I disagree. Because one makes Wednesday-esque promos does not automatically make the character a Jenna lookalike. In the other promos of Merriweather she looks nothing like Jenna.

It's just an aesthetic CJ really likes. See CJ Luna for example.
That's true for about 95% of all the Celebrity lookalikes shown here. The basic figures, without fitting make-up, clothing and - most important - the right angle for the picture rarely show a real similarity to the celebrity some people think to see.
She also originated as a cartoon character in the New Yorker:
Making every realistic depiction of her just an interpretation.
I find your comparison somewhat odd. Your comparison is flawed because your example is predicated solely upon the similarity of hairstyles. I would contend first that CJ is not typically in the habit of creating look-a-likes save that their figures have a tendency to a similar facial structure or skin texture, as most PAs are identifiable in such a manner. In the case of Merriweather, however, the facial structure is far more reminicent of Jenna Ortega and is obvious in multiple promo images. Equally, the hairstyle is far more like that of her character Wednesday Addams. Taken altogether, it is iconic, The only promo that could refute the premise is one for the character in question, in which the chin dimple isn't noticable. Instead you chose a character that is like a myriad of CJ's characters and only vaguely similar in that she possesses pigtails without a french fringe. I say this not to disparage CJ's work, merely to critique your argument, I own a great many of their works, so there must be something about them that I appreciate - though I tend not to like the sort of facial moles or beauty marks that tend to show up on the character's facial textures, I do find them otherwise excellently crafted. And I don't presume that my taste is everyone's taste. I do examine look-a-likes with a critical eye though as collecting them is something of a hobby, or even obsession of mine.Good ones anyway. Obviously I consider this a good one.
Please, this has been discussed to death and in the end it just takes the thread off topic. The problem with the word "lookalike" is that people don't even know the meaning of the word. If an artist gets a look a lot closer to the celebrity, consider it a bonus.
I have replied to these countless times. I am going to write this on a page and include the images I have on the topic to see if more people can be educated on the topic, and link to it in my signature.

A lookalike is a not a mirror image of another person. That's the problem with most of the discussion about lookalikes in the 3D space. Now if you are looking for a detailed sculpt of a celebrity that's another thing.
A lookalike doesn't even have to be of the same nationality or skin color. I've seen an Arnold Schwarzenegger black lookalike.. They don't even have to have the same bone structure; ie, one person can have a round head and another an oval head (see attached image).
Who is Katrina for G9 by Sangriart ?
Christina Ricci vibe perhaps but not convinced ?
S.
I thought the same thing -- "looks like young Christina Ricci" --, but I also feel unlikely to be... Like, Sangriart's character, with the exception of Kirsten Dunst as Claudia in "Interview with the Vampire," are usually more contemporary/what's trending at the moment.
Just imagine an older Eddie Murphy with the signature mustache and haircut and he looks like Charlie Chaplin's inspiration for the "The Great Dictator"
I tend to agree on the "vibe". Not 100% perhaps, especially in the bust, but somewhat convincing. And I can't think of anyone else who fits ATM.
It's Christina Ricci. Her character's name in the movie Sleepy Hollow is Katrina; the model looks like her character too.
I do appreciate CJ's models. I have quite a few of them. Their Merchant Resources are also top notch. I just think that for Merriweather, while some of the promo artworks were 100% inspired by Jenna's portrayal of Wednesday, she just does not look like Jenna to me.
My comparison with CJ Luna was simply because the overall aesthetics keeps coming back now and then. Same clothing, braids albeit different hair set. CJ Luna even had a custom set of expressions for her (not made by CJ though) and the promos for that are even more Wednesday-esque haha.
As for this thread, this happens all the time. Someone sees someone in a look, while others do not. So yes I guess some "concensus" takes place when a look is close enough.
Now, back to our Merriweather. Just reminding you that this is just my opinion..
I did acquire her since as a Daz Original I could get her for dirt cheap. After a quick look :
I also have a bunch of lookalikes, but I have been making my own for a good while now. Jenna is the one I have spent the most time on by a large amount. Not my longest running custom model, but by far the most time consuming one. My current iteration of her has had work scattered over 16 months as of now. So I am extremely picky when it comes to her. I am also my harshest critic and tweak her nearly everytime I load her up. I currently have 45 morphs dialed on top of when I last made a standalone version of her around Christmas.
I was never happy with lookalikes of Jenna, because while they could mostly do Wednesday to some extent, none of them looked like Jenna when you removed her braids. Soooo I made my own.. Including face textures with most of her actual freckles, and custom normals catching the grooves of her lips matching some IRL photos. Yes, I am very deep in that rabbit hole.
All this to say, Merriweather does not look like Jenna to me. Here, a quick comparison between my own (first one) and Merriweather (second) with a bun hair. I have many renders of her as Wednesday but I cannot share them here. I post them on DA under a different username.
Given the amount of hidden grief I sustain I'm reluctant to comment, but I must say that your work is quite nice indeed and I bow to your superior attention to detail in this instance. I... dabble in rolling my own, but not to the extent of devoting a year and a half perfecting (and by your admission, not achieving) the ideal of a goal. Still an admirable imitation of reality. I wonder what the effect of putting the skin of your work on CJ's would have on the end result though, would it alter the appearance significantly enough to matter? I've had some luck in that regard, which is why I buy figures that I'm not inherently interested in, but for the textures they come with that feel different enough from a PA's usual work, since I lack the skill (or time to devote) to create custom skins. I keep meaning to dabble in lots of things, but only have so much time. Anyway, I do applaud your effort, and I'll have to look up your work on DA, eh?
(removed past comments due to the reply taking too much space - don't want to hijack the thread too much lol)

Here - not 100% the same as I had not saved the scene but I tried reproducing it on top of my head - it seems the light hits slightly differently and the camera position is also a bit different, but overall mostly the same still.
My morphs with Merriweather's skin (and "Face Freckles Dark", like yesterday's), and Merriweather with my skin. There's only so much a texture can do :)
