Download documentation as PDF not working
in The Commons
Today if I try to use the export to PDF funcion on a product documentation page the screen flashes but nothng else happens and no error message. In the past it's either worked ot I've got a timeout or service not avaialable message so this is a new failure mode. Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm using Chrome on Windows 11

Yes I have the same problem (on both Chrome and Edge browsers). I reported it in the Sales Reporting Thread but often my posts there get overlooked for some reason. Maybe if you report it there too someone will take a look?
It has been disabled as it was being abused, accounting (at least in part) for the frequent downtime on the documentation centre. You should be able to print the page to PDF from your browser.
I have always used it once on each item I bought to keep a local copy of the documentation. Does Daz consider this to be abusing the service?
Yes I can print to PDF, but I'd have to do two prints, one for the start page and another for the file list, which is annoying to say the least.
Like the OP I only ever downloaded it once (after purchase) or if the product appeared in DIM with a sigificant change. I wish there was a download link in the Product Library - that way only people who actually bought the product could download it. I can't imagine many people would repeatedly download from there.
Still I suppose we have to live with what we are given.
Great idea. Little bit of "coding" required, but PL includes SKU in URL so should be doable.

Readmes are used by people who haven't yet purchased - for example to use the file list to help work out exactly what is included. Unfortunately the service was abused, even if you were well behaved., and this was causing itt o fail periodically. Making PDFs depend on printing reduces the server load considerably as generating a PDF requires resouces (or caching existing PDFs requires space),
