Anyone else got a chance to see The Expanse? I have to say I totally enjoyed the first episode. You can definitely tell that SyFy spent a truck load of money on this one. They even have an inside joke calling the show the The Expense. LOL!

I have never read the novels. To tell you the truth I didn't even know there was such a great epic tale.

The show will give any 3D artists a lot of ideas and inspiration for their art.

The show is very character driven, which I like. The problem is that I am having trouble finding any characters I might like. Only time will tell.

io9 has a review of the first episode, but you might want to see it before you read the review.

Liked it also, kinda BSG with a little Firefly feel to it. I also agree on the special effects and the camera work, a bit different and inspiring.

Lots of familiar faces for me, and too early to say who I will like, especially since I am still seeing the old roles they played while watching this one (The Punisher, LOL)

For anyone that doesn't have the SyFy channel, you can catch it on Youtube

A future as squalid (at least) as our present is not particularly inviting for me; neither are antiheroes.  I only made it about 20 minutes in before giving up on it.

That is what makes it so interesting to me. The UN taking over all earth, it is so real, it is like sci-fi-real. LOL!

Also, the conspiracy starts to take action around the final 20 to 15 minutes of the episode.

  • I haven't seen it yet, but likewise the prospect of yet another conspiracy driven plotline is discourging.  I might watch the first episode but it sounds like it will be a major turnoff.  There are no new ideas in Hollywood.

  • Loved it. It cleaves very close to the book for the first episode, at least, and I am very much in love with their casting choices.
