is there a best way to get this lighting effect?

I am trying to do a red hue type atmosphere like in the image here from a movie pictured. What do you think would be the best method of obtaining this red hue type effect?

    That's easy. Just postwork it. Occam's razor.

    Well is there a way to do it just in daz? and what is Occam's razor?!?! what does a razor have to do with this?

    In short "Among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected."

    In this context he means maybe the easiest way is the best. Whic h may be just post working it in.

    You could also play around with a few dark red lights and see if that gives you the look your after in DS.

    Just place the camera inside a red tinted glass volume.

    you could tint the light reddish. the diffuse color for the light properties.  

    works great with advanced ambient if you haz the aoa advanced camera.

    if you do it in post you have FAR more options available to you.

    it was likely done in post for the screen cap in the OP.

    Yup, like getting the dark areas darker. Something you might have issues with the camera/volume method.

    I was going to suggest buying a lot of cheap sunglasses with red lenses and giving them out to anyone who wishes to view the image... But after reading the other posts, I suppose that is not the simplest solution...  Stupid Occam and his shaving kit.

    Is there there a reason you can not do it in postwork? Like is it for a contest or a client's request?  If you don't have Photoshop, there are several alternatives, the best of which would be GIMP... Or if you want to try it, download the full demo of Filter Forge (available at their site)...(as of yesterday there was still an 80% off sale too)... there are a few filters that could probably match that effect... Looking at it there appears to be some blur effect going in addition to the red hue... There are a lot of cool photo effects in FF, you should check out the filter library.

    Render normally with a strong key light.  Take into photo program,  dull the colors to something close to grayscale,  add a layer,  tint it red,  set to multiply,  and adjust opacity to suit.  You can also try overlay

    this is with ambient tinted red 85% bright.

    and a red tinted plane at 99.9 transparency between camera and subjects.

    I think the original is, in Latin, something like "entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity" - which is how science works, don't introduce new forces/particles/beings unless you absolutely cannot explain thinmgs without them. It carries its own definition of what simplicity is in looking for the "simplest explanation".
