Garibaldi Express

is this a good product.  I mean easy to use and easy to get good results?  Or is look at my hair better? Also, does this play well with Reality 4.  Thank you.

I'd be interested to know if it works well with Iray.

While I love garibaldi, currently the only way to get it to work with either Reality or Iray is to export the strands as an object, which creates very large objects for all but the most simple of hairs.

Look at my Hair is apparently coming out with a more streamlined way to get hair into iray at some point in the future, but I think it will still be .obj based so once again large filesizes for long hair.

That said, here is some garibaldi hair converted to an object, and rendered in Iray, and personally I find it fairly easy to use and get natural results. the size of the exported object was something like 40.000kb which is about 2 genesis' worth, largish, but very doable.

    That looks great!

Thanks j cade, thats very helpful (great image too!). I did try the whole exporting as object thing with LAMH but it kept crashing my PC so I eventually gave up. Think I'm best off just waiting for the LAMH Iray-friendly version to appear.

I make it a policy to not post in Garibaldi threads but I must correct this... LAMH for iray will not use obj. We could have done that but we felt it would be cheating. The work that I am doing, and what has caused the delay, is all new. The chances for direct Octane support are also looking good. Please do not respond with LAMH related posts here. If anyone wants to discuss it there are LAMH threads.

Oh! That's good, I wasn't sure, but that is excellent news.
