But if you are just tring to make a drapable flag your best bet is probably the dynamic flag suggested by isidorn in the second post.
Can you guys help me out? I am trying to make an american flag blanket? I found morphing blanket in sharecg. The Dynamic Flag has no morphs so I can wrap it around my figure. I need to find textures to fit the morphing blanket. thx
Just find the texture for the morphing blanket and add a flag texture to it and save as another texture.
The dynamic flag has no morphs because it is dynamic, meaning you have to drape it for it to fall over the figures and or objects in the scene, very different from conforming like the blanket
What does "drape for it to fall over the figures or objects" mean? I had assumed that the word "dynamic" meant that the flag would blow in the wind a bit, like the flared skirt. The product even comes with a flag pole... please tell me this isn't a "stiff" flag like on Apollo 11.
Dynamic items are mostly affected by gravity, the addition of wind is an option. For the blanket you position over the place you want it to go, and the dynamic calculation will work out how it drapes as it falls over the target as it would by real gravity. The result is a much more realistic drape than you get with conforming items.
Locate the surface tab for the blanket. You need to have the blanket selected in the scene first.
Find the blanket in the surface tab and double click to expand it. This shows you all the surfaces. Find the main texture file, it will be either 'diffuse color' or 'base color' depending on its type. I don't know how many surfaces it might have, but its probably just one or two for a blanket (maybe front and back.)
Hover the mouse over the texture, it will read out the file path of the texture. Use this to locate the file location of your texture.
Look at the general dimensions of the texture. It is probably square, but it could be anything.
Now use Google Image Search to look for US flag. Find one that has a similar ratio. It doesn't have to be. But obviously, the US flag is not square, so the image would distort on a square blanket. You may wish to photoshop it to better match the original texture size of the blanket.
Save this pic, anywhere you like, but saving in the same folder with the original textures is easier for me. Save as jpg or png. Give it an easy name to find.
Back in Daz, go to that surface texture again and double click the diffuse or base color. Now you can replace it with the one you chose. You should see the result right away in your scene. Make sure the base color is white.
Depending on what your blanket looks like by default, you might want to swap out additional textures. If it is plain by default, it probably wont matter.
Edit- Didn't see this was an old post. Oh well.
Sorry, I guess I had brought the thread back to life when I saw how stiff the dynamic flag seems to be.
