I am trying to figure out how to create light rays as seen in the promos, but can't figure out the included manual. Anyone here work with this set? http://www.daz3d.com/advanced-spotlight

I thought this set was supposed to do this as part of the product; which is why I bought it in the first place. I just can't figure out how to do it according to the instructions. I don't do well following manuals, lol.
well last time I tried to use this it didn't work and I beleive a number of folks have reported this in AOA's thread about these lights. But I admit I haven't tried in 4.8 or 4.9 beta and I cannot test as I am rendering a 4 hour render.
I'm still using 4.7, which I thought it was supposed to work in.
to get the rays like the promos you need to be using AOA's Atmo Camera's which has a new preset called EZ Foglight which will tag the Spot with the word "foglight" in the tag slot of the light in the Parameters Pane.
huh?
I've never worked with cameras other than the default camera or camera I add for a zoom camera. Would you mind walking me through it?
I take it you have the cameras? I can walk you through but it will have to wait until tomorrow as I am in the UK and it is getting close to my bedtime.
This is from memory. In the mean time if you have the cams then load the EZ Volume Cam, copy your main rendering cam and paste on to the EZ Vulome cam to position it. Then select the EZ cam and light and use the foglight ON preset.
It looks as though I do have them. I shall give it a try until tomorrow. Thanks :D
don't thank me yet. LOL http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/966965/#Comment_966965
It seems I'm more dim-witted that first thought, lol. I still can't figure it out based on last night's comment. I shall check out the link, now.
well if they aren't working then it may not be you.
So you're saying I won't be able to make it work in 4.7?
well that is what has been said
Figures ... So someone mentioned being able to fake it with primitives?
Our product here will do it, easier, and much faster: http://www.daz3d.com/expanded-godrays-celestial-bodies
It uses primitives and transmaps so it's not true volumetrics but you will be able to achieve the effect in the AoA promo.
