@barbult - if you haven't left already: have a great vacation!
Glad you found time to get Tom-Boy a home before you left. Ah, the return of Muck after what feels like years!
Thank you all for the nice comments.
Yes, @MelanieL, it has been years since Muck has appeared in my scenes. When Iray came out, he looked bad, because Iray didn't support his detailed and important displacement details. Yesterday I had the inspiration that maybe the DS6 Alpha could render Muck. He does look better in the Alpha, so he came back for this story episode.
We leave early morning on the 11th. Wish us a smooth Drake Passage crossing! We have a seasickness medication in case we get a Drake Quake instead of a Drake Lake. We will be in the Drake Passage two days out and two days back.
Hmm, at least they shouldn't be fire-drakes down there. Although, Tierra del Fuego isn't far... I hope you have a good time comparing notes with the penguins.
We will have a little tour of Tierra del Fuego before boarding the ship. I'm far more colorful than the penguins. They will probably be envious of my blue plumage. Unless, of course, I attract the attention of a leopard seal and he has me for lunch. In which case, someone else has to continue this thread in my memory.
I hope you have a great time, and I'm sure you'll come back full of ides for new adventures for Richard.
I did worry about Leopard seals, but at least you can fly (as long as it isn't too cold). I was thinking you were almost the exact oposite of a penguin, fly vs swim, hot home vs cold, colourful vs monochrome, so lots of potential for comparing and contrasting lifestyles.
I wonder if we speak the same language (the penguins and I). Can different bird species understand each other? I've never actually thought about that before.
as a parrot, you probably can mimic them
but given the size difference, if one got arroused, it probably wouldn't end well
Don't think Emperor Penguins, the biggest, live as far north as Tierra del Fuego, so most Penguins living that far north shouldn't be oversized compared to barbult, and a few species quite a lot smaller.
ETA: Just checked with the oracle (Google), King Penguins, the second biggest, have (and possibly currently do) live on Tierra del Fuego. But Emperor Penguins are endemic to Antarctica
Regards,
Richard
we have cute little fairy penguins down here in Australia
Biirds sing and music is said top be a univrsal language.
And there was me thinking that violence was the universal language

I assembled one from Temu but my cat Lucy, ignores it
Wishing you all the best on your journey, @barbult.
These are wonderful, barbult! I'm enjoying them.
I may be wrong, but I think this may be evidence of Richard trying to relieve the owner of the local Palladian Mansion of some of her unwanted food. Either that, or its just his efforts to obtain another supplicant.
Regards,
Richard.
Well, places like that tend to have a wde selection of mice.
Thanks for letting us know, @barbult
Safe further explorations.
I hope the views are good despite the weather.
If the weather interferes with the viewing, at least that's a lot of critters already seen.
hopefully it'll be good, though.
Ohhhh Barb... I am sooo jealous... Hubby and I love adventures like yours.. but now with mom and dad we are limited in time and place to our travels... Looks like USA for us for a while.. The story of floating piece of ice seems interesting - looking forward to it.
