I started my new Portrait Painting Class

I was rather nervous about Portrait Painting. But then I opened a can of beer, and just went crazy.
Here is my first portrait painting. It's a Work in Progress. I'll get back to it in a moment.
First let me set the scene. That small white table is where I place the canvas to do the painting. I have tenedonitis, etc. So a flat surface is best for me.
I'm playing Meatloaf's greatest hits to set the mood. And did you see the bottle of scotch and can of Coor's Lite?!

I'd like to see a portrait of Richard Haseltine. Do cats qualify as portrait subjects?
I'm a little worried about that bottle of Scotch and can of beer. Are those on your diabetes and weight loss diet? Don't lose the great progress you've made on both fronts. I know you are rightfully proud of what you have achieved.
I would love to see that too LOL... :-)
That's a hard one for me to consider.
Barbult has her own image of Richard that she uses in her on-going story.
I don't want to infringe on that in any way.
And, frankly, I have a series of human portraits that I've been dabbling in for months or years.
I'd like to try them again now that I have some better insights into the process.
Oh and I'm probably better at doing people than animals. Actually, my efforts are somewhat crude.
But then my friends seem to like the results... confusing, yet fun.
I'll let you off the hook as far as Richard Haseltine's portrait goes, but if you feel, inspired, go for it. My Richard is digital. Your Richard would be a real acrylic painting in your own style.
Did you say "Meatloaf's greatest hits?" That is one of my very most favorite artist! Excellent choice for inspiration.
Rock on and and keep posting your results.
:-)
barbult. thanks for your understanding. We'll see about it, later. I'm undergoing some of my usual anxiety right now.
ChuckM, back around 1980 I bought a version of that album which was printed a great image of the Bat out of Hell on the vinyl!
I hung it proudly on my wall. It diseappeared over the years, when I started replacing vinyl with CDs.
Oh, you must feel really enthusiastic... repeated that message twice.
That's cool!

Barbult, I've been showing my friends the images you created featuring me. They all love your work!!
That included the lovely ladies who were at my party! I think both of them are old enough to be my mother.
But they are a lot of fun.
That's great Ron! I'm glad you have good friends.
Thanks. My life is really looking great these days.
I hope your life is good too!
Oh, yes. I've been married for 50 years. My husband and I are going on a cruise to Antarctica next month to celebrate.
Wow, barbult, congratulations! Also sounds like a great cruise
Here is my latest portrait for the art class. I really went wild.
I created Marlin Fingle back in 2000. He's based on Michael 1.
I'm trying to bring him into my portrait exercise. I get a little stumped with the nose and teeth.
I'll do more later.

Maybe I scared everyone away?!
This "portrait" of Richard (the cat) was inspired by barbult.
Be sure to check out her wonderful on-going story: barbult's take on the Lives of Jack and Richard.

Thanks for taking on the challenge of an unusual "portrait". It is just what I was hoping to see.
You're yet another great source of inspiration.
Thanks.
This portrait of King Richard is almost done.
Just a bit of touchup on Friday, then I add my signature.
I'm just doing this for my own amusement. I might even learn to draw one day.
Evidntally Richard the Lion(et)heart.
Yeah!
Here's the final version. Richard needed his whiskers, and I signed the painting.
Thank you for recognising my inate dignity and gravitas
Any time. The past few weeks here have been a blast.
Here's a sneak preview of my next portrait.
I'll probably give him a lighter skin color tonight.
I know that guy!
"I Yam what I Yam"
"Popeye the Sailor Man!"
Toot!

Here's the final painting.
And here's the early stages of my first self-portrait.
I decided to forget about anxiety, and just go for a stylistic sense of humor?!
Before I read the text, when I saw the painting, I said to myself - That's Ron! Good work.
Thanks for the compliment.
It's funny, I look at my art and often think it's bad. But other people like it.
I have some sort of learning disability, maybe a form of Dyslexia.
My mind is always translating things even when they don't need translation.
I look at the elevator buttons. If the top button is lit, that means the elevator on the left is arriving. But I look to the right one instead!
I look at a face, and see a line going one way. I start to draw it, only I go the other way.
In the end, I just go wild, and forget the anxiety. I have fun.
It's all the more precious if others appreciate my efforts.
I think these all look great, Ron. Being able to express yourself comes in different ways for everyone. Don't let anxiety get in your way. You are doing something you obviously enjoy. Keep doing that. I'm happy to see you doing so well. Congratulations.
Cris Palomino, thank you so much for your compliment and encouragement.
This is the second acrylic painting class I'm taking with my fellow senior citizens.
It's been such an uplifting experience. I love sharing the creative spirit with my friends.

A shoutout to Barbult, Richard and all my DAZ Friends.
Here's the start of my next portrait.
It's based on Mark (for Holt 9?!). He came with that wonderful moustache. I'm envisioning the villain who tied a fair maiden to the train tracks.
Mark is wearing the Banker's Outfit, from DAZ3D of course.
Mark still needs lots of work. He'll likely be done by the weekend.
I realize that I need to be aware of my sugar levels while away from my apartment. I start feeIing weak and unsteady.
I might need to bring a snack when I go to class.
Buy raw honey BUT check with ur doc. If okay put in snack bag and indulge.
