Stoooopid questions...

What is a geometry shell? I have seen references to this, and I don't know what it is. Same as it's not clear why the same figure has different UVs. Other than it allows you to sell more textures to people who have bought bunches of now obsolete textures From you in the past. Why can't you put a G2 uv setting on G3? I love my Mike G2 textures, but I can't get my G3 textures to look as good.

A geometry shell is like an invisible coating placed a very short distance (a few mm or less) from the body. You can then add maps, etc to this like the wet maps seen in today's product. Since the shell is kind of a separate figure that follows the original figure around, it can have a separate UV. You can create your own shells by clicking on a figure and then selecting Create->New Geometry Shell

In parameters, geo shell has an 'offset' which is what distance the shell is from the figure's surface. Note that you can make offset negative -- I've sometimes made glowy stuff under a surface this way.

Another thing I really like is using skins that have no eyebrows and adding eyebrows as a geoshell, because it's a lot easier to achieve fine hair-like effects that way (and you can then use tile offset to move the brows around)
