G3 Base figures weird texturing
Anyone know how to fix this issue with the base G3 figures? I was checking them out just to see what they were like and they look like this in the render view. Karen 7, a G3 character, does not have this isssue, it's only the base G3F and G3M figures, it seems.

In Surfaces pane, with Face surface selected, check if UV Set is correctly defined as Base Female / Male, as well as Horizontal Tiles and Vertical Tiles are set as 1.0.
Yes, the UV set is set to Base Female or Male and the tiling is set to 1.0
Which texture is applied to your G3 figure? It might not be intended for the base UVs.
Genesis 3 core figures often included custom UVs and textures intended for those. Karen 7 does, for example, so Karen's texture would not work properly with the base female UVs selected.
Karen7 should be in the UV dropdown under surfaces
there is one for each surface so if you only changed the skin, you need to set her for all the skin surfaces
if using other characters eyes etc use their base
where this becomes a huge issue is things like universal displacement maps and LIE settings
Texture transfer being the only real solution for the former and using geoshells instead for the latter
The strange thing I notice is that the Genesis 3 Base Female is pointing to a texture set "ryjeane" under the raiya/jeane folders . But I do not have any characters named that. Is this the wrong texture set for the base female Gen 3? This is stock out of the box after installing Genesis 3 Starter Essentials.
What textures should it have?
there is a Karen 7 in the drop down but switching to it makes no difference. I did not change the textures on the Base Female so I don't know why it's not mapping the default textures correctly for that character. I'm good with Karen 7, works great. Just the base Gen 3 characters are not working correctly, and it's straight out of the box after downloading the essentials.
I did make a ticket with Daz for this but I have no idea how long it takes them to respond. I know this is old characters but the performance is great when using them and they still look great.
The default textures for G3F base is from Raiya.
If you in Surfaces e.g. hoover over Face Diffuse/Base color, does it then look normal?
you do look like you have the wrong body texture on the face in your image attachment
The preview of the texture map looks like it should. i think it's a tiling issue . this must be a Daz issue, because all I am doing is double clicking Genesis 3 Female in the smart content. There is literally nothing that I am doing that should change anything.
I fully agree that it look like a tiling issue, but you have said there is no tiling, i.e. 1.
Then I can only suggest to reinstall Genesis 3 Female essentials.
I still think it's most likely a tiling issue. I could reproduce the issue by setting them to 2.0, so, pls double-check if they're set as 1.0. (screenshot 1)
mine are all 1.0. Changing the tiling settings does not actually do anything visible. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Genesis 3 Essentials, no change. I uninstalled them again, and they still show up in Daz Studio as being available. If I browse to the location it was in some data/cloud numbered folder. So I deleted that folder and reinstalled again, now they are in the People -> Genesis 3 Female folder but I can't double click them in the smart content browser, it says it can't find them. But if I double-click them in Explorer, it loads. But the textures are still not fixed.
What happens if you set tiling to 0.5?
Don't forget that there is also a per-image toling setting, click on the nano-thumbnail next to the colour picker and select Image Editor
You also can save the scene file and attach it in here so that folks can help with checking ~~
Daz got back to me, they said they couldn't replicate the issue. It could be some corruption in my specific install. But here is the scene file . the figure appears fine in shaded texture mode, just not in iray preview or render window
What version of DS are you using ?
G3 uses AOA's SS shader, which was built in the ShaderMixer using RSL for use with 3Delight.
True, I was on Iray auto-pilot. I have seen issues like that in 3Delight, I asume some kind of memory corruption, but a restart usually fixed them. Of course there is no iray in DS 4,24,0,4 anyway, so it is getting converted to Iray on render - it may be worth applying the Iray Uber base shader to the figure and then checking the per-map tiling in case there is a weird issue with the conversion..
That fixed it. I applied the Uber shader to the figure, and I checked all the tiling on each surface. Most were set to 2 horizontal and vertical. I reset them to 1 and now the figure is displaying correctly in the iray preview.
Thanks
