Error Opening File
Hey everyone,
I have been using Daz3d for about a month now and have run into my first major issue.
Tonight a lightning storm passed over my house so I quickly decided to save my scene and shut down my pc.
After the storm passed I opened up Daz and opened my scene, only to be met with this Error message.
After doing some research online I have seen some forums mentioning that this is likely due to a corrupted file from exiting Daz during a save, crashing during a save, etc etc.
I am 99% sure I waited for daz to finish saving before closing the program and shutting down but I cant be 100% sure due to the quick panic from the thunderstorm.
I cant find any temp file auto saves or anything that could possibly roll back the scene.
I use the Daz 2025 (6.25) Public Build to utilize my 50 series gfx card and thought It may be a compatibility issue with an asset thats throwing the error, but even trying to open the scene with Daz 4.24 throws the same error.
I can open all my other scenes with 2025 and 4.24 with no problems, its just specifically this scene that is erroring.
Here is the error Log ↓

Does anybody have any knowledge on salvaging this scene or is it corrupted real good.
Cheers

You can open the file in a text editor. If it is compressed you need to unpack it first. Can be e.g. done with 7-zip.
The file seams very large, do you have many dForce simulations or unsaved objects in the scene. Is that correct?
"Unexpected end of file" does sond like a compression issue, it hits a point where it cannot get valid characters and then sails on to the end of the file looking for the next close (", ], } etc.) and not finding one. It may be that DS had finished sending the file but the OS hadn't ffinished writing it to the actual drive, or it may be a glitch due to the storm caused one byte to take a bad value. An archive repair tool might help, but I am not sure anyone has ever had success with those.
I have only 4 dforce simulations, 2x shirts & 2x pants.
The file has about 3 small scenes in it, 2 of which were turned off.
I have successfully decompressed and opened with a text editor, i tried doing a search function for the pars number error but nothing is showing up.
Interesting, thanks for the information, I will check out an archive fixer and see what happens.
Thanks
I myself ever fixed some corrupted DUFs... but your DUF file seems pretty large ( > 6.3 Mil lines ...) which might make the fixing really difficult.
In general, whether you can fix the DUF file or not... mostly depends on how the file is corrupted ~~ You can open the DUF file with Notepad++ (uncompress it via DS > Window > Panes > Batch Convert... if the file is compressed)
Then go to the code line > 6,318,237, column 28, see what you can find ~~ are they readable or just gibberish codes ?
I did not realise the first number and second number were column and row, that is some very useful advise!
I found the broken code, it was missing a ] at the end, i replaced the ] but still throwing error, check logs, showing that the script is missing }, oh that makes sense (i used to code in C# in unity engine)
Found the code, traced back how many brackets and curly brackets were missing, added them in. everything looks awesome, nope, still errors, now is saying unexpected characters, i double triple and quadrippe checke the brackets are in the right place, copied similar structures in code above, nothing, unexpected characters, added and removed brackets to test if it was one too many or one too less, errors....
The scene was fairly basic so I havnt lost too much so i think i will just recreate it, this has been a very fun and challenging dilema and im glad it happened on a simple scene and not something dramatic! D;
Thank you to everyone who gave me advise, youre all awesome.
Cheers!
That looks like a list of vertices (number, then three numbers that are either postions in space or, given their size, more likely morph deltas). If that is the end of the file I would guess it was truncated and is probably not recoverable.
