Suggested software for keeping track of renders and scenes

Hi, I am having a hard time connecting renders to scenes. Looking at older renders and wishing I could make a quick change. Is there a software or plug-in that helps?
Thanks!

I am not aware of such.

But I name my scenes and renders with the same name, with a number after for the renders as I usually makes several.

  • I name scenes based on the name of the main character, so the name will be along the lines of

    'Michelle 01.duf'

All renders from that scene will be 'Michelle 01 Rxx.png' where xx is a sequential 2 digit render number starting at 01.

It's not a sophisticated method, but works for me.

Where I have the same character names in more than 1 generation I amend the scene name template to 'Michelle G2 01.duf' for a later purchase G2 character, keeping the original generation 'Michelle 01.duf' file un-changed regardless of the original generation - be it G9 or V3 based. I don't generally keep the old duf files that are associated with each changed/tweaked render unless I particularly want to make a change where it may go wrong or it's a different pose variation & I want to keep both poses and it's close enough to the old one to want to keep the association. Then I'd use 'Michelle 01a.duf', 'Michelle 01b.duf' etc. The renders from these would be 'Michelle 01a R01.png' and 'Michelle 01b R01.png' and so on.

    Regards,

    Richard

    There's this... https://www.daz3d.com/saveguard-ultimate-scene-saver-for-daz-3d-win-64

It creates a folder structure into which it saves each "version" of your Scene (a new one each time you save a scene with any changes).

    It does not save renders.

But, if you render into the same folder as the version of the scene you are using, then you will know not only which Scene but which version of the scene your render(s) came from.

  • Personally in the scene folder I make new folders, every story/comic/character has its own folder I save a new scene once a "panel" is rendered out so in case of problems down the road I can pull the previous scene and work from there.

In terms of sorting/keeping track all my renders they are labeled with the story/comic name (example of renders 1.1) (example of renders 2.1) for me the first number signifies 1st 2nd 3rd etc location, the .1 signifies the "panel" in that location . They dont always go into the comic as labeled but makes it much easier to keep track of the comic/story in the render folder as I can type the name in of the comic and only see that.

I also save my scenes that way as well. Helps so if I want to add a render later that is from a new angle with say 'someone looking at the MC's from afar' or such I dont have to redo the whole scene again.
