I will add my voice to the chorus: this is a truly unique, wonderful model. I will put down cold, hard cash any day for characters that look like real people with asymetrical, non-clone, non-standard (DAZ), etc. features. To tell the truth, I am actually not into strawberry blonds or redheads, but this character is so charming, she was an instant buy. Her belly button and one or two other spots are a little too (unnaturally colored) red, but this can easily be fixed in PS and, therefore, doesn't change my recommendation: if you don't own Cailin, buy her!

    Cailin is another beautiful figure.

When looking for HD figures I always go to Raiya's page first.

My last HD male figure purchases have been by Raiya, and I purchase very little male stuff.

  • I have this bundle wishlisted, sadly unable to purchase it right now - I blew my budgwt on Lyoness' store and the sweet home bundle deal.  I can proudly say I have all but 5 of Lyoness' characters.  But it was extremely close, and I definately plan on picking up the Cailin Bundle soon!

I made the mistake with the G2 generation of buying way too many character models on impulse that I was never going to get around to using (especially not once G3 launched) and ended up just focusing mainly on my favourites, Karynna and Ysabeau. It was still early days for me back then and I hadn't learned to rationalise my purchases. With G3 I'm going to try to buy only those models that I find absolutely irresistible and that I'm certain I will use extensively - like Cailin.

@Toyen  "Love the pale freckled skin and the decent make-up options!"

That is just a lovely, simple render.

I really like her skin. The shape is too thin for my tastes but the skin is great.

While her looks are not to my tastes at all, it's nice to see the support for the product and the vendor.

Toyen, your renders make her look much better than the promos IMO

For some reason, I keep thinking Toyen's last render needs the guy to be wearing a red and gold suit of armor...

I see some resemblance, more so on some images than others.

The fact that she has orange eyebrows kind of limits her to redheads only. Not sure about the other Anatomical Element areas? (I really don't care but that joke is not getting old anytime soon, thanks Daz~)

I agree she looks a lot like Dublin, who I also have, and who is adorable.  I have a lot of Raiya's characters and they're nicely done. I do prefer thicker eyebrows than what this one has, but it's only personal preference.

Mostly it just bugs me we're still dependant on eyebrows painted onto the skin, which limits a lot of customisation for characters.

Also my memory might be a bit faulty but didn't Raiya make most of the main Daz characters? Or at least was involved with them in some way (it's all so mysterious.) That's a pretty impressive resume of characters before even going into additional ones.

The phrase 'mysterious' made me laugh out loud. ;) I did a couple of skin textures for the Daz figures (f.e. Monique, Michael 6). For Bethany 7 I created both the shape and the texture - that was very cool. But I can't take credit for any other Genesis 3 based figure. Which is okay, cause it gives me more time to work on my own stuff.

Thanks for all your feedback, guys.

Well normally the original characters are just listed as Daz (I think it was in the 4.9 beta that I was getting the actual artist names popping up) so it is mysterious to me. I like seeing who worked on what so that if I see an original I really like, I can go looking for more of that artist's products.

If you search your name in Studio a whole bunch of characters pop up for me (that don't actually list your name in 4.8) including M5 and a load of other Genesis characters that I have. See - mysterious mysteries!

Regardless, I'm very impressed, especially for Bethany; she really stands out as something completely different in our Victoria-filled world.

I absoluty see what you mean by 'mysterious' - I just thought it was a fun way to put it. Like it was a Daz related mystery novel or thriller.

Funnily in my Studio version nothing pops up when I search my name. Nothing. Nada. How disappointing.

Some of the people who are behind the Daz originals don't work as 'regular' PAs, so this is one of the reasons why it's just listed as 'Daz Originals'.

  • Having some fun.

Now we just need a male to go along with her, hint hint.

I think the feedback I would most like to give is this- one reason why I like more normal eyebrows (not plucked, not thin, more natural) is because when we get the ability to use other products like GenX2 (or 3, or whatever in the future) that can reduce adults to kids, there's so few of them that translate well because the eyebrows look so bad (IMO) because they're plucked or lined. Not referring to yours specifically, I'm talking overall. So a few thicker eyebrowed characters would be wonderful, with the start of the brow having more individual hairs than what the lined brows show. They're too perfect. Thanks for listening!

Just so you know, I was holding off on buying more characters but since you were so nice and helpful I bought Cailin too (I mean she already looked great but I'm trying to not buy too many things.) See, PAs, being active on the forums can get you more sales. At least from me.

Edit: Oh, I think the reason I thought you made so many originals was because I was getting mixed up with Raziel, which is either Silver or someone that works with Silver a lot who may also be SilverCountess but may not be? I always feel like I'm encroaching upon some sort of sacred secret club when I try to figure out how the main PAs work together.

Yep, paying attention to customer service gets a sale, and the potential for future ones. The reverse can happen, which some forget.

I bought Cailin on the strength of this thread; I'd wishlisted the character, knowing I would get it. My favourite for G3.

By the way, the beauty of Raiya's Sasha (another wonderfully sculpted face, which I also own) can be seen in the  "RW Wild Leathers" promo. Now I am waiting for Raiya's Chiyo to go on sale ... her skin looks flawless and especially great for Asian renders.

Chiyo is awesome /nod. Bought that at the time of release as it was an asian character - they were rare and the skin looked about right.

  • Curious that there is an epidermal map for the face, but not for other surfaces, and that it doesn't seem to be used when the figure loads 'out of the box'.  I tried using it in the Top Coat Color channel (this is in Iray), as that seems like the logical place to put an image of the top skin layer.  Didn't seem to me to make any significant difference to the look of the face, even with Top Coat Weight cranked up to 1 from the default 0.7, but then the default set up uses the spec map in the Top Coat Weight channel so the weight slider may have little effect in any case.
