Noir is back in town.  Skunkville II Base Files are now live at Renderosity!

A new, original shader from Eustace Scrubb, built on the ruins of an old Daz Store product (also by Eustace Scrubb).

The Ultimate Cartoon and Comic-Book Shader for DAZ|Studio 4.24 with 3Delight! Skunkville II is a powerful and versatile shader for D|S 4.24 and the 3Delight render engine. Its properties map almost seamlessly over most shader bases, turning any scene or portion thereof into a clipping from a 20th century comic book!

  •  Material maps can be tiled, offset, or rotated. Mapped opacity can be de-tiled independently.
  •  Opacity color predicts shadow color (for broken bottles or stained-glass saints!)
  •  Diffuse layer supports PNG alpha channels as transparency.
  •  Raytraced reflection and refraction effects.
  •  Multiple, blendable halftone modes with scalable dot-matrix size. Dots do not distort relative to mesh position or camera distance.

More Expansion Packs Coming Soon!
This package contains the base directory and primary shader presets, as well as a few basic colors to get you started. Illustrated documentation is included.

Here's the secret:  it's all one shader!  You can blend between halftones and smooth surfaces, and you can adjust the size of the halftone filter, but it's all the same one!

Some sample renders, included in the Manual:

Looks cool, but they just pulled 3Delight out of DS 4.24.0.4... sad

Don't I know it!  Do you have a backup or a rollback copy?

Here are some of my renders. If you have seen His Girl Friday with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell then you know who V4 is in these pictures.

Love it!  This is the next-generation version, but needs a 2025 edition of DS4 with a working 3Delight renderer.  (Sad that they didn't renew that:  for years it was the only option for Daz|Studio rendering.)

To be clear, this is a professional-quality shader set.  I'd envisioned it for a store product line but hadn't finished the packages before they pulled the 3Delight shader.  So I'm giving it away for free to all and sundry who appreciate old-fashioned beauty and don't have to use only the Next New Version for newness' sake.  (I'm not knocking the DS '25 or '26:  I believe it's a better version than ever, but it no longer can do what I want, so I hold on to the old one that can as well.)

    More expansions coming soon.

Next up:  your Paintbox, and the first batch of tartans.

Here's where the Sepia-tone and B&W effects come out to play, @DollyGirl.  But whoever says it has to be just sepia?  wink

Even if you cannot use the 3DL shaders themselves, pick up any one of the Tartan packs for perfectly tiling, royalty-free textures of authentic tartan plaids!
