Does the Skin Detailer utility work in GIMP?
Dear Daz experts,
I was looking at buying "Skin Detailer ... a ... resource for modifying and adding ultra-realistic detail to almost any Genesis 9 skin texture set in Photoshop. ".
https://www.daz3d.com/skin-detailer-for-genesis-9-merchant-resource
The creator explains: "Consisting of five PSD files for Photoshop (Head, Body, Legs, Arms and Head Bump), adding incredible detail is as simple as dropping the textures you wish to customize into the base layer of the corresponding Photoshop file. Above this layer you will find many other layers containing all you need to turn your base texture into something incredible. You just need to select the layers and adjust the intensity.".
Does anyone know if one can do all of this in GIMP, which if free.
Thanks in advance and have a great weekend.

As long as they don't use Photoshop-only blend modes (the only one shown in a promo image is just a Normal blend mode) they should be fine, I would think - layers are a pretty basic PS feature, though I am not suyre about grouping.
I just had a look in Affinity and they all seem to use Normal of the ones I checked, and groups came in OK.
I have this and opened the .PSD's in Both PS2026 and GIMP 2.10.22 (haven't updated in awhile) and All Layers/Grouping where identitcal. So yes you can use it in GIMP.
It really is a GREAT product. Can't recommend it enough.
As long as GIMP has a layering system in it, it should work. The detailer files come as transparent PNGs, so all you have to do it create a new layer and add the detailer file onto the correct map. If you're creating your own textures, this is the way to go.
However, if you're using existing textures and just want to add the detailer onto it, DAZ Studio does it for you with the product's presets. It creates a Diffuse and SSS map. If you want to save those two map files, just go into the temp folder and it will be there.
Happy Rendering!
I tried the updated version 3.x; you have to type the whole Font name you want to use, said Font. I'm still using GIMP 2.10.38.
Thanks to the three of you!
GIMP 3.0.6 is very stable and has so many new useful features: not finalizing filter settings until you bake them is so much better. The Font bug is annoying, but leaving behind the other changes isn't worth it. And 3.2 is at RC2 stage. (Though RC2 doesn't fix the font part either.) I make heavy use of GIMP 3.x to create webcomics with text. The fact that it defaults back to monospace frequently. But if you have a text layer with your "normal" setting. "Editing" that layer updates the tool defaults for the next new text layer.
Layer group that you can apply filters to independent of the contents is kiler.
I moved to 3.0.2 and never looked back. The benefits outweigh the tool settings bug.
