Any way to rotate then zero etc ?

I don't mean simply using the setting to reset the rotation to zero.

I mean I wondered if you can rotate a prop to the desired rotation and then have that rotation become the new zero ?

Same with scale etc, it would just save me going in and out of Blender, especially getting scale right.

Cheers :)

The only way I can think of is to export the prop as obj, and then reimport it.

It really depends on what you're end result is for the pipeline.

One way to do it would be to convert the prop to a figure. The base skeleton setup gives you the base and a hip similar to a typical humaniod figure.

So you could rotate the hip to whatever angle or scale you want, but the base figure will still have all zero defaults.

If this isn't suitable for purpose, please provide a little more details as to what the end result requirements are.

This may not be the best way to do this but it should work.  If it's just a prop you could rotate it as desired, then create a null at (0,0,0) and align the prop center or base or corner( or whatever works best) to the zeroed null, then make the null the parent to the prop, and rename the null as your object.  Save the null/prop as a scene without cameras or lights and use it as an importable thing into new scenes.

  • You could parent the rotated object to a Null and then manipulate the null (it would be zero'd).

Personally...I prefer the export/reimport route, for props.
