Why is it that when clicking off the "Use Limits" option, some parameters can be set to extremely high values while other while others don't show anything if you exceed the limit and looks the same as if you were still doing the limit?

    I would guess that the ones that don't change are not driving anything directly but are controlling other properties, and those still have their limits applied. Click the gear icon on the slider>Parameter Settings and look for a Sub components tab in the lower half - that will show any controlled properties, which may have limits of their own.
