Resetting G9 Base Figure

omvendtomvendt Posts: 145

Dear experts,

When I load the G9 base figure, it is suddenly very odd looking. A bunch of morphs have infected it, I suspect. Please see attached image which shows the "Currently Used" list from the "Parameters" tab. I thought of deleting some of the sliders. When I click the "Edit" button on the "Currently Used" field, a column opens up with Ps or Ms to the left of the sliders. I don't know what that means. I can right-click on a slider, and select "Delete Selected Property". But I don't know if I should delete all the sliders to reset the G9 base figure. I also don't know if deleting a slider will lead to a permanent change.

Does anyone know what I should do to permanently reset G9 ?

Thanks in advance!

The Saga character for Sigrid is the one causing the problem, it has a non-zero default value and so loads automatically in all G9 figures. That was reported when Sigrid was released.

Not sure if it has been fixed yet (I dont have the character), if so you should have an update available. Otherwise I suggest uninstalling it for now.

Thanks! I never purchased Sigrid, just downloaded Saga from the membership store, thinking I would have Sigrid one day. I tried to double click on Saga to see what would happen and I suspect that is when the G9 Base got infected. Later, I deleted the Saga directories from File Explorer hoping that would be a cure. It was not.
How would I uninstall Saga? If I right-click on the "Actor" icon, no useful options appear.

IIRC there should be an "install" tab where you can see what you installed from within DS. You should be able to uninstall it from there.

Thanks and what does "IIRC" mean?

I did find the "Install" tab but it looks like it is for products that I could install but have not yet.

Could I load the base G9, remove the morphs, save as "Character Preset" and override the offending version of G9?
But if I try to do so, there is no "save" option, only "save as" and I don't know where the G9 base resides.

I am getting quite annoyed at Daz. If they made a mistake with Saga for Sigrid, they should push a fix out. [Later correction: Daz did push this correction out]

Would this problem (autoloading of Saga for Sigrid morphs) go away if I installed Sigrid?

IIRC means "If I Remember Correctly". The pane I was thinking about was actually the "installed" sub-tab in the product view in Smart Content. If you search for Saga in the product view, you should get the option to uninstall it (at least I think, I never install anything from Smart Content). There's a sub-tab for "Updates" there too so if there's a fixed version of the character you should see it there.

The problem is not the base G9 itself, it's the additional character Saga files. And no, installing Sigrid would not fix it, it would simply change the resulting shape when Saga auto-applies.
The long-term fix would be to change the default value for the morph which loads automatically then resave the corresponding morph asset, but I'm not sure we can do that for content installed from within DS as the files are encoded.
The procedure to fix the morph would be something like this:

    • Load G9, select it, then zero the figure shape. When it asks you if you're sure you want to zero (=set everything to 0) and not restore (=set everything to default), choose zero.
    • When you look in "Currently used" section in the shaping tab, you'll see morphs with values different from their default value. The dial for Saga should now be there, as it's currently 0 which is not its default value.
    • Click the cogwheel on the right of the Saga morph dial and open the parameter settings. You should have a parameter for the default value of the morph, set that to 0.
    • Save the modified morph asset (I think the command is "Edit->Save As->Support Asset->Save Modified Assets")

What you could try in the mean time would be to load G9, manually set the "Saga" dial to 0, and save a scene subset or character preset. As 0 is not the default value of the morph I think the file should explicitely include "set Saga to 0" so it would not be applied by default.

Thanks for all your help. I didn't try Leana's last proposal, but am grateful for her taking the time to suggest it. What worked was finding Saga and rightclicking on the icon. Then I chose "Reinstall" and it did. So, I am happy! Also, apologies to Daz, who really did push a solution out.

Good to know that the fix is now available.
