25 days. I'm getting jittery, shaking, cold sweats. Other than a few Daz+ items, overall the selections in those 25 days are just not in my interest range. Makes not spending a lot easier for sure. Awaiting the new Quick Grabs tomorrow.

But are you actually rendering anything? Or just going through shopping withdrawal? ;) (On a more serious note, congrats! I don't know if I ever went so long without a purchase.)

Mostly withdrawal crying  I have actually been doing some scenes, trying different products, getting somewhat frustrated as all I seem to be able to do are portrait type renders. I need to get back to where I was way back in Poser days, rekindle that creative enthusiasm. When it was all new. I have the products, just need to fire up myimagination. What's interesting about that, every product I buy comes with a use, a scene, in mind. For whatever reason, once in my runtime it just sort of flies away. Anyway, this is getting out of the realm of sales, which sooner or later, there will be another one.

What you're describing happens to me, too; in that way, the shopping somehow manages to strangle the actual creativity. Only reasonably good explanation (just FYI) I've found so far is that our friend imagination is actually a rather lazy guy; he wants to play but is not so keen on the hard work that usually needs to follow. If it fires up in a shopping process and then you go ahead and buy the thing it composed, say, a render in your head about, then it'll be quite happy to accept the buying as the finishing of the whole process. Because it did all the imagining, didn't it? So it can take the rest of the day off, no? ... Sorta like that is how it works, I think.

I think a big part of it is that there's a lot regurgitation of similar products comes with every new figure base so a lot of what's in the store isn't really all that "new" perception-wise... Coupled that with the fact that a lot of the tools, scripts, utilities, etc. a lot of us use haven't been duplicated yet, while the tricks required for using the newer stuff often requires a different mental process (example: working with dforce cothing and hair versus conforming.)  It all gets away from the fun.  What you might want to try is to go back to an earlier figure base, as I spent a good bit of time and money trying to integrate G9 into my process and oten found it grueling due to all the quirks and issues with that system, but when I go back to working with G3 and G8 I can just let loose, go by instinct, and spend more time being creative.

I'm pretty sure even V4 seemed overall to be pretty darn good. Yeah, its like each generation takes away some of the excitement..its all great one the first day, but then you realizze a lot of your workflow has changed, and you end up dealing with that instead of doing something productive. I'm also thinking I was more creative using Poser than DS. I liked the interface a lot overall.

As a figure V4 WAS damned good.  Better than a lot of the things about Genesis and Genesis 2 in a lot of repects, really, but autofit was a tremendous time saver and the ease of dial spinning new characters was a strong counterargument to V4's superior posing... hence the reason the entire userbase split into opposing factions,  Really, it wasn't until iray and Genesis 3 that I'd argue that a Genesis figure was substantially outperfoming V4, and even then we still had to wait for user frriendly dynamic cloth and hair solutions onb a par with what Poser had already had for a decade...

    "Annual Unmentionables Sale"

...I could swear a lingerie-focused sale happened a lot more frequently than once a year.

Or is this like "soon" and "final" and "today" where Daz is using a totally different definition than everyone else?

  • kyoto kidkyoto kid Posts: 41,987

...I wasn't expecting this until next month.  So much for double token Tuesday as not one item on my wishlist appars in the Featured Artist category.

Maybe there will be a flash sale later?

Oh yes, I actually have the impression that there is an “Unmentionables” sale every other day at the latest. However, this does not mean lower prices, quite the contrary. Sometimes you get the impression that the less fabric a garment has, the higher the price is... lol

Every day is unmentionables day, or so it often seems. laugh

Even plain men's underpants keep getting more expensive as the cloth gets thinner and the construction gets flimsier...

You name it. No fabric at all is probably the most expensive option. Let people walk around naked and pay for it! Brilliant business idea... wink

I don't think that one's gonna work well in Minnesota, LOL.

(In my defense, the blanket-hoodie is because my computer's right next to a window)

Oh dear. Ever since I first saw Fargo a long time ago (still one of my favourite films), I've always associated Minnesota with snow. Lots of snow. Deep snow. And currently, of course, another state of water.

No, I probably wouldn't be very successful there with this idea... lol

Yesterday in Denver, with about an inch of fluffy, dry snow, 4 - 6 F, -3F feels like at 5am, I was dressed in sockies, wool socks, long underwear, underwear pants, bra, long sleeve shirt, sweater, heavy man's coat, ski hat, and heavy duty gloves to brush off my van. Went back upstairs, stripped off outer gear to dry/warm it off in dryer, and later dressed back in that coat, fuzzy gloves I can drive in, hat, ID, keys, phone, I am back down warming up the van before my flatmate comes down. When he did, I slowly drove off to Target and dropped him off for work by 05:50 hrs. It was in the 40s with a wind chill when I picked him up at 2pm. Thankfully we are headed to 50s this week. Unfortunately our drought is really bad shape. Not good.

