Ok, I don't complain, really I don't. But anyone noticed this curious fact:

1. If you buy a Bundle of Rune Outfit  you get 36.37 in cart as total (1 product, 30% off of 51,95)

2. If you buy Rune Outfits for Gen2 and Rune outfit for Gen3 separately plus Rune Outfit textures you get 33.68 in cart as total (3 products, 55% off of 74.95)

Just saying.

The textures are included in the bundle and so gives you all three for $36.37 (with the 30% PC discount), but even so it does indeed, according to your example appear to be cheaper buying them separately. At least for as long as this black friday discount is active.

What about the "up to 65% off" ?

30% for one, 40% for two, 55% for three... 60% off artists... am I that bad at counting?

Thanks, I corrected the original post. Didn't notice the textures were in the bundle as well.

What 65%? I don't even see a DO item in the new releases, so even with PC+ discount you don't get anything for 65% off. But you're right, the banner does make promises...

I'm also curious about that 65%

I also noticed that. I suspect the banner is wrong, as the email for the offer states the max discount is 60%

my thought was that the banner is meant to last a few days and the 65s come later, but who knows.

I really want some way to comment on some of the products released today, but Daz doesn't allow negative comments, and I'm afraid if I reword it positively someone will cry so

I am fairly sure negative comments are allowed, I have seen plenty, as long as they are not personal attacks directed at anyone, including the PA that made the item.

Oh, I have nothing against the PA, and they should have every right to make and sell whatever they like. I'm probably just not understanding the reasons Daz approved things. All good :)

See, now I'm just all catlike-curiosity at what you see that I don't.  It's a pretty basic set of DAZ items, today.  Nothing about it seems unusual at all, at least to me.  Sure, the ears seem a little simplistic, and the font tool makes me wonder if it was a redistributable font, and the Rune outfit sure does look like a Loki-homage, the poses & controller are basic stuff, the Iray lights and shaders are...well, lights.  Iolani seemed like a really generic character with a weird nose until I hit the 'Wings in PSD format' which is kind of a cool add-in. All told, all the new releases seem...mid-to-low average releases, the sort of thing DAZ puts up when they're taking a breather between sales.  They're going to be useful to someone, but most folks will use this chance to take a breath. :)

In general I've noticed prices inching up a bit, which is unfortunate, but that's been going on the last few weeks.

Originally the underwear stuck out like a sore thumb to me - I mean, they're just painted on, and look like they're made for the world of Victoria 3 to me. The sort of thing that gets featured on R'osity 15 times a day. I couldn't figure out how that passed the supposedly super strict Daz QA team to get released. But then I thought about it some more, and I realised that it could be useful for pinups in which clothing is half pulled down and you need a glimpse of underwear that isn't supplied with the over layer of clothing being used. Because 90% of G2/3F items seem to be focused around pinup style things and super trashy stripper styles.

I pretty much agree with your assessment of the rest of the items. I'm sure someone wants a fairytale prince but most won't, the Loki outfit is adapted from the female version, but wow the underlayer looks amazing. Iolani wings are beautifully painted but I wouldn't want a 2D image of wings in a render personally. I already have a slider for making ears pointy by default, but the people who want pointy fairy ears tend to be very specific about the exact type of pointy they want, so I'm sure that has an audience. Poses whatever - with the super combined partial pose packs around, I'm not sure why people are still okay with a few static poses instead of just posing them yourself, but sure. Text could be useful to many? And Iray lights and shaders seem pretty standard. (Also, not in this promotion, but a new PC+ Iray shader pack made me really happy. I buy those up like candy.)

Also, the 65% banner is gone, but the Rune Outfit is probably still cheaper to buy piece by piece if you want all of the bits (using this offer.)

Yes, but these ones have no holes for the butt cheeks. :)

(The sad part is I'm not even making that up...)

Butt those holes 'enhance and shape the volume of' their bottom!  Or...something like that.  SMH

Yeah, clothes via skin textures is pretty much just not something I've ever thought was a good idea, but I understand the niche places where folks might want it.  At least these are LIE presets, so they'll work on any tone of skin, which is a pretty cool feature.

I'm also not a huge fan of shaping clothes via cutout opacity, but it's a common enough approach (especially on 'rosity) that I can't dismiss stuff solely on that basis.

Yeah I think it was just a kneejerk reaction while thinking it was meant to be a proper clothing item. They'd also be useful for those users who are terrified of human bodies and need some sort of cover in that area.

  • I actually have mentioned that idea before using geometry shells too and I guess you still can, is not a bad idea but I would want more underwear not just knickers and for all my figures.

Under Dynamic clothing is where I'd use it.

But I am not using genesis 3 and not enough styles and items for me.

I like using cutout to shape clothes mainly to get versatility out of outfits. I mean, if I want the pants to be hemmed up a little, yes, I COULD go grab some morphs or whatnot to change pant lengths. But just sticking a cutout in to make the lower bit invisible seems way easier and looks as good...

I was also happy to turn the Ultra Bodysuit into a hoodie with a properly set up cutout (the default zones don't quite work right).
