason that this item is missing it's 30% off for being new. However in my experience these kind of items are very easy to switch to iRay shaders. Slap architectural shaders on the stone work and a water shader on the pool surface and it would look pretty good in iRay.

  • Thank you scatha and Havos for the answers!

I never figured out what/where SKUs are...?

every product in the store has a SKU number, you can see it on the product page. Once you have the SKU number head to Help > Documentation Centre (Wiki) > Readme http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/start where you can find all the numbers

List of SKU numbers per product are here:

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/start

Some of the latests releases have SKUs of 23600 or above, so 21500 is fairly old by comparison.

I also have just spotted that all the Olympia 7 promo shots are in the Thermae, and these are all rendered in iRay. So if you want to see what the product looks like in iRay go here:

The cheat sheets (Read Me) - takes the guesswork out of finding where the artists have hidden their loading icons :-D

If you have already downloaded the product with DIM then you can go strait to the Read Me for it by clicking the ⓘ under "Installed". EDIT: From the Install Manager.

Also, one can now access DAZ product documentation within DAZ Studio 4.9 BETA.  Select a product icon on the Smart Content Products tab OR a product within the Content Library>Products listings, right click and select More Information.

Szark, it's the only reason I still frequent the forums, despite the god awful design of it...

Just a quick IRay test of the Thermae, with an old V4 character/dress/hair, to get a clue about how it looks. No IRay shaders for anything, 1 hour CPU rendering. Removed the roof but that was too dark so I turned headlamp on.

FWIW, my experience w/ DM products is that they work well in Iray with just the Daz Iray Uber Shader applied. More material specific shaders work even better, but of course increased set up time.

  • Thank you for that Testrender Taozen and the Information fastbike1!
And I agree the community is indeed a big reason to be here!

I picked this up last night, and below are my test renders in iRay. The first one is using the shaders supplied with the product, and in the second image I put a water shader on the water plane (remember to press control when applying and choose to retain the images, otherwise the maps are lost meaning the water surface will loose the ripples). I also put a clear glass shader on the window glass, and iRay Uber base on the walls and columns. It took 2-3 mins to make the shader adjustments.

The render settings are the same for both images. I used no lights other than the base HDR that comes with DAZ Studio, so all the light comes through the windows. The first thing I did was delete all the lights that loaded with the scene. I did not have the same issues as Taozen, and did not need to remove the roof to get in more light, nor did I use the headlamp. I did change the ISO on the tone mapping to 600, but I normally change this for indoor scenes (as indeed I would using a real camera indoors without flash).

Note I only used the standard shader's that come with DS and the standard HDR. Apart from Thermae itself, and Olympia 6, her hair and clothes, everything else needed is in DS 4.8+.

Both images were rendered to 5000 iterations, which took around 23 mins each on my GTX 970.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that you need to hide the Skydome that comes with the scene.
