Pricing Madness!
in The Commons
Hi, I just bought dForce Joy Hair for Genesis 8 Females for $6.99, and as soon I'd completed the sale I noticed I could have a bought it in the Kui Joy Bundle with other items for only $3.49!
It's not the money, I just think its crazy I have to check all options before buying anything. I cant keep track of the crazy yoyo-ing sales / prices here.
There, Rant over. LoL

You could contact customer support regarding this. This is more common than you think. It's one of the reasons why I check bundles first.
The prices during the promotional month will surprise you even more.
Sets are definitely cheaper than individual items, but you don't necessarily need everything in a set.
Making careful purchases on Daz is more fun than rendering.
Any product that's included in a bundle should have a link to that bundle at the bottom of the store page. Always click on that link before buying anything that's on sale. That said, now that the DAZ store usually gives you credit on a bundle for items that you already own... something that works about 80% of the time... you might try putting that bundle in the cart to see what it's selling for now, once the hair price is deducted. I'm not sure how the DAZ math is figured (I don't think even DAZ really understands it) but often the discount seems to be based off a higher price, espcially if you used tokens.
it's in outlet
owning parts don't apply to outlet stuff even if it tells you so when you add it to your cart
That's part of why I said it works about about 80% of the time. That said, the point about always checking for a bundle link still works and it's a habit that any cost conscious DAZ customer should culture as an automatic response.
Since the hair puchase is not deducted from the price of the bundle the OP should be able to purchase the bundle and return the earlier hair purchase for a refund.
If you're of a masochistic bent, maybe, but whatever floats your boat.
I used to just find the process annoying, but ever since DAZ brought over that huge wave of old Renderosity products, I liken the process of double-checking to make sure I'm not duplicating purchases to that of walking barefoot through a room filled with invisible lego parts.
it's what I would do and tell them why
@Cybersox Funny thing is, Tima at Rendo (the erstwhile vendor 3D Sublime, and generally a nice person, from the limited contact I've had with her) tried to pass off the deluge of rendo vendors and products that migrated here as a few vendors and some of their products.
We've been flooded, and a some of the products are add-ons for products still at rendo, and there are a few I found for products that don't even exist any more. Or if they do exist, I've no idea where they went. It's a mess!
It's really hard to say how many Vendors were "new" to DAZ in that wave, as 3D artists are rather like hobos and tend to wander from place to place, and many of the ones who were part of that surge had technically been vendors here once before.. even though it may have been years since many of those had last been active here. However, many definitely were new and, more importantly, the absolute number of older product that were previously sold at Rendo was easily the second biggest infusion of catalog items into the store at once since RuntimeDNA shut down. Heck, Anagord alone added over a thousand skus, Valkyrie over 800, and there were qute a few more who each dropped several hundred. That said, as messed up as this transfer of assets was, it's nothing compared to the mess that was the RDNA merging, where there were bundles that included otherrandom bundles, bundles that included items that weren't in the store seperately, and artists who were here at DAZ only long enough to sell off a bunch of items that became D.O., many of which still don't have accurate documentation to this day.
The old Rendo products that are "new" I wish had a sub-tag that applied to everyone of those PAs that would allow me to investigate them seperately from the normal flow of new/old DAZ 3D and DAZ first PAs products. As it is, unless I recognize them, like Cybertenko, I'm not going to even look most of the time, the volume of product is too high & my budget too limited. I did intentially buy a 2nd time a DAZ Cybertenko product I had already purchased before for the sake of convience, i.e. Cybertenko did a re-fit for Genesis 8, or was it Genesis 9, and the bookkeeping convenience of having it downloaded & catalogued iin DIM is quite nice; lol, but only when those products were on deep discount sale, as I'm not Mr. Moneybags.
Thanks for all the replies to my 'toddler footstamping rant'. :D
I did contact the AI customer support and they referred me to an actual person, they said, and I got a case number and told to expect an email.
But nothing since.
To be honest the money is nothing really, its just an annoyance, and after the debacle of the Advent Calendar this is really nothing to get upset about.
So thanks for all your comments/help, but I'll draw a line under it now.

I hear you, @Cybersox . I think a lot of items are going to have inaccurate documentation from now 'til the end of time. Nothing we can do about it. We also have decade-old products with surprisingly recent product numbers, no metadata, etc. Oh well. On we go!
If only it did work that way.
Fortunately, it does work the other way. If you bought an Outlet/QG item, and later buy the rest of the bundle you get the full Owned Item discount. I keep an eye out in QG/Outlet for not just my wishlisted bundles but their components for this reason.
Well, I'm rather kicking myself here. I Did put in for a refund as was recommended here, and was told I'd receive it as Store Credit.
Unfortunately, the $6 coupon I used was Not returned, and the item was withdrawn from my account.
So I spent $6.99 and now have no item, and only the .99 that was refunded.
I wish I hadnt bothered. :/
Yeah, that's what happened to me once. (But it wasn't always that way.) All I can suggest is do a bit of research on the item before buying with an $X Off coupon*, unless you trust the PA's (if listed) work. I find this lessens the chances of needing a return, even if you're not using a coupon. The easiest way to research an item is to search with your favorite engine - not the forum search. Using something like Item Name Daz Forums for the terms works well for me.
*Using % Off codes, you get back what you paid
I had them restore my Monthly coupon in a similar case, but that's years ago, so I don't know if they'll do it now.
