So I opened Daz Studio 4.8 today...

and it was different. No default figure loaded. Didn't genesis 2 used to load? I had no smart content. I finally found a button that said start C...something. I think there were three letters. When I clicked on that, the smart content showed up. But some of the icons seemed to have different pictures on them, but maybe I'm just remembering incorrectly. For example, I think Michael 6 HD had a different icon than the one it has now. Also, when you click on the icons, it's like you are opening a directory and then you have to choose what you want from the subset. That part is nice, but it was still a bit of a surprise.

Odd thing is...I didn't install any update or anything. I was not aware that there was an update, if there was one.

I suppose this may have something to do with the new version that will be coming out soon, but I haven't installed the beta. I'm not even sure how you get it and if it replaces the current version or runs along side it. There wasn't any update for Studio in the DIM when I opened it today. Nor was there a beta listed.

    It sounds like Smart Content is set to "Products" rather than "Files" -- click the tab at the top of the Smart Content pane to switch it.

    If you go to Edit > Preferences > Start-Up, what does it show under start-up scene?

    When I go to Preferences, it show None. Not sure how this got changed. I didn't change it. Never looked at that setting before.

    I did switch it to products when I was trying to get the smart content to show up and then forgot that I changed it. Now that I've switched it back, the icons look the same as I remember.

    I did run the Auto Batch converter for M4 recently. I know that it loads and unloads figures as it runs and that it changes the size of the render screen. So maybe that had something to do with why the setting changed.

    I'm having problems with the version too! I get a can't  write to configuration file . . .
    I have to also relaod my custom layout everytime I open Studio!! Cn't wait for the next version!

    The "can't write configuration file" error is a plugin message, as I recall LAMH can give this error.

    Windows or Mac?  Try running once as Administrator and see if your custom layout sticks.