Oh, but we're so much more than snow! We spend most of the summer in the 80-90F's (or higher), with high humidity.

Sometimes you get summer and winter in the same week, no lie. Ma Nature likes to keep us on our toes.

(As a point of interest, movie claims to the contrary, the city of Fargo isn't actually in Minnesota. It's in North Dakota. I suppose they decided calling the movie "Moorhead" -- the city on the MN side from Fargo -- invoked the wrong genre.)

    I've always called it Far-to-go

  • CybersoxCybersox Posts: 9,355

Wow.  They should have called this one Speaking of Unmemorable, as the only things of real interest for me today were the new freebie and PC+ items.  Otherwise, no new items that I'm willing to spend the asking prices for, already own everything I wanted in all of the promotional categories, and without an"intimate" item to trigger the additional discount, nothing in the featured artists categories that I can't wait for a better price on.

On the other hand, after all the issues with the confusing use of "Wishlist" links in the weekend sale, I wonder how many "Intimate items" DAZ is going to receive in the mail from people seeking discounts?  I think I have some ratty old things in the rag bin that I could send in... devil

  • Fingers crossed for something enticing (for me) soon. I still have two coupons unused this month ..

...hmm, the "Intimate Artist Stores" category for today states the base discount (with no buy-in) is 60%

So why when I click "View all Artist Items do I see only 50% listed?

They really need to proofread their copy before uploading as this is getting ridiculous.

  • Flash sale up. But two new buy-ins gets you 80%. So even with Daz+ items that's about nine bucks. Selection 5,000 items. Probably you have rejected already. Good luck. I didn't find much. Still, that Christmas Sale was fab. Guess I'll wait for March Madness. On the plus side, I have a lot of stuff to try out and the sale pressure seems to be off.

  • kyoto kidkyoto kid Posts: 41,987

'...this is a miss as it's the end of the month and finances are low.

Even with two Daz+ items (which can range up to 15.98 USD for two 7.99 items) it means the extra 20% in savings needs to at least match or exceed the amount of the "buy in" to make it worth it. This is why those like myself who are on more limited budgets often aren't interested.

thing is, if you buy the newest DAZ+ items, if you haven't already, they come to about $5 or so for both. That makes it much more palatable. In that FLASH sale today, there are 2 items from my wishlist included. One of them I don't care if I buy. I'm waiting for it to come waaaaay down in price. The other I think would be great. Even just it and 2 DAZ+ items would give me a purchase. Only thing, I'm base and have no intention of joining this month, so I'm just talking for nothing.

Trure, but a lot of the time they stay up even though they're no longer working.  Or go up and aren't working at all.

That Flash Sale still up ...6.5 hours after my last post..and it works. strange place. But if you see it, and it says 4 hours, you're going to think it could go down aany minute and quick buy stuff.  Yeah, sneaky marketing, that is. laugh

Or just a terrible sense of time awareness to go with their sometimes atrocious misuse of the English language, mysterious applications of math, science where "jets" have propellers, and history where armor didn't have to cover vital anatomy and high heels were a trend that started in the stone age...

Funny how the newest products in the "current bundles" section are Genesis 8 bundles from six years ago...

    ...I totally agree.

@daveso.  I'm letting my membership lapse after Saturday and will renew it for MM as next month is "Valentine's month" so I expect to see a lot of specials on negligee and skimpy/sexy clothing (like they had on Tuesday).

A new G9 character and Add On bundle of little interest

The "Featured Artist" sale has three stores that all overlap (Poses and LIE makeup) while a fourth is primarily poses (I have enough of those as well as posing resource content).

Explain to me, in which universe is a Genesis 8 starter bundle a "current" bundle?

And for $10 after the buy in. No, not the sale I'm looking for.

Agree. I mean I wasn't expecting 2025 bundles in the selection, but I was hoping for some of the older G9 bundles. G9 is 3 or 4 years old, correct?

Maybe I will pick up the Lilith 6 starter for $1 if I decide to get Eduardo. I've always liked her (but not the Dominatrix-wear) & I have the RSSY 3DL to Iray converter which works on skin.

FYI: In the past, deals like this worked even if you were using the Premier bundle code to get the bundle. So worth a try if/when Daz adds Eduardo to the selection.

    ******

Yet another PA DNR that reminds me of a Daz+ freebie, Perspective Simplicity Suite. (Link button not working for me)

    ********

Yet another example of Daz's, ah, Unique Relationship with English word definitions: "Time to get Cyber-funky" deal. There's nothing cyber (punk, funky, or other) about Eduardo's bundles or the DNRs. There are many straight SF items, however. (No, that trench coat isn't long enough, nor looks likely to flare enough, for a Neo clone.) Which is odd considering there's at least 4 core characters where they did get the genre more or less right - Millawa 8, Juan Carlos 8, Niko 8, & Lyna 9.
